Yesterday, in the First Round, as expected, Pitt beat Washington, Michigan beat Virginia, UCLA beat Colorado, Delaware beat Georgia, and BYU beat Texas. Not as expected, #11 Boston College beat #2 San Diego State, #10 Cal Poly beat #7 Northeastern, and #9 Virginia Tech beat #8 Santa Clara.
As a result, in the Computer Rankings, Boston College moved from #11 to #9, Cal Poly moved from #10 to #11 (despite Cal Poly’s win over Northeastern, Boston College jumped over Cal Poly with their win over #2 San Diego State, thus, dropping Cal Poly down one spot), and Virginia Tech moved from #9 to #8.
Today, in the Quarterfinals, #1 Pittsburgh plays #11 Cal Poly, #5 Michigan plays #9 Boston College, #4 UCLA plays #6 Delaware, and #3 BYU plays #8 Virginia Tech. At 4 PM, the losing teams from yesterday will play each other in the Consolation Bracket.
