Very interesting results in some of Saturday's Landmark results.

Elizabethtown (7-5) (5-0) raced out to a 5-0 first quarter lead and played solid defense all afternoon to take a 14-5 win over Scranton (7-7) (5-1). Gavin Gismondi led the Blue Jays offense with 5 goals and an assist. Reese Levinson and Alex Kilgour added 2 goals each. TJ Chapman was dominant at faceoff, winning 18 of 20 with 9 ground balls. The defense, anchored by Connor Stewart, Lucas Kohler and Ben Clark kept the Royals offense off balance and uncomfortable, limiting Scranton to just 5 goals, well under their season average of 12.5.
One bright spot for Scranton was the play of Zach Palinkas on defense, with 4 caused turnovers and 6 ground balls. Declan Allen had 16 saves in goal.

It was a very happy senior day at Moravian (8-6) (4-2) as the Greyhounds won an exciting overtime game against visiting Catholic (7-7) (3-3) 11-10. Aaron Judge had 4 goals and Steven Salica had 3, including the game-winner just 40 seconds into the OT. Moravian's Gannon Mesko won the faceoff at the beginning of overtime, Moravian called a timeout and Nick Coffaro found Salica in the middle of the field and he scored the winning goal. Coffaro had 3 assists on the day. Moravian held the lead from early in the third quarter until Catholic came back to tie it on a goal by freshman Erik Aulbach with just over a minute to play. Moravian's defense, led by Mike Sickler, Jason Levy and short-sticks Kyle Weiss and Aden Moskovitz played tough and stymied the Cardinals shooters. Liam Kelly had 10 saves in goal.
Catholic was led on offense by Victor Rosado, who spearheaded Catholic's comeback and finished with 4 goals and 2 assists. Mike Mulligan added 2 goals. Defenseman Mason Russo caused 2 turnovers and grabbed 6 ground balls. Tyler Merchant had 13 saves for the Cardinals.

Also at Moravian, senior Trevor Dzama assisted on a man-up goal in the third quarter. It was his 32nd assist of the year and he now has 120 career assists to become the all-time Landmark Conference assist leader, breaking the record formerly held by Goucher's Kyle Boncaro who set it in 2009-2012.

Drew (7-7) (2-4) went on the road and defeated Lycoming (3-7) (1-5) by a score of 12-6. Charlie Collins and Brett Spafford each netted hat tricks, with Collins chipping in 2 assists. Kellum Foster-Palmer had a goal and 3 assists and Tommy Larmore had 2 goals and an assist for the Rangers, At faceoff, GJ Nazziola was dominant, winning 17 of 21 with 15 ground balls. Freshman Joe Barnish go the win in goal with 7 saves.
Joey Hoover had 3 goals and Rory Hines had 2 for Lycoming. Jakob Switzer was solid on defense, causing 6 turnovers and scooping up 5 ground balls. Goalie Ben Marino had 18 saves and remains in the top 5 nationally in saves per game.

Susquehanna (11-2) (6-0) remained undefeated in conference play with a 22-6 win over Wilkes (4-9 (1-5). Jack Gaillard and Brennan Lorrence had 5 goals apiece and Gaillard added 3 assists. Nick Remund found the goal 4 times. Garrett Laub was outstanding at faceoff, taking 18 of 25 with 10 ground balls.
Dillon Kadis had 2 goals for Wilkes.

Goucher (8-6) (2-4) had an easy time with Juniata (2-10) (0-5) taking a 17-2 win at home. Tyler May led the Gophers offense with 5 goals. Jacob Morgan had 4 goals and 3 assists and Holden Vance had 3 goals and 2 assists. Defenseman Sean Nolan caused 2 turnovers and had 2 ground balls. Goalie Jack Smith played three quarters and had 6 saves.

In two weeks, we will know the playoff seedings for the tournament. Let's take a look at the key games that remain.

1. Susquehanna (6-0) faces the toughest schedule in their last three games and they could be anywhere from #1 to #4. They need to face Scranton on the road and then host Elizabethtown on the last day of the regular season.

2. Elizabethtown (5-0) will be at Catholic on Wednesday and then at Susquehanna on the last day of the season.

3. Scranton (5-1) will host Susquehanna on April 20 and then Moravian on April 27.

4. Moravian (4-2) will be at Scranton on the last day of the regular season.

5. Catholic (3-3) will host Elizabethtown on Wednesday.

6-7. Drew (2-4) and Goucher (2-4) meet on April 20 and the winner of that game will most likely get the #6 seed.

Junior Brennan Lorrence of Susquehanna has 144 goals currently (5th all time for the Landmark) and that record should be within reach for him next season. Lorrence is also sitting in 3rd place in goals per game average at 2.89, behind Pat Coll (USMMA '16) and Craig Wilkie (Drew '22) tied at 3.00 goals per game.

Also in the goals category, Connor James of Moravian has 145, which ranks him 4th all time.

Athletes of the Week - April 15
Men's Lacrosse Offensive: Gavin Gismondi (Elizabethtown College)

Elizabethtown senior Gavin Gismondi posted a pair of six-point games for the Blue Jays in a 2-0 week in the Landmark to keep Etown unbeaten in the conference. Gismondi had a hat trick of goals and assists on Wednesday in a 17-7 win over Moravian. The league's shot leader made them count on Saturday with a game and season-high five goals as the Jays routed Scranton 14-5.

Men's Lacrosse Defensive: Brayden Franey (Elizabethtown College) (His second weekly honor of the year)

Elizabethtown senior goalie Brayden Franey came up big when his team needed him to this past week as he helped lead the Blue Jays to two conference wins at home to keep the team unbeaten in Landmark play. Franey started with 15 saves on Wednesday against Moravian before making another 17 saves on Saturday against Scranton with a .810 save percentage. Franey was seemingly impenetrable against the Royals as he only allowed four goals on the day, the fourth straight game allowing eight or fewer goals for Elizabethtown. He recorded his 500th career save against the Greyhounds, only the second goalie all-time to reach the mark and seventh in Landmark history to hit the milestone number.

Brennan Lorence (AKA “Thor”) gets a LOT of well-deserved attention for Susquehanna because he is a big, fast, pure goal scorer. However, Gaillard should get a lot of praise as well. He gets tough ground balls, rides well, is a quarterback behind the cage, and can do a little bit of everything (as evidenced by his stat lines). Unfortunate that Ciccarello got hurt early in the year, or that attack line would’ve been unbelievable (although Aitken has filled in nicely). Shoutout to NevadaJoe for digging deep in the numbers for us all!

Elizabethtown (8-5) (6-0) and Catholic (7-8) (3-4) were tied at seven late in the third quarter before the Blue Jays went on a six-goal streak into the fourth quarter to take a 14-9 win over the Cardinals. Riley Langen, with 4 goals and 3 assists led the offense for Elizabethtown. Gavin Gismondi had 3 goals and Alex Kilgour and Ryan Flanegan chipped in 2 goals each. The Blue Jays defense was solid, especially in the fourth quarter and was anchored by short stick Connor Stewart, with 2 caused turnovers and 6 ground balls, and Ben Clark, who caused 2 turnovers and scooped up 3 ground balls. Brayden Franey had 15 saves. TJ Chapman battled at faceoff, winning 13 of 27 with 9 ground balls.
Victor Rosado had 2 goals for Catholic. Ryan Macksoud also battled at faceoff, winning 14 of 27 with 7 ground balls. Goalie Tyler Merchant stopped 17 shots for Catholic.

Drew (8-7) (3-4) came scored early at Moravian (8-7) (4-3) and hung on for a 10-9 win. Moravian made a late run and a final shot to tie at the buzzer was saved by Joe Barnish. Brett Spafford paced Drew's offense, scoring 4 goals. Charlie Collins and Tommy Larmore had 2 goals each, with Larmore adding an assist. Barnish had 14 saves, including 7 in the fourth quarter. Jordan Wilson caused 2 turnovers and picked up 2 ground balls.
The Greyhounds were led by Ryan Kokoska and Dan Kelly with 3 goals apiece. Trevor Dzama had a goal and 5 assists and now is the all-time Moravian career leader in assists with 125, breaking the record held by Clint Quedenfeld in 2005.

Susquehanna (13-2) (7-0) remained undefeated in the Landmark and set an all-time record for team wins in a season with an easy 14-4 victory over Goucher (8-7) (2-5). Brennan Lorrence had 3 goals and 2 assists and is now the all-time career points leader in River Hawks history with 187 points. The previous record was held by Austin Lein, who graduated in 2014 with 182 points. Connor Aitken pumped in 4 goals, Steve Musser had 3 goals and Jack Gaillard added a goal and 3 assists. Jared Tavernite dominated at faceoff, winning 11 of 15 with 7 ground balls. Sean Yamada caused 2 turnovers and grabbed 4 ground balls on defense.
Jacob Morgan and Holden Vance had a goal and 2 assists each for the Gophers. Defenseman Sean Nolan caused 2 turnovers and had 3 ground balls.

Lycoming (4-7) (2-5) outscored Juniata (2-12) (0-6) 6-1 in the first quarter and rolled on to a 17-5 win. Sean Farrell led the Warriors with 3 goals and 3 assists. Patrick Dwyer and Joey Hoover each had a hat trick and Rory Hines chipped in with 2 goals and 2 assists, On defense, Ryan Farrell caused 4 turnovers and had 9 ground balls. Ben Franco took the win in gaol with 12 saves.
Reuben Stoll had 2 goals for Juniata.

Scranton (8-7) (6-1) had an easy time on the road taking a 22-6 win over Wilkes (4-10) (1-6). Myles McCutcheon and Kyle Holmes had 4 goals each and Seamus O'Callaghan scored 3 goals along with an assist. Ronan Miller was a perfect 9 for 9 with 7 ground balls at faceoff for th Royals.
Foe Wilkes, Colby Opromolla had 2 goals and an assist.

I think this is the year for Etown. Only big loss from last years team is their FOGO. They return so many studs on offense.

Some important games on Saturday which will begin to determine the seedings for the tournament. This year, six teams make the playoffs. The top two seeds have a bye. #3 plays #6 and #4 plays #5. The winners of those games will go on to play #1 and #2. the higher seed winner playing #2 and the lower seed winner playing #1.

Susquehanna (7-0) will be at Scranton (6-1) at 4:00. It appears that Susquehanna will control its own destiny and will need to win this game and next Saturday's game against Elizabethtown to earn the #1 seed. The possibility exists that three teams could finish at 8-1 and then the tiebreaker system would determine the seedings. We can wait until the results from Saturday to go into that scenario.

If Goucher (2-5) is to make the playoffs as the #6 seed, they will have to beat Drew (3-4) on the road at 1:00. If Drew wins, they will be in an excellent position to make the playoffs.

Moravian (4-3) is at Lycoming (2-5) at 1:00.

Catholic (3-4) is at Juniata (0-6) at 2:00. It looks like the Cardinals will finish at 5-4 and will be looking at the #4 or #5 seed depending on the other games.

Wilkes (1-6) is at Elizabethtown (6-0) at 1:00.

In a match up of two potential champions, Scranton (9-7) (7-1) took an 8-4 lead into halftime only to have to withstand a furious second half comeback by Susquehanna (13-3) (7-1) before the Royals got a late goal for Joe Boyle on a feed from Alex Eglitis to win by a score of 19-9. Eglitis led the offense with 3 goals and that assist while Myles McCutcheon had 2 goals and Matthew McAree had 3 assists. Scranton's defense was very solid. Colin Pierce caused 4 turnovers and had 3 ground balls and his linemate Zach Palinkas caused 2 turnovers and grabbed 3 ground balls. LSM Andrew Lord was disruptive all over the field and finished with 6 ground balls. Declan Allen took the win in goal with 9 saves.
Brennan Lorrence led the River Hawks offense with 3 goals. Jack Gaillard had a goal and an assist. Nick Remund scored the goal to tie the game at 9 with just under 3 minutes left in the game before Scranton got the game winner, Jozef Korpics was outstanding in goal with 14 saves, many of them close inside. He also scored a goal on a run down the field in the second quarter.
It was great watching the game within the game as two potential All-Americans went head-to head. Colin Pierce limited Brennan Lorrence to just one shot in the first half and then Lorrence led the Susquehanna comeback attempt with 3 goals in the second half.

Drew (9-7) (4-4) almost certainly clinched a playoff spot with a 15-12 victory at home over Goucher (8-8) (2-6). The game was tied 5-5 at halftime before Drew scored 7 unanswered goals in the third quarter to take a 12-5 lead. Goucher made a comeback attempt with 7 goals in the fourth quarter but the Rangers scored 3 of their own to take the win. Brett Spafford, Kellum Foster-Palmer and Tommy Larmore had 3 goals each with Larmore adding an assist. GJ Nazziola dominated at faceoff winning 22 of 30 with 18 ground balls. Jordan Wilson caused 2 turnovers and had 2 ground balls. Joe Barnish took the win in goal with 8 saves.
Goucher was led on offense by Jacob Morgan, Jack McDermott and Tyler May with 3 goals each. Morgan also had 5 assists. Jack Smith had 14 saves.

In another game that was tied at halftime, Moravian (9-7) (5-3) outscored Lycoming (4-8) )2-6) 7-1 in the second half to take the win on the road by a score of 11-6. Aaron Judge led the Greyhound offense with 4 goals. Trevor Szama had 2 goals and 2 assists and Ryan Kokoszka added 2 goals and an assist. Short stick Aden Moskovitz caused 3 turnovers with 3 ground balls. Gannon Mesko was dominant at faceoff, winning 18 of 20 and scooping up 10 ground balls. Liam Kelly stood tall in goal for Moravian with 13 saves.
Patrick Dwyer had 2 goals for Lycoming with Sean Farrell chipping in with 3 assists. On defense, Jakob Switzer caused 4 turnovers and had 5 ground balls. Ben Franco was very busy in goal with 23 saves.

Catholic (8-8) (4-4) overwhelmed Juniata (2-13) (0-7) 25-4. VIctor Rosado scored 4 goals and had an assist and Liam Hill, Steven Dezelic and John Hadden had 3 goals apiece with Hill adding an assist. Tyler Merchant had 6 saves to take the win in goal.
For Juniata, defenseman Nolan Verespy caused 2 turnovers and had 4 ground balls.

Elizabethtown (9-5) (7-0) had an easy time with Wilkes (4-11) (1-7) in a 30-5 win. The Blue Jays offense was led by Colin Kondracki, with 5 goals and 3 assists, Gavin Gismondi, with 4 goals and 4 assists, Finn Kristan, with 4 goals, and Tristan Coleman with 2 goals and 3 assists. TJ Chapman dominated at faceoff, winning 19 of 21 with 11 ground balls. Brayden Franey had 6 saves,
For Wilkes, Colby Opromolla and Austin Sosnovik had a goal and an assist each

Here's the playoff picture as we head into the last week of the season.

1. Elizabethtown (7-0) - The Blue Jays will face Susquehanna on the road on Saturday and that game will determine the top three seeds. If Elizabethtown wins, they will be the #1 seed.

2. Scranton (7-1) - The Royals will need to beat Moravian to remain in the determination for the top three seeds. They hold the tiebreaker over Susquehanna and, if there is a three-way tie (all with 8-1 records), Scranton gets the #2 seed and Susquehanna gets the #3 seed.

3. Susquehanna (7-1) - If the River Hawks defeat Elizabethtown on Saturday, we could had a three-way tie with three teams at 8-1.

4. Moravian (5-3) - If the Greyhounds beat Scranton, they will be the #4 seed. If they lose, they fall to 5-4 and a potential three-way tie with Catholic and Drew. The tie-breaker would then come into play and an early look sees Catholic as the #4 seed, with Moravian #5 and Drew at #6.

5. Catholic (4-4) - The Cardinals could be either #4 or #5.

6. Drew (4-4) - The Rangers look to be in the playoffs as the #6 seed.

Goucher (2-6), Lycoming (2-6), Wilkes (1-7) and Juniata (0-7) have been eliminated from the playoffs.
