Re: Cornell 2024
It's been a strong two weeks for the Big Red on the field. Not perfect by any means - but a foundation for additional growth. From here the games in which we are favored are key - Penn, Brown, Harvard and Dart. Singular focus on each game will be needed. Each of those teams can beat us. Harvard will...

Re: Cornell 2024
Some really fine insights already posted by the likes of VRR and Chousnake and others. Some spot-on analysis. I will attempt here only to add to some of the finer points. Overall this was obviously a key win. Not perfect by any means. So much to work on. But keep in mind that this was a very high le...

Re: Cornell 2024
Wanted to offer a few thoughts on the team after 4 games. There are many positives of course - but a few key watch-outs if we are to make a big impact this year. The crazy thing is that if the refs hadn't single-handedly handed Denver the second game - Cornell would probably be 1 or 2 in the country...

Re: Cornell 2024
In response to requests for a debrief on the Albany scrimmage and the broader question of the Big Red 2024 prospects - I thought I would provide a few thoughts. Just one fan's impressions! The scrimmage was five quarters - with starters playing roughly 3 quarters. At the conclusion of Q3 it was 14-6...

Re: Cornell 2024
It's been a while for me - but what better way to return to the forum than a look ahead to the upcoming 2024 season in the context of last night's scrimmage v Maryland. Obviously, replacing players like Adler, Coyle and Ierlan is a tall task - but based on the scrimmage last night there is plenty of...

Re: Cornell 2023
As the team heads into the ILT and NCAA tourney beyond - I wanted to offer some observations on the general state of all things Cornell Lacrosse: * I think we should all be very proud of the state of the program in the big picture. We have for years now regularly appeared in the top 10 in the countr...

Re: Cornell 2023
I have a question to ask the people closest to Cornell lacrosse. Is Gavin Adler having an All American year? I’ve watched just three games and haven’t really seen him stand out like last year. I looked at the stats and he has 9 CTs in seven games, but he also has 6 TOs. Last year he had 5 TOs the w...

Re: Cornell 2023
Much has been written about the Yale game - but I always I hope to offer a few additional angles to the analysis: * This was one of the most complete games I've ever seen a Cornell team play. Top to bottom. All positions. The energy was incredible. Offense was a paragon of unselfishness. Defense was...

Re: Cornell 2023
As usual, plenty of good comments already on the PSU game - so you can categorize those below as merely cathartic. My form of cheap therapy! * Congrats to Penn State - the better team yesterday. Excellent play all around - particularly in goal. The true definition of a "motion" offense as ...

Re: Cornell 2023
Some excellent observations have been made re the Lehigh game!! Love the analysis - pls keep it up. I wanted to add a few thoughts of my own: [*]In general I thought it was a decent showing. A better effort than actual execution. Frankly I thought Lehigh would be better. That is not close to a top-2...

Re: Cornell 2023
Great info on the faceoffs. Question: at one point it looked like they called procedure on Petrakis before anyone even crouched down to start the process. Is this possible? If so, what could that be? It definitely happened last year at Penn State - procedure for what seemed like no reason before the...

Re: Cornell 2023
Many good observations have already been written about the Albany game - but I'll try and add a few more angles and thoughts: [*] As with any road opener - there were some positives and negatives. Personally, the bottom line is to get the win. Not pretty for sure and we will lose on style points in ...

Re: Cornell 2023
Hello Cornell fans - I thought I would give my preview on the upcoming season against the backdrop of the Colgate scrimmage of this past Saturday. Sorry for the long length - but then again this is geared toward the hard core Big Red fans! Others should just stop reading now.... Overall 2023 thought...

Re: Cornell 2023
I think I have it from fairly reliable source that Long has at least two years left at Cornell - 2023 and 2024. My guess is that he also has another year (2025) should he choose to use it. So he is likely to be a two-year captain in the mold of recent players like Petterson, Donville, Ierlan who had...

Re: Cornell 2023
Wanted to take a little bit of a deeper dive into the likely 2023 roster by position. In general, I think the feeling is that the future is indeed bright in Ithaca - with next year looking like Cornell could have some of the top returning players in the country and one of its strongest team in years...

Re: Cornell 2022
Hopefully the Big Red can slow down Handley, Gergar and Rubin to a reasonable amount. We need 50% faceoffs which looks feasible and a deliberate game which we can do. Our defense including Chayse has been effective. [/quote] I was able to watch the Princeton game in full and to me the key to the gam...

Re: Cornell 2022
Wanted to provide some thoughts on PSU game since the coverage was obviously limited. * Good win against a tough team - despite PSU's difficult start to the season. The facility was very nice - spacious and well lit. But still just different than outdoors and not ideal for the Red. But not likely a ...

Re: Cornell 2022
Some additional observations on the Hobart game (sorry if repetitive - as i know a lot has been covered above). [*] This to me was a good win against a quality opponent. Hobart is a veteran team that will beat some good teams. Yes - it was an ugly first quarter followed by a mediocre second quarter....

Re: Cornell 2022
A few additional thoughts on yesterday's game. -In 2020, the 2nd middie line of Licciardi, Lombardi, and Coyle basically split PT with the 1st line. Close to dead even minutes. They were very productive, at times more so than the first line. In the first two games this year, the 1st line is getting...

Re: Cornell 2022
I wanted to provide some thoughts on the Albany game. Being that it was streamed for all to see - these are probably fairly obvious points. But fun to kick around nonetheless. To me the game boiled down to two main factors: one, the Cornell offense adjusting to the zone defense - and two, a renewed ...
