Re: Championship-ND Vs. MD On Monday, 05/27, At 12:00 PM

Did I hear right that ND has 20 seniors and grad students contributing to the team? Oh, sure, this abundance is a consequence of Covid, which is no one's fault or plan, but until this Covid year-or-two eligibility jiggering winds off of the rosters I'm putting an asterisk next to these super-teams....

Re: Collegiate Lacrosse Coverage is Lacking

It’s a niche sport. In the mid to late aughts there was a lot of interest in the sport and it looked like it had a massive head of steam (fastest growing sport and all that), so ESPN put a good amount of attention into it, there was more money and interest in it. Eventually that boom waned off and t...

Re: Notre Dame 2024

Who is not giving Notre Dame their due. Is there this massive group of people diminishing their accomplishments. We don’t have to pretend the first undefeated team a decade and a half wasn’t as good as they were to fight off invisible ND haters

Re: Way too early 2025 top 5

I am going to buck the trend in on Maryland. I don’t see a top 5 team there. They rode about 70% faceoff clip to make this run. Weirman and Ajax are not replaceable. I generally agree, but it all depends on who pops up in the portal now (for all teams). These Terps had a magical run on great coachi...

Re: Way too early 2025 top 5

After leaning some things on who people are losing (UMD) and others, I am going 1. Princeton 2. Cornell 3. ND 4. UMD 5. UVA For any Maryland fans here, I just want to know for sure: does Ruppel start in goal next year, or is there someone else? I assume Keethler is the fogo? And is that a concern? ...

Re: A Modest (Releasable) Rule Proposal?

Aren’t the technical/minor fouls all 30 seconds only? In which case most of those penalties would already be basically expired by the time the defense got possession and cleared it into the box

Re: Extra COVID year is over

We were trending that way even pre-COVID. Scanlan from Loyola to Cuse, Chris Gray from BU to UNC. But a move here or there isn’t the same as what we saw from summer 2020-2023

Re: Championship-ND Vs. MD On Monday, 05/27, At 12:00 PM

They lose their 2nd leading scorer/main initiator on offense in Pat Kav, their top 2 scorers from the midfield in Dobson and McClane, and about 50% of their scoring production in total They also lose 2 starters at close defense + multiple short sticks And of course they lose Entenmann in the cage T...

Re: Championship-ND Vs. MD On Monday, 05/27, At 12:00 PM

Top 5 team of all time! Does that make Georgetown the best 6-ranked team ever? Any team that loses a game goes to the back of the bus. The list starts and ends with undefeated teams. ND is a great team but not in the conversation. Watching you pick against the Irish all year has been glorious. I kn...

Re: Extra COVID year is over

There’s a handful of Ivy guys taking extra years but not nearly as many and very, very few who are true impact players. In general the list of grad students in the portal this year is hardly substantial.

Next year will be a return to the norm

Re: The Best Goalie of all time D1

Of the last few decades, it's Tillman Johnson Previous few, Larry Quinn and Bacigalupo have pretty much unimpeachable resumes but there were a lot of great ones Entenmann was very good, great throughout his career at points and particularly in the '23 tournament. But there were others right there wi...

Re: Championship-ND Vs. MD On Monday, 05/27, At 12:00 PM

Undefeated champions deserve deference. As you saw with ND, it’s so hard to go undefeated

But I would put ND above other recent #1 seed champions, like 2017 MD, 2014 Duke, 2012 Loyola. Probably on par with back to back Cuse in 08-09, maybe even better

Tillman’s only won 2 titles! He sucks! Not anywhere near a good coach like Corrigan or Tiffany or any of those dudes who….also have 2 titles

Re: Maryland 2024

Couldn’t have asked for anything more from this group. Someone had to lose to Notre Dame today, and it’s a testament to this team that they were the only other team besides ND to play their best lacrosse this month and make this run They found a way to recenter and regroup and take advantage of ever...

Ruppel is redshirting yes

Maybe woulda been worth putting the backup in just for regression but it wouldn’t have made a difference. ND played great, when they play great, they win

Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production

The alternative to the Rabil business would be more commercials or some Carc segment with Charlotte North. There are a lot bigger issues than Rabil/Tsai in the degradation of ESPN's broadcast, and it's mostly due to repeated budget cuts and a clearly bare thin production effort.

Re: Maryland 2024

They're tired, and when you're tired against ND, you're dead. There's no good option. That said, I love Mac, but he's left several saves on the table they had to have. They'd be losing either way, but there's been 2 or 3 you need your goalie to make and it'd be manageable. Nonetheless, it just wasn'...
