Re: QF #3 Hopkins vs #6 Virginia Sunday @2:30

........ A good team at any of these programs is no longer a guarantee to make a Final Four This. Exactly this. Never was. The Final Four teams from twenty years were more than good. “Good” has never been good enough for the Final Four. This was true even in the 1970s and 1980s. DocBarrister Pay at...

Re: SF #1 Notre Dame vs #5 Denver Saturday @ noon

+5 for Denver feels very enticing. They haven't lost by more than 4 all year and lost by 7 goals total in 3 games. Their 4th quarter today was disgusting, but for the most part they just don't beat themselves. They don't turn it over a bunch (28.8% TO rate), they shoot it pretty darn well (32.2%), t...

Re: QF #3 Hopkins vs #6 Virginia Sunday @2:30

There are two elite coaches in the country clearly ahead of the pack. Tiffany and Tillman. One of those two has been in every Final Four for the last 10 years. They're 10-1 and 5-1 in the Quarterfinal round respectively and the 1's in those columns were losses to the other. To win the championship, ...

Re: Maryland 2024

It is what it is. More teams have overcome the second game lately. It’s obviously a deficit, but not impossible. Virginia again. What a rivalry it’s become. The preeminent one in the sport. Think the Terps have a good shot. It’ll need to be the big guns having incredible days again, but believe they...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Virginia had 7 more possessions than Hop for the game. It was 10-4 in the fourth quarter alone. Just so hard to overcome that. Jays were more efficient (26% to 24%) for the game; and they were super efficient through 3 quarters (34.4%.) But you can't lose FOs 62-38 and blow NINE clears. Just too muc...

Re: QF #2 Duke vs #7 Maryland Saturday 2:30

Rewatched the game. I could buy an injury. He really had no explosiveness at all and he rarely if ever cut on the foot or rolled back or anything like that. A lot of just straight line moving. Also was sort of hopping on one leg at times

Re: Maryland 2024

UVA lost their previous 4 games to teams who were in the tournament prior to beating Saint Joe’s this weekend. The only Top 10 team they beat all year was Maryland. They’re a very good team, I don’t think there’s anything to suggest they’re playing “much better” than Hopkins right now aside from a g...

Re: QF #2 Duke vs #7 Maryland Saturday 2:30

O'Neill was a great player. One of the best of the last 4-5 years, won the Tewaaraton. Tremendous career. I'm not sure he ever lived up to the expectations of him coming in, however those were so sky high it may not have ever been possible I do think you can say that he can never became a *transcend...

Re: QF #3 Hopkins vs #6 Virginia Sunday @2:30

I don’t think the first round game for either team is a good indicator as to what we’ll see tomorrow Hopkins played a very slow, low possession game. Tomorrow’s will be more up tempo and while Hopkins is a slower team, they thrived in a faster game against UVA earlier in the year UVA showed a lot of...

Re: Maryland 2024

UVA has the poles to do that, but I think their shorties are weaker and the Terps can exploit that. They had some success with that in the first game. First game they were plagued with the clears and TOs. Hop isn't as athletic or rangy with the poles, but has a phenomenal group of shorties that were...

Re: Maryland 2024

Watching the game back and man....that Brennan goal at 9-7 came after a truly ATROCIOUS offensive possession. Nothing doing at all, don't even think there as a shot on goal yet. Right as the shot clock expired. An incredible game changing play. That possession and Duke getting it back up 3 with a mi...

Re: QF #2 Duke vs #7 Maryland Saturday 2:30

If that is the case, that's quite literally the second straight year Duke lost to a team who's best player was compromised, only out there to eat a pole, and they never switched the match-up and had their best cover guy on someone else. Would be pretty crazy if true

Re: QF #2 Duke vs #7 Maryland Saturday 2:30

It’s time for Danowski to go. That offense Duke had was pitiful. It’s like only 2 people had the green light to ever truly go. You had a dodger and a measley throwback, rise, wash and repeat as their o Probably a hard decision to make but surprised they stuck with Naso as long as they did with Wein...

Re: Maryland 2024

Keeping it close in the 2Q was huge, agreed. Duke is a great front runner, and they wait for their opponent to quit. But if the opponent hangs around, and punches back, they're not a problem solving team. Luke winning the FOs, Mac making saves (and offense did play well in the 2Q....when they didn't...

Re: QF #1 Notre Dame vs #8 Georgetown Saturday @ noon

Love or hate the antics, Azim, do you think that players on most teams enjoy playing Coaches who exhibit less antics? This may be an oversimplification but two coaching aspects take teams to the final four: recruiting strong players which Warne does and outreaching the other coach with Xs and Os. I...

Re: QF #2 Duke vs #7 Maryland Saturday 2:30

I wasn't surprised by this. Had the Terps winning 15-12 in a preview. It's not surprising that Jesse sent Ajax to Zawada. The last 2 years, Makar always took the bull dodger so Ajax could erase the opponents' distributor. Make the other team 1 dimensional. Disrupting McAdorey was also crucial, and ...

Re: Maryland 2024

The game changed at the Spanos ride back on the clear at 9-7. Brennan’s goal at the end to get it back to two was *huge*. When you’re within 2 with Wierman, you always got a shot. But that Spanos ride back was massive. They just couldn’t get it to within one, had so many possessions, and then a bad ...
