Severna Park at Hereford tonight. SP has handled their schedule with ease, while Hereford has had it's challenges with county foes Towson and Dulaney. Bulls have @Broadneck for their last game of the regular season.

Hereford also lost to Northern (Calvert). I think SP wins this one by at least 4

It's not the same game with the same meaning as years past, but Bel Air beat Fallston last night 12-11.

CMW takes the Harford public crown, beating previously undefeated Patterson Mill 13-9. CMW led 8-3 at halftime.

North Harford beats Fallston 6-4.

Playoff brackets announced
4A https://mpssaa.countysportszone.com/?bracket=1161
3A https://mpssaa.countysportszone.com/?bracket=1160
2A https://mpssaa.countysportszone.com/?bracket=1159
1A https://mpssaa.countysportszone.com/?bracket=1158

My final 4 predictions
4A North (Urbana), South (Eleanor Roosevelt), East (Severna Park), West(Richard Montgomery)
Severna Park over Urbana in finals

3A North (Towson), South (Northern), East (Centennial), West(Westminster)
Westminster over Northern in finals

2A North (Hereford), South (Marriotts Ridge), East (Parkside), West(Damascus)
Marriotts Ridge over Damascus in finals

1A North (Douglass), South (Overlea), East (Patterson Mill), West(Smithburg)

Final Predictions:

4A: SP (East) over RM (West)... Urbana (North) over Roosevelt (South)
SP over Urbana
Only 2 teams have a real chance at winning 4A. SP wins a 4th straight 4A title and will probably win a 5th and maybe 6th in the coming years.

3A: Northern (South) over Towson (North)... Westminster (West) over Centennial (East)
Westminster over Northern
Westminster is loaded with talent and is going to repeat as 3A champs

2A: Glenelg (South) over Hereford (North)... Century (West) over Kent Island (East)
Glenelg over Century
Glenelg goes on a revenge tour, beating Marriotts Ridge and Century, en route to the 2A title

1A: Patty Mill (East) over Smithsburg (West)... Sparrows Point (North) over Mcdonough (South)
Patty Mill over Sparrows Point
Patty Mill repeats. I don't really know anything about 1A outside of PM winning it last year.

My 2 cents
4A Severna Park once again.
3A Westminster another solid squad.
2A M-Ridge but faces the toughest climb. Possible games against Glenelg & Hereford.
1A P-Mill no real challenge for them.

Hats off to Howard for their road victory over Urbana last night. I, for one, had penciled Urbana into the championship game at 4A. Broadneck also deserves kudos despite their loss to Severna Park. It's a shame that those two teams are in the same region and only one can advance to the semis.

In 3A, Westminster and Linganore played an epic game with the Owls repeating their performance of 2018 and moving on the next round. If Westminster plays their game, they'll be back in the championship game. Northern and Towson should be great matchup on the other side of that 3A bracket.

MDHSFan mentioned Glenelg going on a revenge tour and I'm starting to believe. I think they will be too much for Hereford. I like Century on the other side of the bracket.

I still think it's Patterson Mill's championship to lose in 1A, but I think it's neat that a school like Sparrows Point can get the snot beat out of them all year by the bigger BaltCo schools and still be in the mix.

The number of games where the winner put up more then 20 goals - 19

Shut outs
21-0
28-0
22-0
20-0
22-0

Excessive?

28-0
22-6
22-4
21-4
24-2
26-1
21-3
22-2
25-6
23-3

Most HCs, at least in the past, found a way to remain under 20. Seems like the "Honor The Game" approach has come and gone...

Agree. Let the JV or bench kids play. 28-0 is really character, or lack there of, check for the winning coach.

I agree completely, but once you put the JV or bench kids in it's not fair to tell them not to score or not to go to the goal. If these scores are the results of the starters on overdrive then I have a big problem, but if the reserves go in the the score continues to climb its another story.

Completely agree that coaches should call off the dogs and get the starters out, but this is also the natural by-product of everyone makes the playoffs. The best we can hope for is that coaches reign it in a little. Many of the teams on the winning side of these blowouts have been bounced themselves at this point.

State Championships are set! The games are at Paint Branch HS this year.
1A Sparrows Point vs Patterson Mill 5/20, 4PM
2A Glenelg vs Century 5/21, 6PM
3A Northern vs Westminster 5/22, 6PM
4A Howard vs Severna Park 5/22, 8PM

Who you got?
I’m gonna stick with my original picks of Patty Mill, Glenelg, Westminster, and Severna Park
