Re: Ivy League 2019

Molo: I agree with your analysis above in terms of the expected order in the league. Between injuries, challenging schedules and the uncertainty of the Ivy League Tournament, it's fair to say that there could be some surprises. While I am usually wrong with specific predictions, I've read some who p...

Re: Ivy League 2019

As an obvious point of note on the Ivy thread, Duke, Hopkins and Syracuse losing over the weekend could represent opportunity for the Ivies to gather highly meaningful early season wins that could matter on Selection Sunday.

Re: Cornell 2019

IL ranked JT51 the 4th best college player in the USA. The 2nd male player behind Pet Spencer of Loyola.

Re: Albany 2019

I hate to bring this up on the U Albany thread, or anywhere, but I did think it important enough to mention in a forum on FanLax. Lyle Thompson was on Instagram and Twitter politely noting that he had been harassed in Philadelphia by the PA announcer for his ponytail and by fans as well for his Nati...

Re: Cornell 2019

He looked great in the World Games. He was playing against bigger, stronger, older pros and held his own.

Re: Cornell 2019

faircornell - re-read one of my two prior texts. Unlike the strategy that Desko used, teams are more likely not to lock-off with their best defender on Teat. That way, the best on-ball defender remains in the slide package. While (per Typical Lax Dad) Princeton did not use a lock-off per se, it was...

Re: Cornell 2019

Teams may lock off JT51, but they take their best on ball defender out of the game. Also, the depth and experience in the Big Red offense is greater than last year. As a Junior, now with World Game experience, I'm not sure the lock off will be as effective as last season.

Re: Cornell 2019

This little snippet from US Lacrosse Mag says Cornell has "what could be the toughest schedule in the nation." I don't disagree. "WHAT WE’RE READING Cornell unveils what could be the toughest schedule in the nation, with matchups against Albany, Yale, Syracuse, Penn State, Towson and...

You are correct. He was assistant coach at Westlake High School in 2018.

Re: Cornell 2019

The player's name is Hunter Hughes. He was in the USMC from 2008-2014. He graduated Westlake High School. I wish him all the luck in the world. Dick Bertrand was a policeman before deciding to return to university. He was able to play in the regular season, but (at a certain age) not NCAA post seaso...

Re: Cornell 2019

I just read on Twitter that a 30 year old player has made the team. It sounds like a great story. I was wondering if any Big Red fans had any background regarding the situation

Re: Yale 2019

Personally, I think it's cool, but it is really different seeing Yale "swag" side-by-side the perennial "lax bro" items promoted on social media.

Re: Cornell 2019

In both the World Games and the Minto Cup, JT51 was often "quiet" off ball as you note. I think that this is more of a deliberate tactic. The great Cornell #10 sometimes did the same.

Re: Cornell 2019

That's a sweet shot. Have been saying for quite a few years now that I'm surprised lacrosse hasn't turned into more one of handed game. With the weight and balance of sticks these days (to say nothing of the "sick hold") passing and shooting with one hand is actually pretty easy. On anoth...

Re: Cornell 2019

RE: Locking Off Jeff Teat Assumption - no coach who faces Cornell this season will repeat Andy Shay's gaff from last year's ILT. -I certainly concur that the team will be (better) prepared to address the Teat lock off strategy. -However, just the fact that locking Teat off alone takes Cornell out o...

Re: Cornell 2019

I have a thought about this, and I hate to try to predict things. I think that this will be less of an issue in 2019. JT51 was one of the leading scorers for Canada in the 2019 Israel World Games, and a top scorer in the 2018 Minto Cup. He has most likely continued to progress in size, strength and ...

Re: Ivy League 2019

These two items may be of limited interest, but the Ivy League has at least 2 neutral venue events in November: November 18: Harvard vs Yale Football at Fenway Park in Boston November 24: Harvard vs Cornell Ice Hockey at Madison Square Garden in New York While I have no way of knowing, I'd suspect t...

Both the Cornell and UMD Twitter feeds had some great pictures of the game. @Firstteamphoto was retweeted with a picture of Coach Moran on the sidelines and @CoachTillman1 had a photo of Richie addressing the UMD team in the locker room.

Re: SCOTUS

This question is addressed to those who have been closely following the nomination process. An article that I read earlier today stated that Mitch McConnell told Trump to not nominate Kavanaugh. Anyone know why Mitch recommended that? As for OD ignoring the Senate leader's advice, what's new? A kin...
