Re: ivy league 2024
Should the NFL go to a system where, after the season , each division plays a post season tournament where 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3 and the winners play to see who makes the playoffs? When the lacrosse playoffs start generating the kind of revenue that the NFL playoffs do, or even the kind of revenu...

Re: ivy league 2024
Terry Foy has Penn in, FWIW. I'm not sure who would grab that last at-large over Penn, to be honest. They certainly have a deserving resume. He posed the issue as Penn/Penn State Wow. I didn't realize he had Penn State out. I figured PSU bricked the game against Michigan, assuming they were already...

Re: Liberty League 2024
Both the Union and RPI broadcast teams are exceptional, in both football and lacrosse.
Congrats to RPI. Would love to see them win it all this year.

Re: Home Stretch / National Rankings
Nice to see Ithaca getting some love on the regional rankings.
For the life of me, I can't figure how #10 Ithaca @ 15-1 is three slots below #7 William Smith @ 15-2 in the national poll when Ithaca annihilated WS 16-4 less than a month ago and when both teams have similar SoS.

Re: Cornell 2024
One wonders what the game against Michigan might have looked like if Penn State had put any effort into it whatsoever.faircornell wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 10:46 pm One wonders if PSU should have taken their foot off the gas at some point vs UMD and saved some energy for their next game.

Re: Cornell 2024
It hurts to watch teams like Denver and JHU and PSU lay complete eggs in the league tourneys with no risk of losing a bid and have those putrid efforts in somewhat meaningless games cost Cornell a bid. Couldn't agree more. I understand the NCAA wanting to create some end of season drama but if ther...

Re: Cornell 2024
Well, the bracket isn't set yet. They are position to be the last at large team depending on the results of Georgetown/Villanova, Michigan/PSU and maybe even Penn/Princeton? I think the Michigan/PSU game is most consequential (Michigan wins and they're likely out), and the results of the other game...

Re: Cornell 2024
Great season for the Big Red. Sorry to see it possibly end this way. Hats off to Penn for a well executed game. +1 Disappointing result tonight. You just had a feeling at the time that the Denver result was going to loom large. A great season; sorry if it ends this. Good luck to Princeton and Penn.

Re: Cornell 2024
laf also has Cornell in top 8 selection-wise, but updated prior to the conclusion of the last B1G game last night. But I think all that changes if they don't win tonight. Even with a win tonight, a Michigan win in the Big 10 tourney could render the Ivy League a one-bid league, as shocking as that ...

Re: Cornell 2024
If Cornell is top seed and hosting, why are they playing in the 2nd game on Friday? They are the main act. Yale Princeton is the opening act. That is the way it almost always goes. Do you think the talk around championship weekend and the early game winner having an advantage is overblown? I am jus...

Re: Cornell 2024
Congratulations to all the Big Red honorees! This is the type of post that might be taken the wrong way, but I am genuinely curious why Willem Firth might have been selected ahead of Ryan Goldstein for Ivy ROY. While Firth outscored Goldstein with all of the Cornell competitions taken into account,...

Well, color me skeptical. Ben was fired mid-contract. I simply don't believe he didn't know why he was fired.laxfan1313 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 8:07 pm OK I'll concede that it isn't "private" that Ben doesn't know why he was relieved of duty. Does that tell you why he was relieved of duty? LOL!

Re: Coaches Fired for Cause
People who post here and think they have the right to know about private personnel matters as well as the medical condition of a player (another issue) are mistaken. I mean, not really a "private personnel matter." The termination of a very successful head coach mere months before a highl...

Re: Coaches Fired for Cause
...I feel the need to combat the myth that Ben DeLuca was fired because of the hazing incident involving his lacrosse team. Ok; fair enough. Ben De Luca, a highly successful lacrosse coach and alum, was fired with cause in the wake of a highly public and embarrassing hazing scandal involving the Co...
