College Crosse with a good, at least unlike other outlets they seem to know CAA players, podcast on individual CAA teams, about 3 minutes each.

Of course, the usual, obligatory trashing of University City (on a personal note).

They definitely have some top tier players, players who would be top tier anywhere.
The CAA just needs more.
They lost Pallonetti.

But.
Tierney, Paparo, Goodrich, King, Kitchen, Woodall.

A good day for the CAA.
Towson had that game from the 2nd qtr on.
Hens beat an improving MSM.
UMass with literally a last second goal, beautiful play off a man up, goal with no time left. But they lost the face off and lost on Army’s first overtime possession.
Let’s see about the Dutch, very low scoring game.

Well, 3 & 1 on the day.
Dutch pull it out, 4-3, UMass came close to making it a 4-0 day, good OOC wins over Hopkins, Lehigh.
Versus last year, which was the reverse with several wipe outs.

Nice seeing the CAA take a couple of ranked OOC teams down. Long season off to a good start!!

Not a great day for the CAA, but not horrible either.

Start with the bad.
Fairfield gets sizzled by St. Joe’s.
Drexel, had that game, granted against the team that took it to Duke. But some dumb end of game mistakes, and yes some good goalie play at the end by High Point.
UMass, it was a game the first half against what looks like a good OSU team. But the second half, nothing.

Hens, the expected win over NJIT.
Dutch, the Utes made it a game for much of the game.
And Tigers, a less than inspired win, which you might expect coming off a dismantling of Hopkins.

So no top OOC wins.
Drexel should have, could have, and that would have been a solid OOC win.

Some top performances from this weekend.

Jake Hervada 13-17 face-off
Matt Deluca 17 saves (0.850)
Ryan Tierney (4, 1)
Brian Herber 18-25 face-off
Brody Mclean (5, 1)
Tyler Canto 18 saves (0.720)
Marshal King (2, 4)
Jimmeh Koita 21-32 Face-off
Sean Sconone 20 saves (0.645)

And to amend that earlier assessment of UMass.
That Ohio State goalie saved over 70% facing over 40 UMass shots. The OSU face off man dominated. Isaac Paparo had 3 caused turnovers. Still, I suspect this is not the offensive production the coaches are wanting. No rest for the Minutemen, Harvard, Yale, Albany next.

We have said for years the CAA team's need to help each other win these OOC wins....the confernece average of quality wins has to go up and be more broad and consistent.

Props to the OSU Gk, Minutemen need to shoot it better. Left a few on the doorstep. Really enjoy their more uptempo style.

Delaware vs Monmouth 12:00
Drexel vs Albany 1:00
Georgetown vs Towson 1:00
Harvard vs Massachusetts 1:00
Sacred Heart vs Fairfield 1:00
Villanova vs Hofstra 1:00

No sure thing with any of these games.
Could be an 0-6 weekend if teams aren’t prepared, though I suspect the Hens are safe.

Tigers just took over that game in Q4.
Alex Woodall at over 80% faceoffs and Brendan Sunday with 9 points, 14-8 TU.

Dutch with the nice comeback, look like they had control, comeback by Villanova in Q4, overtime, Tierney with 5 goals, 10-9 Cats.

Hens, 8 to 4 and now 3 & 0, DeLuca again over 70% saves.

Dragons played well, Albany is good despite the Syracuse fold, had a chance to go up two, Albany with the W 13-12, King with a good look to tie, Jimmeh Koita 70% faceoffs, Drexel actually played some D, the local rookie 2nd game Jack Mulcahy with 2&1.

A really, very good day in the CAA.

UMass has played well, with nothing to show, takes over at end, 12-9 W that’s a good OOC win given the overall Ivy strength of schedule. Sconone almost 60% saves, Paparo with nice end to end, Connolly one of the best in the league.

Fairfield, I don’t know that goalie, but some big saves, Stags finally get a break, that’s a good win against a good SHU team, 12-11.

Gabriel Procyk, a Canadian from the — what a surprise for the CAA, Coquitlam Adanacs.
Was a commit to Stony Brook in line to do a post grad year at Trinity Pawling, but instead matriculated to UMass this year.
In the running early for top CAA freshman.

This week.

Yale, St. Joe’s, Villanova, Loyola, Stony Brook, Georgetown, Rutgers, Jacksonville.

A couple CAA teams have an opportunity to add to their at large resume, though realistically, its only one team. Hofstra had a real opportunity with this past weekend’s game as Villanova is #3 RPI as of now, course its early.

I’m seeing 3 games as must win, and hopefully one upset among Yale, Villanova, Loyola, Georgetown, Rutgers — for a 4 & 4 week.

If you haven’t seen.
The old Laxpower stats have been re-worked (same guy)
on the LaxBytes site. New this year.

http://laxbytes.com/2019/binmenstats/rating01.php

Its the old power rating system.
Early. But as of now, Towson #3, Delaware #14, Hofstra #28, Drexel #37, UMass #39, Fairfield #62.
