Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

I can’t believe that last goal. Prouty loses the faceoff and then just stops running after his man after one swing of his stick.

Virginia is outhustling the Blue Jays on Homewood Field.

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

Virginia ride, winning 50-50 gbs, and Hopkins turnovers are the difference right now.

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

Lots of skill and good aggressive play on display from both teams. Blue Jay defenders getting their sticks on the shooters’ hands. Darby coming up with some fine saves. Need to see more faceoff wins. Prouty doing a good job. Maybe give Narewski a few draws and tire the Virginia faceoff man. In a gam...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

I won't comment on the end of the series with UVA except to say that I always looked forward to the short ride down Charles Street and the challenging jaunt to College Park as chances to see UVA live locally and am upset that I won't be able to, probably for the rest of my life. Well, lets get to t...

Emoluments For Orange Duce

From Esquire: The fact is that the president* is well more than half-a-crook, and he's surrounded himself with people who are just like him, and, therefore, there is no reason to believe that he hasn't been monetizing his office in ways that violate his oath. This is a guy who stiffs gardeners. Does...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

Wow - no Hopkins-UVA anymore - what brought that on? G I'm very saddened by this news, too. The UVA game is always a good one. Getting Navy back on the schedule is a nice consolation prize, though. I'm hoping that if UVA/Hopkins is indeed put on hiatus that it's only a two year break, and they're b...

during the lax season, you guys should keep debating and demerit academic superiority and inferiority, rigor... of the ivies and hopkins, and throw in vs. other schools on occasion. gripping stuff.  HPCWC (High Page Count Without Cats) Just think how high the page count will get when we ...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

MDLax It’s the perception it requires greater effort than it does at other indtitutions. At least that is what several first teamers offered as to why they chose an Ivy or ACC school. For them it was not a matter of staying in it was a matter of having to work harder on top of playing Interesting. ...

Had no idea that Virginia hadn’t beaten Notre Dame since 2006. That’s absolutely amazing.

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

Don’t think DeSimone’s 3 assists are anything to sneeze at. Means he made good decisions and moved the ball to where it needed to be. Just hope he is putting in extra work on his shooting. NINE caused turnovers by Hopkins were crucial for the win. DE was winning a lot of 50-50 gbs and causing turnov...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

A win is a win. Error-prone game by the Blue Jays, but it’s encouraging that they took some hard blows from a pretty good DE team and bounced right back. Joey Epstein benched after some bad shooting decisions, and had a couple of turnovers, too. Keep forgetting he’s still a freshman. Much credit to ...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

Another truly stupid penalty by senior captain, Danny Jones, leading to a DE goal. That’s not the worst of it ... those are dangerous high hits. Jones should spend some time on the bench. Otherwise, Blue Jays are turning the ball over too much, but are playing an excellent game, especially Da...

That smile on Petro’s face ...

... after Joey Epstein’s hit on the MSM player near the midfield line reflected pure coaching joy. Coach Pietramala loved it. When’s the last time we saw such joy from Coach Petro? Can’t recall. And hard to recall the last time during Petro’s tenure that we saw a Hopkins freshman as impressive and p...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

So, what do we collectively think of the shot clock? I kind of like it, but I think it makes Hopkins worse. I kinda miss the long offensive possessions that drain the opponent and then crush the defensive unit with a goal at the end. Having said that, I generally agree with you. Seeing more transit...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

I think it’s obvious now ... Blue Jays will need to win the B1G regular season and/or tournament title to reach the NCAA tournament. That’s not going to be easy. Wait. What? So say Hopkins finishes 4-1, 9-4 behind either Maryland or Penn State. Then a loss in the Big Ten tourney. And that resume is...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

senior captain with final nail in coffin what an idiotic play Marr, Smith, and Jones ... to be frank, I always had some concerns about this trio of captains. I’m still not convinced they have this team properly focused on the task at hand. It’s also been a long time since I’ve seen Hopkins captains...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)

Blue Jays played well for three quarters, but two really bone-headed penalties by senior captain Jones helped to break open the game for Syracuse. DeSimone is a real liability out there sometimes. He can’t beat his man and made some untimely turnovers. There aren’t any midfielders who are creating m...

Petro's Life Lessons

Not sure why, but I’ve been thinking about the past quite a bit recently. Here’s one of the best articles I have ever read about Coach Pietramala and Hopkins lacrosse, from 2007. Petro didn’t know it at the time, but his team was putting together one of the monumental seasons in the program’s illust...

Didn’t watch the game, but reportedly Virginia inverted frequently on offense with much success. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.syracuse.com/orangelacrosse/2019/03/syracuse-mens-lacrosse-blows-late-lead-loses-to-rival-virginia-in-overtime.html%3foutputType=amp That sounds like a game plan custom-b...
