One person’s view of the 2019 Liberty League –

1) RIT – Team to beat as usual. Loses a lot of scoring (5 of top 10), loses FOGO and LSM but seems to be capable of just reloading. Returns top goalie.

2) Ithaca – Returns 4 of 5 top scorers and goalie. Loses FOGO but was under 50% in 2018. Defense should be solid with 2 returning starters.

3) RPI – Loses goalie and FOGO. Returns 3 of top 4 scorers who are seniors. Returns solid D.

4) SLU – Returns goalie and 3 of top 4 scorers. FOGO returns but under 50% in 2018.

5) Union – Only loses five players overall but loses top scorer, returns next 13. Returns solid FOGO (.612). Loses goalie but entire D returns.

6) Clarkson – Returns top FOGO (.669), top 3 scorers and goalie. Defense looks to be experienced.

7) Vassar – Returns basically the entire team. FOGO had #2 win percentage (.637) in 2018 and goalie had #2 save percentage (.540). Could experience result in significant uptick in performance?

8) Skidmore – Loses 5 of top 8 scorers, FOGO and goalie. Looks like they need to reload.

9) Bard – Did they really only have 16 rostered players in 2018?

Above just based upon looking at online stats. I think 3/4/5 are interchangeable. No idea about the impact of freshmen or transfers or any other factors. Feedback welcome.

It took SLU a while to get their offensive rotations figured out. Once they had it down they looked good. They lost two games last year that they should not have and those games kept them out of the tournament. I would look at them as the #2 team this year and they have been giving RIT fits so who knows maybe this could be their year.

I hear good things from up North as well. Fallball has just started and the incoming class looks like they may have a few that could be seeing some meaningful time this spring.

New coach this year at Vassar. But most of the team returns including Lowery who was a beast last year at the faceoff. Not sure how the learning curve will be for the Brewers. If things gel the right way, it's not out of the realm of possibility that they make a push for the LL playoffs.

And Vassar picks up Manhassett's Logan Hyde. i'll be surprised if he doesn't have an immediate impact.

I'm curious to see what Hudson Miller does at Skidmore.

Saw RIT take on Cornell freshman & some sophs. Tigers looked solid in all aspects albeit the Big Red youngsters looked a little unorganized.
Only a scrimmage but I think it was 1 goal win for RIT.

SLU v St John Fisher scrimmage on Saturday. Saints jumped out quick 4-1. Played really fast and pressured SJF all over the field. Saints are deep and were subbing throughout- SJF played starters most of scrimmage as their season opens next week and were looking to work out some things before Wooster. Fisher battled all day and is a team to watch in E8. SJF has a good one in freshman attack Evans- if he can stay healthy he’ll make some noise for the Cards. After 5 periods 18-12 SLU.

Watched some of the first half of the RIT beat down of OWU. Pretty impressive showing by RIT. Seem to be hitting on all cylinders already.

Lycoming is rarely a serious threat, but nice to get that first win under the belt for IC. Interested to see what Geneseo brings to the table this weekend.

This weather is horrible.
Ithaca v Geneseo was closer than I thought it would be.
SLU v Naz was not as close as the score made it appear- Saints were up 14-6 in fourth and rotating all lines.

Hello first post. I see the LL and NESCAC both have 4 teams in the Inside Lacrosse top 20 media poll.
It's very early but great to see. 3/16 RIT at Amherst is going to be interesting.

I see the League as:
**-No NESCAC on regular season schedule

1) RIT
2) St. Lawrence
3) Ithaca **
4) RPI
4) Union
5) Vasser
6) Clarkson**
7) Skidmore **
8) Bard **

SLU is heading to Tampa for three this week- Vassar, Bowdoin, & Western New England. Getting out of Canton in March and playing in 70 degrees will be a welcome sight for this group. Saints defense is coming together nicely as of late.

RIT v St John Fisher today @ 7. Tigers will be out to make a statement after first loss to Amherst.
RPI v Williams- should be a good gauge of how deep LL is.
SLU over Bowdoin 13-5- next up Western New England. Always good to beat a NESCAC team.
Little surprised at the Cortland-Clarkson score. Thought it would be 5-6 goal game.

Clarkson feed is brutal, is it like this for all home games. Engineering/technology school right? Wow.

In defense of Clarkson Streaming- the towers in North Country don't thaw out until May.

Union v Middlebury- would like to see another win v NESCAC
Ithaca v SLU- not sure how this will go- Saints look strong but Bombers always good at home

Ithaca has a great communications school, with an outstanding TVR program. You'd think they could spring for some damn audio on their otherwise-decent livestream.
