Re: Cornell 2024
The Penn defense, with Carroll backstopping it, was the best I’ve seen us play this year. A bitter pill to swallow. But for our surprising title in 2018, the Ivy tournament has not been kind to us in recent years.

Re: Cornell 2024
Just like our hockey team took care of business in Lake Placid, we need to take care of business in Ithaca so that any bid stealers become someone else’s problem.

Re: Cornell 2024
Winning the semifinal will almost surely get them a spot, and even with a loss Friday they could get in—but I hope it doesn’t come to that.

Have you arranged for a driver to get you to the game?joewillie78 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 8:56 am
Also, given the time of the game, I can attend the Friday night festivities at my local craft brewery, and still make the game.

Re: Cornell 2024
Really impressed with Staub’s play the last few weeks. I think he was dealing with an injury earlier this season, but based on his play of late that must be resolved. And nice to see Bacciafola playing so well; I thought he was excellent during our deep run in 2022, and I never understood why he see...

Re: Cornell 2024
Concerning next year's fogo situation-- Melkonian won 17 of 18 faceoffs against a good Carey team, and is at 74% for the season. It’s really difficult to know how a high school FOGO will translate to the college game. That said, which high school is this kid coming from? South Side on Long Island. ...

Yes, next year’s class is dominated by poles and midfielders, which seems logical given the talent we have coming back at attack.WestVillCornell wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 2:53 pm How’s this years recruiting class looking? Looks pretty heavy on defense.

Re: Cornell 2024
I had the good fortune to be at the game today. It would be great if Cornell could play a game on LI every season. Just a great atmosphere before the game in the parking lot and in a standing room only stadium. The stands were packed and there were spectators on the grass behind both goals. Just a ...

Re: Cornell 2024
Despite a 15 hour portal to portal nightmare plane trip from FL to CT on Thursday, finally made my way to Schoellkopf today. After x minutes though, I was wondering if, surprisingly, I was watching deja vu of the first half vs. Syracuse. Cornell Offense Early On -Far too much forcing interior or cr...

Re: Cornell 2024
Following-up these excellent comments, one thing that may skew our defensive stats is that because of our offensive prowess we tend to score often and quickly, and since we have faced several teams with excellent faceoff units, those factors have given our opponents more possessions than in an "...

Re: Big Ten 2024
OSU had no answers for PSU in the 2nd half. Tambroni’s halftime adjustments blew away whatever Meyers tried to do after the break, which seems to be a theme with Meyers’ teams.

Re: Patriot league 2024
Anything thinking Army goes through the Patriot League, including the tournament, without a blemish? While Army is my "2nd" team (after Cornell), it will be tough for them to run through the Patriot unscathed, even though they appear the clear best team. BU, Navy, and maybe even Colgate c...

Re: Cornell 2024
A few thoughts on yesterday’s game: While OSU has plenty of good players and is ferocious on ground balls, what they don’t have this year are players the caliber of Kirst and Long, which was the difference. I’m quite impressed with Gilmartin’s rapid emergence as a key guy at short stick. And with Bo...

Re: Syracuse 2024
That was a great game. Really hard to separate anywhere. Faceoffs were pretty even. Goalies save %, was about even. Clears were great for both teams. For me, the difference in the game was AJ Pilate keeping Spallina from scoring any goals. I've got to believe that any team that can keep Spallina fr...

Re: Cornell 2024
Is Cascadden injured? He hasn’t seen the field since the second face off. Or was that Petrakis taking the first two? Hate to be the bearer of bad news but Jack tore his left ACL in Thursday practice. Freak injury. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just plant, cut, boom. As you can imagine he’s gutted by...
