Re: NCAC 2022

Congrats to OWU Lacrosse for success in the classroom this year! Four players were named Academic All-Americans -- Senior defenseman Joe Connor (Barrie, Ontario/Everest Academy), senior midfielder Jack Damon (Portsmouth, R.I.), senior defenseman Carter Haskel (Denver, Colo./East), and senior attacke...

Re: NCAC 2022

I got no 'dog' in this Mascot discussion, so I'm fine with the Owls. It's just a little dull for a creative place like Kenyon. I assume some of the 6,000+ entries included some good ones like Purple Haze, Purple Rain and Purple People Eaters (a non-binary gender homage to the 50's hit by Sheb Wooley...

Re: NCAC 2022

Nice win by the Lords and good luck on Friday vs. Denison. Kenyon played them tough last year and hopefully can take the next step. Don't know what direction the Bishops are headed in, but the effort yesterday, with all their players, was poor. The turnovers, the disparity in ground balls, faceoffs,...

Re: NCAC 2022

Ned -- Many years ago (mid-70s) when I was a student working in SID office, the coach nominated their players they considered worthy and all the coaches had a vote. There was some 'horse-trading' before the final list came out. I'm guessing it is still a variation of that, but I don't know for sure.

Re: NCAC 2022

Special Kudos to the Oberlin lacrosse program, Coach Ryan Polack and his staff, and the upperclassmen on the team. The Yeomen had their best season in over sixty years, going 12-4 overall, 6-3 in the NCAC and are entering the NCAC lacrosse championship tournament for the first time. This is really e...

Re: NCAC 2022

Nothing would be better for the conference then other teams to emerge and challenge Denison and OWU for the conference championship. I was impressed with Kenyon yesterday --- they had the lead much of the game and physically took it to the Bishops on the defensive end, causing 20 turnovers. I also l...

Re: NCAC 2022

Final weekend of NCAC has no real drama. Top three are set despite some intriguing match-ups. Top four get in playoffs next week, where #1 hosts #4 and #2 hosts #3. Denison (8-0) @ Wittenberg (5-3) - Big Red rolling to undefeated season again, facing a revived Witt team that was dead a month ago but...

Re: NCAC 2022

Ned -- Like you stated, this topic has been beaten to death over the years, and I don't wish to revive the debate. I think most coaches have adopted the view that if you are playing another college team that is trying to score, then your players on the field should be allowed to try and score too. T...

Re: NCAC 2022

I did a quick scan of today's scores.....B-W put up 32 vs. Brevard, Stevenson 29 vs. Albright, SUNY Maritime 26 vs. Purchase, Kean 26 vs. Bryn Athyn, W&L 27 vs, Guilford, Kenyon 27 vs. Wabash, CNU 24 vs. Mary Washington, DeSales 24 vs. King's.....and so on....

What's your point?

Re: NCAC 2022

Ned -- You may be right....I am worried about face-offs too and hope the freshman goalie is up to the task. He seems pretty unflappable but he's had a couple game where he's had some problems picking up outside shots. Frankly I didn't think OWU would hang with Denison last year and they split two 9-...

Re: NCAC 2022

Got to say I was wrong....Oberlin impressed. After being down 7-0, Yeomen played Denison even up the the rest of the way and lost 16-9. I was switching back and forth between the OWU-Wooster game, but they pass the ball well and are much improved. Oberlin-Kenyon should be a good game. Just my opinio...

Re: NCAC 2022

Don't stop there - though not with the top-of-the-conference implications of the others, the Wabash-DePauw game should be a good one. With the lack of love between these two schools, it'll be a fun one. Agree with neo's predictions, but going with Denison winning by at least five. It's Final, DePau...

Re: NCAC 2022

NCAC returning to its old form. Denison rolls 16-7 over Kenyon and OWU sinks Wittenberg 25-8. 14 different players score for the Bishops, led by attackman Henry Hasenberg with 4 goals and 6 assists. Denison paced by Cam Bowby with 5 goals and 3 assists. Friday night, April 15th will be the main even...

Re: NCAC 2022

Oberlin beats Wittenberg 12-9 and looks like they may be the fourth best team in the NCAC after the the first week of conference play. They play Wooster in their final game of the regular season and that could decide who goes to the playoffs, as the Scots had an easy win over Hiram and should improv...

Re: NCAC 2022

Both Denison and OWU got back on track with decisive wins over really good Midwestern teams and have let the NCAC know they are still the teams they will have to beat to play in the league championship. Denison (4-3) beats 13th ranked John Carroll (6-1) by the score of 11-5. JCU had previously beat ...

Re: Mustang Classic March 18-19 at Stevenson University

Can anybody explain why Amherst and Bates from the same conference are playing each other? Isn't the idea of the tournament to match-up great teams from other great conferences?
