Re: Liberty League 2023

thinking ahead here... the Liberty League playoffs are different this year? Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought it was 1v4, 2v3? This year seems pretty cool that 4v5 will be the first game and then the winner would play the 1? It's great to get one more team in the mix. Anything can happe...

Re: NESCAC

While there is a fundraising component, it is important to note that Trinity College does support the team financially just like the College's other programs and I have not heard anything about ‘pay to play’. That is a huge win for the program, glad to see the college has stepped up to the plate in...

Re: NESCAC

Is this a case of the coach being way over his skis or is it something else? I had a front-row seat to that process. With the current financial structure of the program, I don't believe there is a coach that could step in there and have true success. IIRC, MLax is the only team sport at Trin that i...

Ooph. That’s hurts.
Why is that? Not overly familiar with Thornton, but on paper there are some things that line up well there.

Re: Coaching Carousel D3 2022

SUNY Oswego players were notified via email that they have hired Andrew Daly from Wells College as the new Head Coach. Interesting hire...doesn't look like Wells has had more than 15 players on their team and have been bottom dwellers in D3 forever. Likely a result of a poor candidate pool. If you'...

This seems like a fairly solid hire. Good experience on the resume, local kid. Hopefully it's a good fit both ways.

Re: Coaching Carousel D3 2022

Wasn’t the coach just hired recently? What happened that he is out the fast? Is this the regular SUNY (they have to do so) posting? I don’t think so because he was there more then one year. I think they ran the “have to do so” advertisement last year. They did run their NYS required job posting las...

Plattsburgh is open https://jobs.plattsburgh.edu/postings/12906 Hopefully the AD goes about this process the right way this time. I know alumni were fairly upset that they didn't approach a full national search with how early Coach May indicated he was leaving. Manipulated the whole process so he co...

Re: University of Hartford (yes I know this is the D3 board)

I think conference-wise it's a good fit. They'll slot into the upper half in terms of student population, but academically seems to be on par. It is very interesting to see how salty people are about the move to D3. I know quite a few people who are UHart alums and they have been seething since the ...

Re: Coaching Carousel-2022

I just find it odd that so few lacrosse coaches remain in coaching after getting very far and then getting fired. In most other sports those coaches are still considered very good coaches and usually get other chances. I think it's difficult to wrap your head around stepping back into an assistant ...

Re: Coaching Carousel D3 2022

but I"m not sure there's any other job on this list so far that will pull a current HC away from a job. Time will tell... If you mean it won't pull a current HC from a major program, I would tend to agree. I think Roger Williams could pull the interest of some mid-tier HCs, as well as Wooster....

Re: Coaching Carousel D3 2022

I see the SUNY Oswego position is posted. They had a decent year, so I'm assuming this is just the required state posting requirements, and they'll remove the Interim tag from Eccles when all said and done.

This is pure speculation on my part, but curious if Jon Thompson will be pursuing this. He's in a different place in life than he was as Colby HC, has a couple years of separation from the debacle at Amherst. I believe his parents still live in Maine. Has had proven success in the NESCAC. Etc, erc.....

Re: NESCAC

Do you have to be on a top tier team to make this All-NESCAC list? Who votes for it? I presume its the coaches who had to do the scouting all year? Not saying that these players do not deserve it - they are all damn good - just saying there is a small sub-set of teams represented here. Yes, you do....

Utica College may be doing a search this Summer. Their current coach is interim, took the helm after Coach Parnell passed in December. I’ve also heard that “Utica University” Newly elevated from college.. is going D2 this summer! That may throw a wrinkle in who they look to hire This would be a ver...

Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel

For what it's worth, I'm sure there was a bit of culture shock coming into Gettysburg for Toner. Fraternities are deeply ingrained in the lacrosse program, and that can be a big culture definer that he doesn't have much control over. I know PSU has fraternities, but I'd be surprised if those student...
