Re: 2024 Bracketology
So I'd say the selection and seeding protocol worked perfectly this year. Nobody ever wants to congratulate the system, but it worked. Maybe you can argue amongst the seeds? Patrick Stevens last night mentioned that if all the seeds win, it would be the first time since 2004 that the bracket went s...

Re: #8 Georgetown vs Penn State Sunday @ 2:30
Not surprised by this result whatsoever. Penn State came out firing, but people need to realize that Georgetown is built different this year. So much for Penn State being better at every position and winning by five goals I guess? Not really interested in grave dancing, but very typical for Georget...

Re: Top Frosh 2024?
Kabiri is going to be a serious problem for everyone over the next 3 years. He's so smart and so slick. For as great as I think Millon is going to be...and if Duffy remains at UNC, you know, what will he really do...Kabiri this year was pretty sublime. And yikes...Mackesy is back with Burns and Kab...

Re: #8 Georgetown vs Penn State Sunday @ 2:30
Insert "danger zone" gif here.
Cotter mentioned PSU's inability to hold on to games or lose leads. That's due to face-off play. They're doing alright so far, and Georgetown is throwing the ball away to help things out.
Boy...Georgetown needed that goal. They need stack some possessions.

Re: Maryland 2024
McAdorey was back at midfield yesterday with Williams back at attack. Who knows who will play where against Duke? If McAdorey is back at midfield, I'd guess Ajax would take Zawada. Nothing like an old B1G match up! I really like how Burlace has evolved. Off-ball guy last year. Taking more responsib...

Re: #8 Georgetown vs Penn State Sunday @ 2:30
Penn State's only weakness is at the FOGO. Will Ball be able to dominate that spot? Looking at Georgetown's games, their FOGO spot has been up and down. They've had some great outings (2x against Villanova) but have also had some clunkers (ND, JHU, Providence). That spot is so match-up dependent. Bu...

Re: Maryland 2024
Curious if Ajax takes O'Neill or Zawada. I assume he is used to negate Zawada's speed, then hope some combination of strength and slides can contain the MVP of the world. Ajax is a disruptor. Given O'Neill's size, too, you need a bigger body on him. I'd guess Zapp will head to McAdorey now that he'...

Re: Maryland 2024
Running Erksa and Malever, especially together, at midfield changes the dynamic of the offense. Tillman talked in the post-gamer about how it forced Princeton to make coverage choices that got them uncomfortable. Instead of using picks to get switches, which can also take time, running them both out...

Re: 2024 Bracketology
pretty easy to google the formulas used, but No, it does not include margin of victory. (no bonus points for 'Bama beating on the Little Sisters of teh Poor by 70.) For example, one that used to be popular: Though the BCS is now defunct, its calculation for strength of schedule lives on. This syste...

Re: 2024 Bracketology
From a statistical perspective, the issue to me isn't the RPI or Strength of Schedule (SOS) being used as individual composite variables. To me, it's the use of both in conjunction. The RPI is a strength of schedule indicator (opponent's win%, opponent's opponents' win%). RPI and SOS share significa...

Re: 2024 Bracketology
Look, much respect to Terry Foy in general, but this looks like some serious hopium: "When it comes to this year’s bubble, I think that’s the challenge. Princeton is No. 8, Penn State is No. 9 in RPI. Penn State’s résumé is better than Princeton’s — they have an equal number of quality wins and...

Re: Maryland 2024
Given some of the bracket projections (MD at 7 or 6), consider me surprised. I know the committee looks at the whole season and not just the last 2, but looking ahead, does the team have the confidence to win? On one hand, Tills' scheduling made it possible to be in this position. On the other hand,...

Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
A broadcast team talking delis, chicken parm sandwiches, traffic, workout routines, haircuts!!! is different from not keeping track of other pertinent games. No argument for me on those things, and I agree that stuff is annoying. But people have also complained any time that they mention teams that...

Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
Matt Ward just gave D1 coaches and players a big lesson during the UVa v ND game: the "Big Hit" isn't worth the risk/reward metric. He's 100% right. Picture the game-changing NCAA tournament game where fans are whining about how it shouldn't be 2-3 minutes. Don't risk it. Hip check. Push ...

Re: Maryland 2024
On the bright side the past 2 years haven’t been bad years to be down. ND basically has dominated - look at UVA, I guarantee they started the season with Natty in full mind, what do you think they are thinking now. My point a team like UVA with complete studs will most likely be watching on Memoria...

Re: Maryland 2024
Opponents have such little respect for Maryland shooters that when the ball goes behind the goal, every off-ball defensive player basically sloughs in to 5-and-5. Maryland midfielder also slough in, so the recoveries for the defense are pretty easy. Outside of Siracusa and occasionally Spanos, no on...
