Looking at the stat line from yesterday’s loss to RIT, one thing was glaring. McGrath and Davis, two of York’s top offensive talents, were absent from the score sheet.

I know York has a fairly deep talent pool, but as other posters have mentioned in other threads, at the D3 level your top players are quite a bit better than the next tier down.

I don’t know whether it was a function of RIT’s shut down D being just that good or what. But what I do know is in BIG games, your BIG players need to play BIG.
(Did I mention BIG?)

Oh I did, that’s on the same page where I found the stats I was actually talking about. Having watched the game, ball control and time of possession (both the values given by gb’s) wasn’t the issue for York. Two players who normally represent a large % of their points were non-factors, that’s what I had a look at during and after the game.

(You’re just trying to get this thread to 4 pages, aren’t you? ;) )

York also played some freshman that haven’t played much to date. Possibly something Child’s changed up due to scouting report but made me scratch my head.

Believe Davis hit 2 or 3 posts but you are right about McGrath not being a factor. Truly believe York could beat them if they played them again.

On to Stevenson 😏

After 3 quarters York leads mustangs 8-4. Yet gbs are about 50/50 at 26 to 23. The difference? Davis and McGrath, representing over 30% of York’s goals.

Davis and McGrath end the day contributing on 5 out of the 12 York goals.

Cabrini will be a big challenge, and York will need their big guns firing.

Big guns indeed fired. Pfeiffer, Davis and McGrath combined to factor in on 8 of York’s 11 goals. As they go, so goes York.

Do you like this move personally? Do you think it’ll help or hurt the program?

Personally, not high on the move. Possible other sports it makes more sense but really only see Stevenson as a possible challenge in lacrosse. Strong OOC schedule will be a must (not that they aren’t already doing this).

It’s a necessity. The CAC is dying & York needed to get out. Better to do so before all of the options are picked over and you then have absolutely no choice in the matter. Especially when travel funds are a consideration.

York has done a good job building it’s resume to that of a respected program, and will warrant strong regional OOC games in the foreseeable. They don’t need to play Salisbury 2 times a year for strength of schedule at this point.

Bottom line- The reduction in chance of a pool C bid is offset by the greatly increased chance of earning an AQ.

Ian is a great pickup for York. One of my sons played on the same club team a few years back. Good goalie and nice kid. It was a disappointment to lose him to Rock!

4th annual “Childs Bowl” today at 2pm as Jason Childs lead St Mary’s plays host to Brandon’s York.

3-0 in favor of Brandon is the history here, and I can’t envision St Mary’s bucking the trend this year.
