Re: Yale 2024

Congratulations to Matt Brandau for becoming the Ivy League's all-time leader in points. Matt did what he could today, but well... at least the final score today wasn't as bad as last year's Yale home game against Cornell. Yale was 20 for 20 clearing today, a true bright spot. It was definitely a pl...

Re: Brown 2024

Everyone have their chips&dips, voodoo pins and stuffed tiger cuddlies ready for noon? Make the Hvd game meaningful! I'm going to give the athletic dept the benefit of the doubt and say that possibly stumbling into an ILT berth won't influence the postseason eval of the realities of the program...

Re: Yale 2024

... I would not want to see Yale lose to Princeton Saturday, lose in the ILT first round, and become “bubble out” for the NCAAs. (I know some folks think they are close to safe now so perhaps that’s not a real worry — but if the Ivy League sticks at 2 bids (where it could land), Yale could get aced...

Re: Yale 2024

The most interesting aspect of this recent Yale out-of-conference run, by far, is the splitting of goalkeeping responsibilities. To the best of my knowledge, this has never occurred under Shay's direction. Curious whether long-time Yale supporters view this as I do - a real chance to see if the you...

Re: World Soccer

Well, the Toffees will surely savor this win at Goodison Park. A long awaited win against the Reds and one that surely eliminates them from the title. Liverpool is just out of juice. Arsenal got their big win over Chelsea yesterday, but they’re going need City to falter for any chance. They were in...

Re: Yale 2024

Yale fans who have been to Reese recently (I think it's been 10 years for me (!) although I've gotten to see Yale play on the road and in the NCAAs a fair amount over that time). Any advice on ticketing? I'm going to attend Senior Day (also Alumni Day) with some alum teammates and take in the doubl...

Re: Yale 2024

We're edging toward the weekend, and Senior Day Saturday for Yale men's lacrosse. It's definitely a big game for Princeton, who by winning would control its own fate and make the ILT whatever the result of the Brown @ Harvard game. Although Yale has already clinched a spot in the ILT, the regular-se...

Did anyone see this? https://www.instagram.com/p/C6HCQRSrAjB/ Swapping Hiram for JCU is great for the North Coast Surprised the PAC would take them back? Figured they would end up in the land of the former United East cast-offs (Hilbert, Laroche, etc.) Hiram returning to the Presidents' Athletic Co...

Re: ivy league 2024

CJ Kirst, Cornell is Ivy Offensive POW Michael Gianforcaro, Princeton is Ivy Defensive Player of the Week I like the fact that the League web site cited Kirst's two caused turnovers and three ground balls. He really is quite good on the ride. Can't say enough good things about CJ. Yes, goalie Gianf...

Re: ivy league 2024

Yes, "dystopian," and Coulumbia both locked the big 116th Street gates to campus and called the NYC police for help (although perhaps not in that chronological order). Okay, that's all I say about such matters on this thread. Interesting scheduling by Brown to have a mid-week OOC game befo...

WOW, toughest schedule in D1 as of 446pm.

Can't be right, not toughest schedule: too many games against egg-head Ivy teams that don't play defense! 😉

Re: NCAC 2024

Old fashioned butt-kicking by the Big Red, 23-6 over Wooster. Let's see if Scots show up on Wednesday vs. Kenyon in the battle for 3rd place. OWU might have been the fat cat with the mouse, finally pulling away from Albion in the 4Q to win 15-8. Denison also had a problem with the Britons way back ...

Re: Yale 2024

Matt Brandau scored 6 goals in Yale's 2019 Ivy opener against Cornell, a 16-11 Yale home win. He'd scored a few goals for Yale before that, but I think that's when people really sat up and took notice of him as a college player; I know I did. In 2024, an injury-riddled Eli team is now 11-2, which se...

Re: Yale 2024

... On a more Yale-specific front: Can a beat up Yale faceoff unit bounce back against Albany's star FOGO? If Albany dominates at X, can Yale limit transition opportunities? Will Hugh Conrad get some platoon time in goal as he did against Hofstra? Will first-year midfielder Cole Cashion build on a ...

Re: Dartmouth 2024

Brown no longer needs to worry about earning its single IL win. The Bears will be brimming with confidence and relishing the opportunity to burnish their reputations in a down year at the expense of the Big Green. On the other side of the coin, Dartmouth played an outstanding first half vs Yale. Le...

Re: NCAC 2024

In a game spannig two days, Kenyon just topped Witt 17-15 in Gambier. Makes me wonder how the Lords, er Owls, will fare at Wooster next week. Yes, the young Bishops appear to be rounding into shape; junior defenseman Wes Silver and soph middie Garrett Smith were selected to the USILA D3 Team of the ...

Re: NCAC 2024

Two interesting games today. One with OWU beating Wooster handily. The other was a Denison Oberlin game that was much tighter than the final score looked. I believe that it was a 2 goal game with just under 10 mins left. Whether this shows Oberlin's strength or Denisons weakness, I do not know. Won...

Re: ivy league 2024

Re: World Soccer

Champions League... Haaland is the perfect center forward for the English game, but Pep doesn't want City to play like an English team. No high crosses into the box for Haaland, no long punts upfield by the goalie for Haaland to chase. Instead, they try to play like a Spanish team against a La Liga...

Re: Yale 2024

...without remembering game by game I can say that Yale's been blessed for over a decade with strong performers at the X: Dylan Levings, Jonathan Reese, Conor Mackie, TD Ierlan, and since 2022 Nicholas Ramsey and Mac Rodriguez. The team hasn't had to figure out alternate strategies for opposing FOG...
