And Navy has the head-to-head.

Brutal selection, just shows how much the criteria are stacked toward the power conferences.
Navy had strength of schedule at 45 compared to Duke at 12 though plus the win over UVA which I think tipped it.
Navy BEAT Duke, better record, better RPI. SOS trumps all of that?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot…they BEAT Duke! 🤷‍♂️
If two teams are on the bubble H2H should matter

Hmm. In the history of the NCAA tournament. Duke this year at 31 RPI and PSU last year at 32 are the lowest to ever make the tournament. I’ve been saying for a month. Don’t discredit that factor. The Ole Girl network saved Missy last year and tried to save Kimel this year. It was written.

As I have written, I disagree and thought Duke should have been included. Attributing “save missy” or “save Kirsten” to the motivation of the committee seems a bit petulant to me…

Sorry. That came off badly. Should have said sour grapes.
I get why people thibk navy deserved it based on h2h. But I prefer best win and sos. So preferred duke.

Not sure kimel or Doherty were big factors…

I'm not happy to be right here. But come on. Duke has no right to be in the tournament this year. Clemson beat them 20-11 I think. Navy and Colorado had better resumes. If Duke doesn't beat UVA they aren't even in the discussion. They got blown out by most top 30 teams they played.

Just as PSU shouldn't have made it last year, Duke shouldn't have this year. My guess it is came down to CU and Duke. CU has to fly wherever they play. Duke can bus. NCAA loves to save money. Add in saving Kimel's job and here we are.

Whether you agree with the bracket or not, there are a some compelling first round games.

1. Denver vs Stanford could be close. I like Denver to win, but Stanford isn’t an easy first round opponent. Denver won 10-6 earlier this season.

2. Loyola vs Duke. I see Loyola winning comfortably, but this matchup intrigues me.

3. Florida vs UNC. Florida is much improved since their loss to UNC and I feel UNC has declined since that game.

4. Penn State vs JMU. Penn State has ended the season well but JMU is a tough out.

Love the UVA & Maryland pods.

Any of those teams (except RMU & LIU) could make the quarterfinals. I’ll say UF & Penn State for now.

Duke getting in is a farce. They looked like a talented JV team last time out against BC. They need to get Loyola to OT in order to save face at all. If they get running clocked, the committee has explaining to do.

This comes down to the committee bringing in personal relationships from outside. It’s the only thing that makes any sense. Not sure if that’s part of the selection criteria?

Navy should have been in. The committee uses RPI in some cases (Fairfield getting in with the 50+ ranked strength of schedule) and ignores it other cases (Duke getting in with a top 10 ranked SOS and one good win). 6 ACC teams get in.

There needs to be a better way to do this. If I’m navy, I’m dropping Duke next year and trying to get as many top 20 ranked RPI teams as possible in order to get the golden win. Forget your record, you will be .500 with the Patriot League cupcakes. Add NW, Cuse, Maryland, Virginia, etc.

Awful day for Cuse to be playing. Graduation day, begins at 0930 hrs, ends at about 1230 hrs, game time at 1400 hrs, lot of seniors on this team. Could you have a bigger distraction?

I believe most spring sport athletes aren’t participating in the regular graduation if they are in the post-season.

They probably won’t walk with their class. I have heard players miss that previously at other schools for the same reason which I always think is such a shame but inevitable at this time of year with the post season.

Either way, agree it is still a distraction as I’m sure they have friends that will be involved and campus will be very busy.

Remember two years ago when Cuse couldn’t host because they had graduation that weekend (I think it was when they were having facility upgrades at the same time too) and they had to play as the “home team” at Princeton.

I thought in past Cuse couldn’t host due to graduation in dome? How are they doing that this year ?

Last year they played the games outside at the soccer stadium
