Re: National Championship — Northwestern vs. Boston College

Catch and shoot rarely gets appreciated. Even at the professional level. Cormier broke the all time UVA goals record this year and didn’t even get drafted by the PLL. She seems similar.

Re: National Championship — Northwestern vs. Boston College

Well, I guess we are back to square one. We disagree. Yes, it was an athletic move to kick her leg out after it was clear the shot had beaten her stick. That was the “good” part of the save. But she was also lucky the ball hit her shin. The bottom line is she made the save. Whether you think it was...

6 losses and not reaching the final four with that roster is not a good look.

Yale will be solid. Final four this year or likely next as the 25 yr olds leave all the other programs.

Re: NCAA Tournament 2024

100% true - See Denver Pios 2023. And they smartly took advantage of another terrible rule (running clock on a penalty in the last minute) to knock out Stanford last weekend. Still some more changes needed.

Re: Recruiting

While I do wish the minutes played was posted, I do find Inside Lacrosse’s fantasy points to be a good proxy for action a player is getting. Unless of course the role doesn’t yield stats (the defender who clears but doesn’t get GBs or CTOs / the attacker who really just gets hockey assists).

Re: Games Today

Penn are up 8-5 going into the final quarter against Yale. Probably the most impactful game of the day in terms of the committee decisions tonight around seeding and hosting. After watching this game, it’s clear neither one of these teams belong in the top 8. Just don’t think either one of them is ...

Def sick of them. But honestly it’s more the way Carc and others cover them / talk about them. Not their fault.

Unfort it looks like it will get worse from here over the next three weeks.

Re: Coaching Carousel 2024

In my admittedly limited experience some of the PL schools mentioned made some very questionable offers (certainly not all, as there are good players at all those schools). I didn’t see what they were seeing and I know I’m not the only person to have made that observation. What I can tell you about...

Re: WLAX Bracketology

If Penn and Yale roll on Friday, you’d have to bet on Yale in the finals given location and previous game. You don’t see running time very often in a league match-up 1 v 2. That being said both teams are very solid and had some epic battles last year. I’ve seen them both numerous times and would giv...

Re: Games Today

Thankfully the “grad” part of grad transfer will start to fade next season a bit, and the only ones doing it will be women that missed a season due to injury. That being said Stony Brook, Denver and the ACC / Big 10 will continue to get the great transfers (and some meh) and the Ivies will not. Of t...

Re: Ivy League

Great summary. Thanks for this. And with the win Penn should have earned their automatic bid, joining Yale in the NCAAs. Princeton with their chance in a couple hours, but less likely. Harvard and Brown’s RPIs will tick up as Yale and Penn climb a bit in the rankings but they’ll likely miss the NCAA...

Re: Ivy League

Yup agreed. You can only win the games on your schedule and with longstanding local rivals and real academics, it’s hard to book a full out of conference slate. Getting Denver, BC and Stanford on the schedule was well done. You’re right - the sophomores did fade a bit last year, but they’re now juni...

Re: Ivy League

After last night, Penn has to be top 10.

We’ll see if Yale is as well after Brown, BC, and Penn games over the next eight days.

Should be a third in the NCAA tourney across Princeton, Harvard or maybe the next tier.

Re: WLAX Bracketology

Ivy League has to get three teams in this year. Ex Columbia, the other seven teams are 33-8 out of league with no terrible losses (Duke and Penn St - not great). But the other six losses are Michigan (by 1), UVA (2x), Stony Brook, Notre Dame (by 1), and Florida.

Inside Lacrosse just named her the best freshman of the 1H of the season. I think they must have meant during the game. After the whistle not so much.

Decent start for the Ivies - 17-4 OOC to date. Certainly some cupcakes - but a quality win or three in there as well.

Re: Fall Lacrosse Schedules

Let’s take it down a notch. Saw CH’s game live over 100 times. No idea what her impact will be at the college level, but never seen anything like it at the youth / HS level in any sport. To this day I have no idea if she’s righty or lefty. There’s a reason the Stanford coach was at every single minu...

Re: Fall Lacrosse Schedules

That is indeed not a character trait. She couldn’t be a better teammate. Don’t know how it will translate at the next level but seen her play 100+ times and coaches / teammates wouldn’t let her shoot so often if it wasn’t their best chance to score. She’s incredible on the ride (we’ll see with rule ...

Re: Recruiting

Don’t know much about Brown’s new coach, but certainly a hill to climb after missing every Ivy League tourney. Heard great things about the new coach though. As for Yale, I don’t know what your daughter wants but that coach told mine, “you can be a great lacrosse player, a great student, and have an...
