Elena Vesnina's semi-final win

A favorite moment from a few years back. Elena Vesnina's semifinal win on her way to her last and most prestigious WTA title. We used to call her "Hiya Girl". You'll hear why from this clip.

Re: New Pro Game Rules

Thoughts?? My gut reaction is I don't like it. I've seen some action from "sixes" games (which I know isn't this) that I hated for a number of reasons. Mainly, that there are too many differences from the college game I love. I'm afraid they'll bring some of these changes to the collegiat...

Re: Boston College

I don't think this has been mentioned previously here, but Charlotte North was named the female Athlete of the Year in the ACC. Trevor Lawrence was the male winner. Pretty good company, I suppose, although even with the Supreme Court ruling, Trevor stands to make a few more Benjamins in his career ...

Ever Wonder How Many?

How many folks frequent the D1 Women's Lacrosse boards in a given block of time? I just happened to leave my laptop up when I left for work this morning. When I got home I noticed and wondered how many people had visited the topics that were the most recent so I snapped a screenshot. I refreshed and...

Re: Womens USA team Who you got?

“She’s a born killer,” said USA Blue attacker Sam Apuzzo, who’s playing with North for the first time since coaching her as a volunteer assistant at BC. “She’s a threat no matter where she is on the field.” Yup, completely agree. On top of her 6 & 1 she had a couple of those hockey assist type ...

Ward may take Emily Ehle spot. Much to the dismay of incoming freshman from Florida. Who I’m assuming was expecting to be there Baxter to me is a gigantic question mark. I do not see how she’s second string material. There are some good players that I’ve heard are better. But I’m not there so who k...

So--Kayla Treanor’s first year at the Orange helm coming up, I wonder who she'll start for the offensive unit. Hawryschuk and Carney should be back--healthy and raring to go. Gotta figure they'll be there as starters. Then Swart and the two Tyrrell sisters. It will be interesting to see how Treanor ...

And several more teams scattered around the country have momentum to build off of or a chip on their shoulder. Vanderbilt, Jacksonville, UConn, Drexel, Hofstra, Temple, ASU... A lot of teams are hoping for 2021 to be the start of a new chapter. Denver quietly had a great season. USC and Colorado wa...

Re: Big 10 Women’s Lacrosse

In general, teams look for reasons to believe in themselves, unless they're terribly beaten down. Everyone in the B1G can find reasons to be optimistic, although yes, some have to look harder than others. Completely agree here, though it is tougher for some schools to recruit. Michigan and Ohio Sta...

2019 was 11-6 overall and 6-1 in conference and an Ivy championship. *Big Green shared the Ivy championship with Princeton in 2019. The Tigers finished 12-3 overall. Princeton also defeated Dartmouth in their only meeting that year--14-12 in Hanover. https://goprincetontigers.com/news/2019/4/27/wom...

Something fascinating and heartwarming about this news--Ms. Hoeg is going into dentistry. I know this sounds stupid but it's hard to picture Katie doing anything but playing lacrosse because that's all I've ever seen her do. I wonder how many future clients will ask, "I hope you don't mind me a...

Very big difference between forced and unforced TOs What’s your assessment of these, wlaxphan? They are all contested. Could she have made better decisions in some of these situations? Maybe. I'm not sure what SU's game plan was, but that's the point of defensive pressure, isn't it? Make them make ...
