No, I still think a W in the semis puts us safely in, and a L still isn’t completely fatal. Should root for Georgetown and anyone but Michigan in those tournaments now.
Win the Ivy tournament and get into the other side of the bracket from Penn State and ND

Re: ivy league 2024

Overall seeding and the #4 ILT tournament are still to be determined. Fourth slot in the ILT: Still up for grabs between Princeton and Brown, with more paths for Princeton. A win for Princeton vs. Yale and they are in (and with at least the #2 seed!); a loss for Princeton and they are still in if H...

Re: UVA @ Syracuse Sat. 4/20 2 pm

If UVA loses to ND next week, and again in the first round of the ACC tournament, are they in danger of missing the NCAAs?

Finishing with four straight losses and only one top 10 win (MD) is not a good look.

Re: Cornell 2024

Congrats to the Big Red! 15-8 over Harvard. Now root for Princeton later today. A Princeton victory today and a Cornell victory next week over Dartmouth will give Cornell the hosting privilege for the Ivy Tourney! I would much rather see Penn and Yale win out and win the three way tie-break. This m...

Re: Cornell 2024

Too much discussion on what fans from another generation would argue over - "who is better Mantle or Mays." I'd prefer to focus on the next two Ivy games. Why?: The Big 10 will get 3 NCAA bids (1 AQ and 2 at larges) - MD, PSU, and Hopkins -The ACC will get 4 bids (1 AQ and 3 at larges) - ...

Re: Cornell 2024

semsox is correct. There is a possible scenario that "we" wanted Penn to win, not Harvard. That is, if Harvard had won and Cornell lost to Harvard, there would have been a scenario where Cornell would have been out with a 4-2 record (depending on P & Y results). Now that Harvard has l...

Re: Duke Fans

Word around LI is O’Neill is nursing a bad injury. If I am Duke and I already have clinched an NCAA birth, I sit him, and start Slusher. I don’t see any benefit of having him hobble around out there. good chance he's been nursing it for a while from what i gather (hammy?). if i'm duke, i don't beli...

Re: 2024 top 20

I bet the media (and Quint) will keep Maryland and Duke above Denver and Cornell.

Duke deserves to be where you have them, since their best wins are against Princeton, BU, and Richmond.

Re: Cornell 2024

Can't wait to see media poll this week. Last week, #7 Cornell lost on the road in double overtime to #15 Penn and fell to #13, while Penn rose to #12 This week, #4 Syracuse lost on the road in double overtime to #13 Cornell. I bet the ACC team's fall in the rankings will be minimal, as will Cornell'...

Re: ivy league 2024

I believe the Ivy League is 3-3 vs ACC - UVA beat Harvard on the road Duke beat Princeton at home UNC beat Penn at home Princeton beat UNC on the road Penn beat Duke on the road. Cornell beat Syracuse at home Cornell vs ND at neutral site still upcoming. I am willing to concede that at this point th...

Re: ivy league 2024

After wondering if Duke and UNC are going to North next year to Philly and Princeton, I decided to look at the ACC non-conference Home/Road splits. Home Road School 6 4 UVA 6 4 UNC 8 3 Syr (First 8 games at home!) 5 2 ND 8 3 Duke 33 16 ACC. By contrast, Home Road School 4 3 Cornell 4 4 Brown 3 4 Pen...

Re: Lacrosse Analytics

I have great news! We are going to take a look back at the 2022 MLAX selection process. But it's not what you think. The thing that always irked me about last year's at-large choices was not which teams got in and which were left out. It was that it felt like there wasn't a consistent internal logi...

Re: Cornell 2023

This is one of those random pieces of analysis where I believe that my calculations are correct... Both Cornell and Princeton have strong contenders for both Ivy POY and First Team All-Ivy goaltender. Some statistics going into next Saturday's game: POY: CJ Kirst vs Coulter Mackesy: Mackesy: vs Ivy...

Re: Lacrosse Analytics

If I am reading it correctly, Kirst is #1 in production and #3 in efficiency,
while Cormier is about #9 in production and #1 in efficiency

I don't believe that the quadrants in this particular graph do anything more than serve as visual aids.

Re: Cornell 2023

One of the great things about our coaching staff is their willingness to mix and match the various lines, trying different combinations even in closely contested games. We see new faces with significant playing time on a frequent basis. The level of trust the coaches have in non-starters is refresh...

Re: Ivy League 2023

Isn’t it just simpler to force Columbia to field a Division I men’s lacrosse team and then have an Ivy League tournament in which all 8 teams compete? I mean, when you need an Ivy League degree to understand the tie breakers, then maybe y’all should have a little talk with Columbia and straighten t...

Current RPI: rpi.jpg https://pro.lacrossereference.com/rpi-d1-men?t=epxlwifospeivmd Thanks. The formula needs adjustment. Winning at Uva is a lot harder than beating geargetown at home in early February. Rutgers is harder to quantify, but 16 coaches in a row know that's an extraordinary win. Where ...

there is no defense for notre dame not being in last year via the criteria, other than it is now entirely the committee's ball. this is what we are now signed up for. It has always been entirely the committee's ball. This is not something new. The criteria are guidelines. The committee is free to i...

...OSU has lost 6 of 8; in 5 of those 6 losses, they weren't competitive. As in: The game was all-but over by halftime. Of their 5 wins, two are against good teams, the other 3 are against, to put it mildly, "lesser" programs. To their credit, the did take care of business against Detroit...
