It’s SCHUTZ, like he ‘shuts’ the door. And he’s got a rocket shot.
the announcers for the Harvard game were a refreshing change from the usual tripe.....

Re: UVA 2024

At this point in the season, Hop looks like a post-season level team.

Nice to have this rivalry competitive.

Re: UVA 2024

Cormier passes Doug Knight for all-time goals. Like Cormier, but mixed on this. That extra Covid year is going to change record books Yeah there has been serious record inflation with the advent of the shot clock and the extra Covid year coming in quick succession. Knight's record stood for years d...

Re: UVA 2024

My bad if that’s so. I always thought he was a 20% type. My bad. I saw the game this weekend. His shots were, charitably speaking, not always wise. The Richmond game was definitely an outlier. From my armchair, it looked like he was pressing to get the record, but there are a myriad of explanations...

Re: The Top Current Assistants In DI?

I think this new kid at UVA, Kevin Cassese, has the potential to be a HC someday ;) Obvious choice... Also Caputo at Duke. There is a real challenge in predicting who will successfully transition to HC from coordinator. It is a very different role. Some guys are wired to be the #2 and not the...

Re: UVA 2024

Doubt it. I can’t imagine any DC that would ever think about taking focus off of Shelly or Cormier. Keep in mind Millon led the team in turnovers with 3, had 0 assists, and a conduct penalty. You want the ball in his stick compared to the rest of the attack This is actually an argument for sliding ...

this strikes me as the most realistic expectation. Although to quibble, if the list is in order of likelihood/seeding, I would probably tweak it a bit and go: Duke, UVA, ND, Cornell/UMD.

Re: Possible face-off changes

Is any sport more popular on TV than football and it has dead air on every play? This happens every two years when the genius rules committee changes the rules of a great sport. Have they ever said after one of these meetings, that the rules are good no changes? They all want to leave their mark wh...

Re: NCAA reorg imminent

Legal question is that if a league decides they are going to be pure amateur - can they prohibit players who have received money from competing in their particular league? Schools can likely do what they want so long as they are opting out of big business college sports. And if you want to REALLY b...

Re: Does John Danowski Retire On Top If Duke Wins A National Title Within These Next Few Years?

Will his son get the job? this is the only blemish on what I otherwise have to admit has been a stellar career. lowandaway is correct - John Danowski is a good man and coach. But nepotism is not a good look. I get that it is great to be able to work with your son - and that is a great privilege IF ...

Re: NCAA reorg imminent

Not sure that an opinion can be "patently false", but removing that hyperbole, you make a sound argument. fair Will that not shrink D1 competition to just those schools and the specific sports with alumni bases that have relatively unlimited deep pockets? to an extent - yes, I think this ...

Re: W&L 2023

In the late 70's lacrosse was a club sport for HS players and the clubs had several different schools combined. Braddock Road was a VA club that actually sent a few players to play at D1 programs. The first official season in VA was 1988 when VHSL held a state championship but it was a provisional ...

Re: NCAA reorg imminent

But yeah, an arms race is going to drive a whole lot of schools to cut athlete opportunities. And that'd be a heck of a shame IMO. Id be shocked if this didn’t happen. And yes, thats a horrible outcome. this is patently false. D3 athletic opportunities represent a multiple of D1, do they not? Colle...

Re: NCAA reorg imminent

Yes the players will get some of the huge B1G / SEC tv windfall. That’s when the secondary conferences will have it hard to compete. so, it's not the last $20 million difference between conferences that makes it difficult to compete, but the next $20 million difference. got it. which all leads to t...

in other news, stanford has told the rest of the priceless pac 4 that they've told the acc they'd come with a greatly reduced rate or maybe even free for several years. plus condeleeza's been working the phones (as has g-dub for smu). berkeley probably can't afford too much of a blue light special....
