10 Stars

Acknowledged as one of the greatest movies of all time. Certainly among my top ten. Cinematic perfection.
Great movie, one of my all-time favorites. Terrific acting by Poitier and Steiger, small-town Deep South meets the Swinging 60's, pulsating stuff.

Interesting fight. So nice of those guys to stand and wait patiently to get their butts kicked. Had it been a real fight they would have just unloaded their guns on the guy and sent him off to Dream Land.

Just put in a Alexandra Daddario movie. Might suck, obviously it won’t because my future wife is in it, but so far not bad.

Die in a Gunfight
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, Malcolm
See Jesus, Judas; Caesar, Brutus

Rotten Tomatoes rated 9.6
IMDb - 7.6

Highly rated back in the day. Largely forgotten but still quite funny.

Bullitt - 1968

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062765/

IMDb rated 7.4 stars
Rotten Tomatoes 9.4

Back in the day this was very highly regarded by film fans. The chase scene was just incredibly intense. Beautiful Jacqueline Bisset was utterly stunning. Robert Vaughn's supporting role was superb as always (defo one of the best actors of his time). Steve McQueen - he delivered his lines in restrained tones but nonetheless gave a dominating performance. Support cast, scenery, plot, intensity ~ a great movie.

Also excellent. My dad let me watch the old Hitchcock TV show along with the old Twilight Zone show so I got into his movies early on. Mostly all good, couple of duds but great W/L record

Comrade X

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032349/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

McKinley B. "Mac" Thompson, American reporter in Moscow, smuggles out uncensored news under the alias "Comrade X," but hotel valet Vanya discovers his secret. Vanya fears for the safety of his daughter Golubka ("Theodore") and blackmails Mac into helping her leave the country. Mac is happier about his task once he meets lovely Theodore, but can he convince her of his sincerity? The anti-communist humor becomes alternately grim and farcical.

Principle writer was Ben Hecht.

Starring Clark Gable and beautiful Hedy Lamarr.

I also liked the support role played by Natasha Lytess as Olga. Miss Lytess got very few roles in her time despite being a great actress. She lacked the beauty of her peers. But she became a great acting coach and ultimately became Marilyn Monroe's # 1 lover.

IMDb gave it a 7.6 but I gave it a solid 10. Great dancing and pageantry. Superb acting. Kid who played Peck's Bad Boy was pretty good as well.

Cat On A Hot Tin Roof

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051459/

I've always been a humongous Burl Ives fan and absolutely loved his role in this gem of a movie. Great cast and acting with Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor getting many cinematic awards for their work. While, indeed, their portrayals were meritorious, I thought Mr Ives' performance was what enhanced everyone else's work. The movie may seem like a major league soap opera but it does address human dramas and life's realities.

Anybody else looking forward to debut of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer in two weeks?

Shot in both a combination of IMAX 65MM and 65MM large-format film. The IMAX film print is over 11 miles long. It is also the first film to shoot sections on IMAX black and white photographic film. Amazing that they used minimal visual effects and analog film for a picture over three hours in length

"And yet, for the Trinity Test, Nolan has already revealed the Oppenheimer team was able to simulate the explosion without using VFX. Practical movie magic, just the way Nolan likes it."

https://www.motionpictures.org/2023/06/ ... 00-pounds/

Another interesting historical tidbit - The film is sure to revive some debates about the end of WWII. Worth noting: Purple Heart medals awarded in Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf, War on Terror—all 370,000 since 1945—were manufactured for the anticipated invasion of Japan. We have 120,000 remaining.
