Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
This is far from a done deal and there is no way the NCAA is going to grant another “full” season to a kid who’s played in 6 games this year (almost half their regular season). Which is appropriate because they shouldn’t. NCAA is not known for being lenient when it comes to extending eligibility. T...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
the choice should be which solution has the fewest negatives and IMO the one chosen by the NCAA was right, 5th year for all current players. This is not what the NCAA has chosen. They have just said they think it’s appropriate to grant “eligibility relief” with details on what that means to come. I...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
The NCAA hasn’t even said this is a done deal. Their Council Coordination Committee (whatever that is) has simply said that they think it would be “appropriate” to provide “eligibility relief” and that they were going to examine it further and get back with details. I highly doubt the NCAA is going ...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
If everyone gets another year, it's going to DESTROY 2022 recruiting - the 21's already have their commitments, so when the 2022's head to college, there will be 4 years of players ahead of them, presumably with all the scholarship money (and roster spots, maybe?) accounted for. There will be virtu...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
Pros: - Another year of eligibility to play if you want - Play another year if you're good enough and someone wants to - Defer the real world another year Cons: - Definitely not a guarantee of a 5th year - some coach has got to really want you to take a roster and/or scholarship spot away from a re...

Re: COVID 19 a measured response
Have you guys been paying attention to what has happened in the collegiate and professional sports world over the past 48 hours? Do you really think HS games are going to be played and that somehow these colleges, the NCAA and the pro-leagues unilaterally took action that was unnecessary and not bas...

Re: School Closings
I suspect we are within a week of all NCAA spring seasons being cancelled. March Madness and the Frozen Four may continue, but if so there will be no fans and possibly even reduced fields. I'm hearing parents of spring sport athletes already talking to lawyers threatening lawsuits which is so sad to...

Re: Ivy League 2020
Yes, this is a crushing blow for these athletes and their parents and I feel for all of them. Realize this will not be an Ivy League/NESCAC only issue a week from now. This is far more important than lacrosse. These kids and parents will end up going through this realizing there's a hell of a lot mo...

Re: Ivy League 2020
I will try to explain the idea of missing two fall semesters to get a fifth year. A four year degree=8 semesters of classes and tuition Take this year, the season is cancelled so it counts as 0 years lax and one year(2 semesters) tuition. If you want four years of lax you need four more semesters o...

Re: Ivy League 2020
Regarding 5th years, each of these teams have roster size restrictions in addition to scholarship restrictions so there’s not going to be a lot of room for 5th years even if the NCAA grants it which would require them to change their rules. Assuming that happens maybe Teat, Ierlan, Sowers and a few ...

FIrst Coronavirus case in the US was January 19, 2020. By March 10, 2020, 51 days later, there are 972 confirmed cases and 28 deaths from it. I am in no way trying to diminish the severity of this virus, but why now, why with this one? These are the stats for the "regular flu" from the CDC website: "CDC estimates that influenza has resulted in between 9 million – 45 million illnesses, between 140,000 – 810,000 hospitalizat...

How are the other Yale women's sports faring? TLD raises the right point. Yale doesn't care about women's sports in the same way they do about men's sports. Never has. They are perennial under performers on the women's side while Yale has multiple men's sports winning National titles (lacrosse, hoc...

Re: Byrne: From Notre Dame to Harvard
I have no idea. Just meant to point out that they’ve never had problem getting great recruiting classes. But for some reason the program still remains a 500+/- squad no matter who is coaching.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 7:22 am
So...what do you imagine "happens to those recruits once they get there"?
