Re: Yale 2019
... The defense will likely remain a question mark until the spring season is well under way. I only had a chance to watch video of the team once this fall when they scrimmaged Team USA (a game in which I thought they acquitted themselves admirably). The close defense consisted of Fake, Weitzel and...

Re: Yale 2019
Yes, great summary Calourie. I don't know the answer, but I can't help but think that in this modern sports era it could be unprecedented for a D1 defending champion to have three 2-sport student/athletes.

Re: Cornell 2019
I agree fully with BigRedBlueJay. In my honest opinion, the eventual National Champions were flat that Sunday in Manhattan, with only Reeves and Warner playing up to their lofty standards... but full credit to the Big Red for playing a terrific game... and for giving Yale the slap in the face they n...

Re: Yale 2019
I guess the once-traditional Yale-Maryland yearly series is now officially dead and buried, but I like the addition of another Big 10 squad, Penn State, who could well be an excellent team in 2019. Hope that Penn State and Michigan (who gave the Elis all we could handle last February before Yale pre...

Re: Syracuse 2019
Hey this is fun! I could wade in and point out how Jackson Morrill eschewed the JHU legacy to attend Yale while Gaudet flipped from Syracuse to Yale... but then, the Orange are the last team to beat Yale in an NCAA tournament game. And yes, good luck to both Hop and Cuse in 2019, two fine schools wi...

Re: PENN STATE 2019
Penn State's 2019 schedule has been announced. Biggest change from last year is the addition of national champion Yale (Saturday February 23 in New Haven), which with Penn and ILT champion Cornell forms an an Ivy cluster. Fairfield dropped. Big 10 portion breaks from expected pattern, with Maryland ...

Re: Ivy League 2019
These two items may be of limited interest, but the Ivy League has at least 2 neutral venue events in November: November 18: Harvard vs Yale Football at Fenway Park in Boston November 24: Harvard vs Cornell Ice Hockey at Madison Square Garden in New York While I have no way of knowing, I'd suspect ...

Okay, since Rabil is a JHU graduate, I'll put this here, but Yale, Penn State, UVa, Cornell and Dartmouth are also mentioned. Wall Street's Lacrosse Fraternity Backs Rabil's New League: https://www.bloombergquint.com/business ... gs.ZGOOpMA

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)
...Turnbaugh really had an amazing career, the ups and downs, his ability to bounce back. Eric Schneider as well, but Turnbaugh really more so. I just don't get it... We talked quite a bit about this on the prior boards. ...My perspective is that goalie performance variation at the elite level is 9...

Re: Ivy League 2019
Great to have this alt site up. Thanks, Matt! Regarding the ILT, I think it was interesting to try the Columbia thing. But it was a failure. Did they not promote it enough? Is the facility/parking just too much of a hassle to deal with on a Friday night? Whatever the reasons, attendance was poor. A...

I agree, Dmac, not good for the Great Danes... and in Nanticoke's case, if he's walking away from a college degree, probably not good for the young man who plays lacrosse.

Alright. I feel good about the FanLax Rules , etc. Bottomline, little different than how we're expected to behave on the field. Seriously, FannOLax, Seacoaster, thank you. You're welcome. Some great modern novelists (Franzen, for example) use profanity, but sparingly. It can be an effective writing...

Re: Incident #1
Which reminds me. I just edited the "a******s" in your post. Obviously I didn't submit an Incident. Your a-***e is similar to when people typed p***y when quoting the POTUS' famous pre-election grabbing quote. The POTUS said "Grab them etc." doesn't merit an incident. the follow...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)
Albany scrimmage highlights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoJEPJUrxAQ&feature=youtu.be Am I the only one who really enjoys watching lax played on natural grass? Definitely some promising-looking things for JHU, keeping in mind that the Albany that scrimmaged yesterday is a far cry from the D...

Re: NCAC 2019
Looked like the new D needs more work after the loss of several to graduation but the O was ok. Sure, the D needs more work, as you say graduation has really hit the D, while fall ball isn't typically a "finished product." Good day for the Big Red, assuming they avoided injury. And yes, i...

Re: ODAC
LC celebrates 30 years of lacrosse this season. Started under a guy named Mike Hyer and had some good years early 80’s. NOKE dominated and HSC was already established {FYI Fanno}. I think Guilford was the only other is the budding ODAC back then. Mid 80’s saw a guy named Mike Hubbard, an all-Americ...

Re: Ivy League 2019
Be serious. Nobody will make last minute plans to go to NYC for a Saturday night stay. Last minute hotel rooms cost a fortune. Play the tournament in one place and try to create some buzz. Well, hotels are probably not the main accommodations: lots of Ivy grads live in the NYC area, and at the last...

Re: Yale 2019
As usual, The Orfling's comments appear to be spot-on. Jack Starr showed that his performances last May against Loyola and Duke were no fluke... and first-year Matt Brandau certainly looks like the real deal. On face offs, I definitely think Yale missed Robert Mooney: first-line FO wing for three ye...

Re: DIII Men Rankings #1-#243
Pre-season D3 rankings are so difficult, and every year the regular season brings surprises. Looking at the rankings just posted, I'd guess that in 2019 the Washington & Lee Generals will prove themselves better than #13. Also, it is VERY ambitious to rank 243 teams! I'd guess that #131 Plattsbu...
