Re: Best Examples Of DI Coaches Who Do More With Less?
Going to throw in Justin Turri at St John’s. Now 4-7 with their first Big East win in a long time.

Re: Fall Ball ‘23
A former MIAA coach noted that freshmen were driving at hud school. Went with my son's rising 9th grade travel team to Maryland in the summer of 2015 and at the private school tournament we played in, some of the kids commented on the cool cars their opponents drove away in. I assume learners permi...

Having a hard time seeing an official call a push on that. It wasn't there. Maybe, and unlikely, if you mean the contact before he turns around to face the cage, but that's it.

Re: Duke Vs. Penn State Semifinal-05/27 @ Noon
Lead official is the "on-ball" official. Single side official should be just above him opposite side and has the shooter. In this play, with the ball far side, the lead should be in tight (he was) and has the ball and the players feet, up until the ball is released. Then he's all about tra...

I thought St John's had it, but losing their goalie in the final few minutes hurt.gymman1031 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 4:50 pm Excellent weekend for the Big East. Heck, even with a loss, St. John's looked better than they have in recent years.

Re: Harvard
I’d take snow over slush for game conditions but temps will be single digit and feel well below 0 with windchill in Queens today. Just crappy to play in those conditions. Tomorrow at least it will be in the 30’s~40’s. I’d rather hear about good lacrosse then hear about how much rougher we had it bac...

Re: Bill Tierney Retiring After The 2023 Season!
I'm sure that all the parents saying Tierney isn't a good role model for kids are just exemplary role models themselves. If you're berating a coach from the stands, you're probably not doing much better setting an example for your kids than he is. And then the mom voice comes out, “just because you...

Re: Bill Tierney Retiring After The 2023 Season!
“I don’t trust anyone who’s nice to me but rude to a waiter because they would treat me the same if I were in that position.” - Muhammad Ali You don't have to be an ass to be a good coach. Plenty have proven that. Officials put up with it because none of them want to get blackballed for flagging a h...

Re: Programs Who Will Have Lacrosse-Only Stadiums In The Future?
Not quite at the same level, but St John’s is moving to make Belson Stadium the primary lacrosse field going forward. Very nice change. It will be shared with soccer, but there isn’t much they can do on campus. There does seem to be renewed energy and support along with the new coach. https://redsto...

Re: California Lacrosse
CIF Southern Section finals are being finalized. Orange County had the powerhouse D1 teams this season. Loyola still the dominant LA team, but this year was a rebuild with some tough loses and an early out in the quarter finals. Lots of debate as the season wound down over which OC team had the hors...

I’m fairly certain that St John’s and most of the lacrosse community would prefer not to remember the 1990 team under his watch. Why would SJ and "most" of the lacrosse community prefer to forget his success? He had over 100 wins with a team made up of Long Island guys, most of whom commut...
