Re: Hobart 2024
Agreed, Ketch. I'm hoping SU is cocky and thinking about their next game. No matter what, we have to play with nothing to lose and for all 4 quarters. Every statistical victory would be a great bonus for us. More gb, fewer turnovers, better clear percentage.... Play it like a scrimmage preparing for...

Re: Hobart 2024
Too young, too injured for sure. But nothing to lose. Why not try some things? Would love to see Ward in that feeder role that Mandown mentioned. Would love to see Bach shooting more on the run. Maybe rotate Rosa in regularly for a few more inside shots. My concern for Saturday is that we don't hold...

Re: Hobart 2024
Is that sarcasm? It’s frustration. They are better than how they have been playing. They need to find that thing that propels them into playing a full game on point. I do think we started out sloppy especially the defensive. We can’t afford that going into the A10. I hope they come out strong next ...

Re: Hobart 2024
Is that sarcasm? One step at a time, man. Hobart will face a tough day next week, and I gave Lemoyne the edge today based on the poor performance over the past few weeks. Today they shot on goal, held possession, earned ground balls, and gave the bench some playing time. Let's see what they can do w...

Re: Hobart 2024
Best half of the season, except maybe first half against Michigan. Now, let's see 4 quarters and lots of the bench in the late 3rd and 4th.

Re: Hobart 2024
Not to be captain obvious, but one way to help the defense would be to have the offense hold possession longer. Some of that 69 rating comes from games like the Cornell game or Michigan game in which the D was flat out for a whole half. We've had 20 minute scoring droughts in most games this year, i...

Re: Hobart 2024
Man-Down, you are spot on. We get really great players who were overlooked by others for some reason, most often because of size. Two examples of that are Delano and Patterson. We also might pick up a really good player who was overlooked or developed a bit later (Madonna and Aslanian) or someone wh...

Re: Hobart 2024
I don't think Raymond is the problem. If it is the lack of quality players, then the problem is recruiting. You can blame that on coaches, but when you look at the numbers, Hobart has had difficulty attracting students in general, not just lacrosse players. The current student population is less tha...

Re: Hobart 2024
Is it just youth at this point? Or poor execution? It's not like Brundage has never coached an explosive offense for us. On defense I'm more skeptical. We've been letting in lots of goals for a while now. Maybe time for a different system. SMAIN says zone ... at this point, why not? At least work it...

Re: Hobart 2024
Ditto OBM on ball movement. The O seems to be swinging the ball around too predictably and mechanically. It's hard to say loosen up when they are still throwing the ball away, but that's the only way I can see them picking up the pace of ball movement. Of course, that depends on putting in the work ...

Heard about this in the podcast, but for those who missed it, Coach Terry Muffley passed last week: https://hwsathletics.com/news/2024/3/5/ ... ffley.aspx

Re: Hobart 2024
42 degrees and steady rain in Geneva. It's still scheduled for the Boz. I am concerned for sloppy play with wet strings, but this is also the perfect opportunity to pull it together. No Herlihy today. I heard Considine is out for the season.

Re: Hobart 2024
Tomorrow isn't a "must win," but it is a "must learn." I don't think Considine or Herlihy will be back by tomorrow. I hope Bach is healthy, but who knows. Coach seems to think Barthelme will be healthy. That puts (healthy) pressure on the young guys to step up. Peterkin is starti...

Re: Hobart 2024
Yes, time to change things up. You hate to innovate on the fly, but the season record doesn't matter as much as the A10 performance, so might as well use RoMo to try some new things. I completely agree with BartfromBoston that part of the problem is where we are taking our shots from. I think we hav...

Re: Hobart 2024
Freshman goalie deserves a start after last game. I hope they play like they've got nothing to lose. And I would love to see some smiles on the faces. I hear they are a close knit bunch, and friends on campus tell me they are good guys. Now if they can cut loose a bit on O, making crisp passes and f...

Re: Hobart 2024
Haven't heard about any layoffs. I can't it believe it was the head Strength and Condiioning coach (Gray?). He was assistant AD too. Must have been an assistant. Either that or it was something besides cost cutting. Look, there is no mystery that Hobart and William Smith are in similar dire financia...

Re: Hobart 2024
I thought the O worked very well when it was working, which was for 2.5 quarters. I am not sure why we hit 5 posts, or why we our accuracy was so low, but the score should have been much higher. What I noticed was that when the team started to play more of a control game, especially in the second ha...

Re: Hobart 2024
I thought it was the best podcast this year. It was serious and somber. They simply need to play to their ability. Lower the turnovers, increase groundballs, tighten the D, clear better, and hold longer possessions on O. He's not wrong about any of it. Now .... a) can they do it and b) can they do i...

Re: Hobart 2024
Could be sick. I've heard there is lots of illness going round campus.
Hobart has the chance to do well this season. They have the talent. Two lousy games are a poor start, but they can turn it around. Tomorrow won't be easy.
