Re: Hobart 2025
Should've been clearer: not that they weren't there mentally all year, but more as the season progressed. To put it another way: is the problem with the whole system or with the system makes/doesn't make adjustments. No first year arrives checked out and still plays. I don’t think many kids check o...

Re: Hobart 2025
This won't be a popular post, but I am also wondering whether, if they are hitting the portal, were they really mentally here this year? Maybe the team dynamics were not what they were said to be on the podcasts. I'm really disappointed, but at the same time there seems to be little to do about it....

Re: Hobart 2025
I really wonder if Raymond et al are aware of the players possibly hitting the portal? Does anyone think it's come up in the end of season conversations?
Kind of sad that the 1st round of D 1 playoff games hasn't been played and we're on page 9 of our 2025 season thread.

Re: Hobart 2025
One guy who hasn't been mentioned much for next year is Begina. He started pretty hot last year before getting injured. He's not big, but he's quick and aggressive. Di Tomasso is a pretty big guy. I've heard he has a great shot. There is talent that has been left on the bench. Begina had 2 serious ...

Re: Hobart 2025
Per his bio, Patterson has a brother(soccer player at Hobart) and an uncle who played football for the Statesmen; plus, he will have the reins of the offense for the next 3 years. Not saying he wouldn't leave, but I doubt it. Losing a player is unfortunate--especially given Hobart doesn't use the p...

Respectfully where’s the demand coming from?

Re: Hobart 2025
FYI, the team that hits the field in '25 will have 6 scholarships to work with, 9 for the '26 season and the full 12.6 for the '27 season. I don't think we will start to see the effect of the scholarship $$ really take effect until '26. Figuring out how to divide the $$ up among recruits and current...

Re: Hobart 2025
Finally got around to the podcast. As Raymond said, chirping is what Fanlax is for. I thought his summary of the season and what to do moving forward was pretty solid: new systems on O anD that are looser and let the guys play more freely. Work the new systems to fit the guys we have. I even heard ...

Re: Possible Tournament Upsets?
Of the first eight games, I can think of four where the home team might not make it through: UVA vs St. Josephs : UVA has tremendous talent, but has not been winning. Granted they have been playing the top programs in the country. In contrast, St. Joe's has one of the longest unbeaten streaks in th...

Re: Possible Tournament Upsets?
St. Joes attack is underappreciated. All good size, can move well and share the rock. Their FOGO is Gavin Tygh who has come on strong this season. He spent 2 years at UVA and probably has a good idea of how the Wahoos approach a game.

Re: Hobart 2025
Welcome aboard LakeLax! Your key point "He is too stubborn to make change because he wants to prove his way is the right way (which hasn’t been working for the past year)" should read "years". Maybe, just maybe, Coach should listen to others rather than his own thoughts. Because ...

Re: Hobart 2025
Watching the ACC championship highlights one thing we needed all season and just didn't have, a second midfield. ND is consistently running a 2nd midfield and used a 3rd midfield in the semis. Our offense, specifically the 1st (only?) middie line , was gassed by the start of Q4. ND is killing Duke w...

Re: The stick
It is still the same test to see if a pocket is too deep. If the ref can see the top of the ball, it's too deep. The real difference is in the shape and height of the sidewalls. The shape of todays heads provides a very uniform channel as compared the old V shape of the heads from the 70s and 80s. W...

Re: Hobart 2025
Biggest risks of hitting the TP are Faiola, Rhine, Campbell, and Stillwell. Patterson, Cavo, Schleicher, Sotiropoulos and Valent all saw significant PT and I would hope are happy with their roles so far. Fox is a legacy and also a very good goalie. Weist is an unknown. Swisher did get time early in ...

Re: Hobart 2025
We can hope that we don't lose players to the TP. Though that is probably wishful thinking on my part. I'm pretty sure that every player on the roster had other offers before choosing Hobart. It's one thing to transfer after your freshman year, after that, a player has to worry about credits transfe...

Re: Atlantic 10 2024
Jason is listed as a sophomore. If he was injured, fine. If he practiced with the team his 1st year and didn't play, he's not a rookie. I'm off my soap box now. Too bad the A 10 will only get 1 team in the NCAA tourney. I think both St. Joes and Richmond deserve consideration no matter who wins the ...
