Re: Yale 2024
Yale's closest neighbor, Quinnipiac, is now 5-0, with wins over Brown, Bryant (in RI) and Merrimack. I hope Quinni gets back on Yale's schedule. Yale played Michigan in 2018, 2019 and (the last game played) in 2020; it would be nice to revive the series, while maintaining Penn State and Denver. I gu...

Re: What Music Are You Listening To ?
CSN's version of this song is perhaps better known, but I prefer (love!) this take:

Re: World Soccer
Gunners to the Champions League quarters on PKs. Wow. Barcelona to the quarters. All of the sudden, Arsenal isn't the dominant side we were seeing win games 6-0, 4-0.... or is it just a blip on the radar? Just as well for the red North Londoners that they got knocked out of the FA Cup early (by Liv...

Re: World Soccer
Well, but the Villa-Spurs game panned out splendidly if you've been a dyed-in-the-wool Tottenham fan for the entirety of your adult life. That first Burnley goal was really sweet; even if the goalscorer was lucky to retain possession on a dicy dribble, that was such a sweetly struck shot.

Re: ivy league 2024
With the Ivy conference schedule re-shuffled, it seems that all teams have the same bye week as before; please correct me if this is incorrect. Keeping the same bye week makes sense in terms of scheduling the OOC game that week, but I'm still scratching my head a bit about the re-shuffle... So, Thur...

Great win by Yale to hand #1 Denver its first loss of the season, 15-13. ... Overall, this was really another terrific effort by Yale -- not mourning the guys out of the line-up, making it happen with the guys who are in between the white lines. Congrats to players, families and coaches on a terrif...

Re: World Soccer
What Ardilla Secreta said about Manchester City a while back remains true: they still haven't beaten a top-5 team in an EPL match this season. Next weekend City plays Newcastle in the FA Cup, returning to League action on Sunday March 31 at home against Arsenal. That one will be huge. That same day,...

Re: ivy league 2024
BIG day for the league today as there aren't many games left against top-tens once league comp begins. After today Cornell has 'Cuse & ND, Harvard has UVa. Need wins to maybe get more than 2 teams in the ncaa dance. Looking like a 2 bid league at best right now, assuming most all the top OOC fo...

Re: Brown 2024
Going to overtime! Let's go, Bruno! Extraordinary game no matter the outcome. I told you Brown would be a tough out in the IVY League. Probably the BEST 0-5 Team ever. If a team wins its CONFERENCE tournament and have an overall record sub .500, do they still get the automatic bid? Just curious. Go...

Re: World Soccer
Folks (and by that, I mean FannOlax and ardilla secreta, I guess), who do you like on Sunday in the Man City-Liverpool game? Looks like Liverpool has nearly everyone back except Allisson. Chris Sutton in his weekly BBC footy prediction column says, "Manchester City have not won a Premier Leagu...

I saw Hiram beat Mt. St. Joseph 29-3. I watched a couple of minutes because I couldn't believe that score. MSJ had NO reserve players at all....all 10 men were on the field and played the whole game. The Hiram coach has managed to mine the dregs of D3 and give his team a 4-2 record so far, but Apri...

Re: ivy league 2024
A whole bunch of interesting games coming up this last weekend before league play. Saturday: Brown at Maryland. Well, if Brown State has an A game bottled up inside and waiting to emerge, this is the time to show it. Cornell at Penn State. Battle of nationally ranked teams with one loss, Cornell vs ...

Re: Yale 2024
The good news is that Yale gets to play the #1 team in all the polls, Denver. The bad news is the Yale Daily News , whose person covering lacrosse talks to no one, has no inside info, and just summarizes the box scores. But Denver, good: Yale has everything to gain, nothing to lose. Weather out ther...

QF of the FA Cup set, some good games: Man City v. Newcastle Chelsea v. Leicester City Wolves v. Coventry Liverpool v. Man United All March 16 Wolves look like having a good chance of making it through to the FA Cup semi-final, a feat they accomplished in 1981. Poch could still win a title this yea...
