Re: Recruiting

Interesting conversation about single sport versus multi-sport athletes. I think what some people may not realize is that the multi-sport athlete has also played multiple roles on different sports teams. She hasn't always been the star, so she gains an appreciation for being a role player, feeder, o...

Re: Ivy League 2025

One big X Factor going forward for Ivy league Athletics is going to be the imminent return to standardized testing for these schools. I'm pretty familiar with how the academic requirements for the Ancient 8 have 'evolved' over the past 5 years. The significant relaxation of academic benchmarks for p...

Re: Stanford Player Gets Red Card for Hit

"I will say another uncommon occurrence was the Ref stopping the game toward the end of the game due to language coming from the stands. I don’t recall ever seeing that in college? I couldn’t hear it on TV, but hope the parents weren’t a factor in any of this cranking up the players." That...

Re: Stanford Player Gets Red Card for Hit

18-19 year old kid makes a mistake. Not exactly uncommon. Will have to sit out a game and you can see on film one of the senior players clearly talking to her after the incident. She let her team down and I am sure she knows it. Plenty of punishment for a freshman IMHO. Clearly a very talented play...

Re: Coaching Carousel 2022-2023

It's such a turnoff to read the same posters taking shots at their "targets" over and over. We get it, you don't like Stanford or Duke or insert least favorite coach. It says more about you and your negativity (ego?) than it does sometimes about the lacrosse program in question. I love NC...

Re: Live Game Action

It's hard to watch how rough and dangerous the SB players are in this third quarter. Stanford players getting hit in the face with sticks, being crosschecked etc. refs look like they have lost control . Great game but they should enforce the rules for contact.

How did the Womens d1 lacrosse forum devolve into men arguing with the other about who slighted the other first or more grievously?

Re: Ivy League

One thing helping Ivy League recruitment in all sports has been the 'test optional' stance of most top Universities since COVID began. The 2021s, 2022s and 2023s have been recruited under these terms. Wager to say 50% of the recruits I've watched on film have boasted a 4.0 GPA, how impressive that r...

Girls and women are also much more prone to ligament tears during certain times of their menstrual cycle. A great deal of scientific research and data has been published about this in the past few years. Female bodies are designed to be more pliable and ligaments relax at certain stages of that cycl...

Re: ivy league poll: for ivy leaguers only: mitigation efforts

Same old, same old. Coupla guys who post constantly on IL boards will just tell you that you're STOOPID if your opinion differs from them. Especially if you go against the establishment narrative. Don't you know that only CERTAIN scientists are to be listened to (the ones not banned from Twitter or ...

Re: Princeton University - 2022

I took a break from the Ivy League forums because there are a handful of posters who think they 'own' the conversation here and, when challenged, they question other posters' bona fides. I dont think you need to have attended an IL University or have a child there to venture an opinion on how that c...

Re: Ivy League 2021

Good points made above about some possible physical benefits to a 'virtual redshirt'. Having seen many athletes through the years I am also concerned about the impact that 'no competition' for this extended period of time has on them. Athletes lose their competitive edge, even if they aren't playing...

Re: UNC at Duke

I actually think the Duke goalie (Adler) is every inch as impressive as the UNC goalie. Aside from the Denver game he has been great all season, some absolutely incredible saves, including the game winning save at the last second against Syracuse. Really looking forward to some great lacrosse on Thu...

Re: Ivy League 2021

I'm disappointed as well that there won't be any Ivy competition or championships. I'm reading it that each team can judge whether, later in the season, they want to play local competition or games here and there. Not to say this is a good outcome, just wondering if teams will continue to practice o...

Re: UNC vs. Stony Brook at Noon (ACCN)

I was impressed with SB's zone in the first quarter. I also thought it was very gutsy to try and run a backer defense while also face guarding Ortega. Once Ortega and her FG removed herself from the action it became too easy to beat a 5 person zone with 6 attackers (especially when the goals were sc...

Re: UNC vs. Stony Brook at Noon (ACCN)

Not sure why anyone would say Wurzburger was robbed by that call on her goal, the defender was right on her body and hands, shooter followed through onto the defender's head - 2 minute yellow card for 'dangerous follow through' was pretty clear and the right call. The officials missed a bunch of imp...
