This is the number of points each team started with for the 2018 season and how each team earned their points.  From these numbers, we started the 10% Ante ranking system for the 2018 season.

How 10% Ante works is relatively simple.

After every game, the losing team gives the winning team 10% of their points and… We make two adjustments:

1 – Games Played – At any point during the season, some teams have played 3 or more games more than other teams.  As a consequence, all team points are adjusted so no team has an advantage due to their playing more games.

2 – Winning Team Bonus – Each losing team loses 10% of their points and each winning team receives these 10% of the losing team’s points.  And, along with this 10%, the winning team receives a Winning Bonus.  This Bonus is based on the losing team’s number of points relative to the number of points of every other team in D1 Lacrosse.  If a team beats the team with the lowest number of points in D1 Lacrosse (e.g. NJIT), the winning team receives Bonus Points of 0.  If a team beats the team with the highest number of points in D1 Lacrosse (e.g. Maryland), the winning team receives Bonus Points of another 10% of the losing teams points.  For every other team within this scale of lowest-to-highest and 0% Bonus-to-10% Bonus, the winning team receives the bonus points accordingly.  (As a logistical point, when a teams loses, the 10% of their points is taken from the losing team and given to the winning team.  For the Bonus, the Bonus is given by 10% ante, not by the losing team.)
