Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Ross Scott over Angelus for 1st team All-B1G might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my entire life, and I've seen a lot of DocB and jhu06 posts. Scott (13 games): 19 G, 23 A, 42 pts (3.2 per game), 26% shooting Angelus (13 games): 22 G, 33 A, 55 pts (4.2 per game), 52% shooting When the two t...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

The Jays are 8th in the country in turnovers per game. 15 TOs isn't bad in the shot clock era. That's better than the vast majority of teams' season averages. It was only about one above the Jays' season average of 13.9. The only tournament team with a better mark (barely) is Notre Dame at 13.6. Do...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Re: the offense, it's about winning lacrosse games. Hopkins has the best 6v6 defense in the country. Crawley's scheme, which is to maximize ball and player movement to exploit matchups, extend possession, get high-quality shots, minimizing dodges that risk turnovers and taking bad shots (effectivel...

Re: The “Minimally Invasive” Offense Has to Go

As I have stated before, I think the Big Guys (Collison, Peshko, and Grimes) need to be more aggressive in their dodging. Right now, opponents are perfectly content putting a SSDM on the Big Guys. That really needs to change. If Collison and Peshko can force opponents to put a longpole on them (or ...

The “Minimally Invasive” Offense Has to Go

Obviously the offense needs to be better than they were on Saturday if they want to play on Memorial Day Weekend …. In recent seasons, the Blue Jays’ O had problems with spacing, careless turnovers, and stagnant off-ball movement. The O often seemed out of sync. Through a lot of hard work, the Blue...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

It’s crazy how little this thread mentions the impact of #22 on this team. I think this team’s record looks a lot different with a different goalie in net. You need elite goalie play for MDW and luckily the Jays have it. Blue Jays would have several more losses (at least) without Ierlan’s stellar p...

Now … on to victory in the B1G tournament!

Great work by the Blue Jays.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

With today’s win, Blue Jays currently have:

0 top-5 RPI wins

3 top-10 RPI wins (MD, UVA, Penn State)

2 top-15 RPI wins (GT, Michigan)

2 top-20 RPI wins (Ohio State, Loyola)

Plus, they have that giant crab thingy.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Agree that the stands were packed with students and the atmosphere was electric. Anytime you beat a Tillman coached team is a great win. Period. Wheels shared the metrics for a Maryland win: 1. 50% plus goaltending. Terps were 61%. 2. 60% face offs. Maryland hit that number exactly. 3. Less than 15...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Last time I flew cross-country (a few weeks ago for business), it cost me nearly $900 for the flight. Hotel and meals cost me another $2,100 ( including dinner for an old client and his wife ). Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Being at the game, taking in the incredible electric, positive atmosphere with 10k+ in attendance, hundreds of alums, more students at a game than I can remember in at least a decade, good vibes all over campus, a defensive masterclass gets you the Crab and a 5-0 Big regular season title and locks ...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Anyway …

… congratulations to the Blue Jays. They probably clinched a top 8 seed in the NCAA tournament.

That means one more home game at Homewwod in the first round.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Just thankful for the win. Have to give Maryland D a little credit for poor Hopkins offense, BUT offense needs to be better than that. Ierlan back to back saves should make Sport Center Top Ten plays tonight. Awesome. Coach Crawley better NOT be smiling after this game. He should be p*ssed. The ent...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

I am happy for the Blue Jays and glad they won. They beat a really good Maryland team. Having said that … the O did just about everything they could to lose this game. Stupid penalties. Inconsistency. Lack of aggressiveness. The Hopkins D, now clearly the best in the nation, stole this one. Ierlan w...

We have some big middies who are absolutely allergic to dodging against a SSDM.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Collison has a shorty on him behind the net and he winds up forcing the ball inside and creating a TO.

Luckily, Maryland gives it right back.

Come on … enough tulip ball.

Middies are dodging more, but they are still too hesitant. If Collison has a shorty on him behind the net, he HAS TO DODGE his man and go to the goal. Come on ….

Weak man-up O. :?

Blue Jays need to get more aggressive on their dodges and force the Maryland D to slide.
