Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Take your p values and put them where the sun doesn't shine because they have no relevance here. 1. I believe any statistician - even if this was something that could be measured by probabilities and statistics - would tell you 5 kids in 7 years is a sample size incredibly too small to draw any con...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

So I ran the numbers. It's basically the probability of hitting a target 5 times out of 7 given the probability of success is 0.1 (maybe you're shooting artillery or something) What??? What??? Have you ever seen a professional play darts? Ever watched archery or shooting in the Olympics? Do you thi...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

UVA has been the top program for quite some time. They have success, solid education, and a beautiful campus. Lars has the easiest sell in all of lacrosse. UVa is not competing with 60 programs. Its really just a handful at most. There's actually probably at least a dozen teams out there with great...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

There are other top schools out there that get teams to final fours like Duke, MD, Notre Dame. UVA getting 5 out of 7 top players defies the laws of probability with 60+ programs out there. They are obviously giving full rides out and I suspect, something more. I have no inside knowledge, but somet...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Behind-the-scenes video of Millon's commitment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXpn1G9Q-4U PM was the first coach to call him at midnight. Crawley also called shortly after. Then they visited his house the next day. Hopkins was in his own words in his top 4. Ended up deciding to play with his brot...

https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/breaking-virginia-lands-no-1-junior-brendan-millon/62130 For the fifth time in seven recruiting cycles, Virginia has secured a commitment from the No. 1 player in the class, with the Wahoos continuing their recent hot streak by snagging top-ranked junior Brend...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Well then this is pretty embarrassing for you because you're wrong. The staff was very high on an attackman who happened to be listed as a 5-star on IL in this class and from what I understand they came close to landing him but he decided to go to a rival. That's the way the cookie crumbles sometim...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

If I get two four stars, there's a decent chance one of them blossoms into a 5 start (ie Collison) and it gets me two for the price of one and gives me some protection against injury. Anyway, you get the idea. Lol jesus christ somebody help you. They didn't recruit Collison because he was a 4-star ...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

So, hypothetically, if it costs .5 ride to get a five star and .25 of a full ride to get a four star, then I can get two four stars for the price of one five star. I don't know what the actual numbers are here, I'm just leveraging Lar's comments that you're not getting top players for nothing. If I ...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

If they can't get one five star recruit in three recruiting cycles, I would say they're not trying to. Maybe you have to give out .75 rides or something?? I don't know, but it would appear it isn't what this staff wants. Do you really want guys coming in thinking they're all that? Or a bunch of star...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

This staff doesn't seem to be interested in recruiting five stars, or isn't willing to pay the price for them. Of course, a team is more than the sum of its parts. The previous staff got their share of five stars, but it didn't exactly work out for them except for one year, 2015. If you get a class ...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

With Billings/Claiborne/Lumpris (if he doesn't choose football) and this kid - Hopkins certainly seems to developed an opportunity to mold a SSDM corp in the future full of big/fast/strong athletes - there's alot more to playing the position but these four have all the attributes you can't coach. T...

I predict 6 wins next Spring.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

I wouldn't mind a 14th game against UMBC or Albany or something, but then that's another midweek game that puts you on short rest against Virginia or Carolina. I can see the logic in keeping it at 13. Jax, St. Joe's, Utah, and Delaware were RPI no man's land games. Last year they weren't good enoug...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

- Need a new man-down D specialist without Ruddy. I think Stoebner is a good candidate for this but who knows. - Hawley frees up wing reps for a short-stick. The existing SSDMs + Aviles may absorb most of this. That said, this is a spot where if a freshman happens to show a preternatural ability to...

I've only seen H. Chauvette, Sorichetti, and Kilrain play in person at the UA event.
H. Chauvette is an elite talent.
With 10 four star recruits, you'd have to think at least a couple of them will crack the lineup.
