After a week of a bit of panic on here the Hounds calm everyone's nerves with a solid performance and big win. Patriot League should be going through Ridley in 2 weeks.

At halftime I was trying to decide how angry-drunk I’d get tonight. Now, I’m trying to decide how happy-drunk I’m going to get tonight.

Wow. I followed on Twitter and didn’t watch. This was such a HUGE victory it can’t be overstated. Hats off to the coaches and kids. The tournament should be at the RAC now, which everyone wanted including other teams. It’s the best venue and the crowds will be huge.

Somewhat surprised Bucknell beat Lehigh but I’m guessing those injuries on defense simply caught up to Lehigh.

First post here in this thread. Played football at the "other service" Academy that does not get much lax love but the boys in Blue after all the turmoil are doing pretty well this year. Anyway, credit to your team to stand behind the Army players during the alma mater. Class all the way! Good luck with the rest of your season.

Loyola, you look like a team that can beat Yale, Penn State, and separately all of the teams in your conference.

I saw you play in person against Army, and you dominated with your patience, athleticism and skill. You also probably had the largest lacrosse crowd of the weekend, even with rain.

I went to the game thinking your team tends to make bad decisions, but after watching one game I think your ability to slowdown the game can help you beat a lot of future opponents.

Peter What did i Tell ya, that the team would bounce back with a good win! I knew that they would come back with a resilient win. Finally there's life, energy, and RESILIENCE when down a few goals playing a tough team.

Some things i saw

Good:
Doesn't seem that spencer is as injured as before. His individual goals really gave the team some juice to step up and make plays. Nice 7 point day
Olmstead is really coming into his own. His dodge behind x to the left and then explode releasing a shot in the upper 90 was beautiful to see.
Lindley's two goals were key on the doorstep and then middle of the field to get some cushion.
Bailey had a GREAT day at the X. I think he won 70ish percent
McNulty and Wyers were big in GB play and CT. Wyers takeaway was nice
Stover HUGE in goal, but he's still bailing the defense out with the amount of saves hes making.
Great game by Swindell as a two way middie, and even PJ Brown for his two goals and nice development from the senior.

Bad:
Oh Lord the 1st quarter was bad. WAAY too many unforced turnovers. Couldnt make a pass. Shooting blanks. We passed the ball to the other team a lot too.

Overall:
Good win against a good army team. Way to play. Keep this energy up. For this team to make a run, they can't having slow starts like today

I'm still deliriously happy that Loyola won this game, but I was not feeling it staring at Twitter after the first quarter Saturday. Winning on Saturday makes all the difference in the world so far as (possibly) hosting the PL tournament and what that means for our chances at an NCAA berth. I still say that the PL only gets one team in the NCAA's, which is unfortunate for someone, because BU, Army, and Loyola are all deserving of a bid. Army would have done themselves a huge NCAA favor taking care of business against Syracuse earlier in the season when Cuse was there for the taking.

But wow did the Hounds just not catch any break in Q1 versus Army. What makes me think Spencer has that extra gear for a post season run is how he took it upon himself in Q2 to get the goals the team needed and he really helped elevate the team. I wish he was always that assertive; I assure you he will need to be in any NCAA tourney games.

Savio has steadily gotten better at FOGO...what an evolution for that kid. Next year he will be incredible. Plus he has a few helpers coming in on the recruiting class which he will need because you can't take 100% of every FO and not burn out eventually. (btw, I think the Hounds' incoming Class for the Fall might be the best incoming class no one is discussing in all of D1...I could go through each one, but if you only had Poitras coming in, you'd have a great class; the kid is money...he and Lindley and Olmstead will be insane)

On to Lafayette. A quasi dreadful town/team/game to end the season. Hopefully the weather will be nice and the guys can sprint out to a massive halftime lead to give others a run in the second half.

Well it issss Monday, and the game is Friday so woul you mind Peter on shedding some light on the next incoming class? I haven’t heard much about them as IL and recruiting rundown don’t tout the guys that much. Even the 4 stars like pacheco, James, kamish, IL seems to not give them much hype. Would they really be an impact class, because I’ve heard buzz around the 2020 class

Can only tell you the ones I know of:

Poitras. Starts on Hill. Attack. Just a sublime player; honestly my favorite in HS today. Should start right away, is my guess. Poitras, Olmstead, and Lindley will be deadly...I mean, this is heresey of course, it will be a far different look than this year without the GOAT, but you will have a hard time finding a better threesome at starting attack next year in all of division 1. With Lindley and Olmstead having another year under their belt, with another kid who moves constantly and is really smart just like Lindley and Olmstead, good luck to other teams shutting those guys down. Pair that up with Scanlan's dodging from up top and his tirelessness, whoa.

Of course, unless you get the ball, having a stellar attack is useless. So that's why I'm so excited about Bailey as a junior, with a few incoming backers to spell him. One is Pacheco who does do FO, as well as Calvert Hall's Cottone. That's a great FOGO squad! With McNulty back too for a year coming in on the wing.

I'm very hopeful that Vandenheuvel out of Glenelg is the kind of kid that gets overlooked by the bigs and flourishes at a place like Loyola, LSM. he is big and fast and has great stickwork. On the FO squad maybe with McNulty? Watch for him.

Biggest hole is goalie. Stover sets so much of this team. I think Shafer starts. Kid coming in from New York Colton Teitelbaum seems VERY legit, but to be a great D1 goalie, you almost never see that in a frosh. Burkinshaw?

Defense isn't really a worry even though we lose a few...Railey and Johnson will be stellar. Hughes might start; Leblanc? I don't see any incoming impact freshmen on Defense but we have a good returning nucleus.

On to Lafayette!

Thanks for the insight! Looking at who is leaving and who is coming in, i think its safe to say that in terms of teams strength in order would go from 1. Defense. 2. Offense 3. Specialist 4. Midfield with 1 being the best and 4 being last. Reason being for me is that Railey, Johnson come back. We only lose Volante while Wyers still starts next year. McNulty got a redshirt year so he has two more seasons to play.

Offense- Obviously the loss of Spencer will hurt but if Poitras will be an impact player like you say he is coming from the vaunted hill academy, then the line of Poitras, Olmstead, and Lindley will be nice to see. I've heard very positive things about Kamish and Pacheco to contribute too. Don't sleep on Liam Bateman and Ross Pridemore where the latter was the former #1 Recruit in the 2018 class. Bateman i believe was a top attackman/midfielder in the MIAA.

Specialist- Bailey returns and will be better (i hope). Addition of Pacheco who looks like a do it all midfielder for FO and SSDM and can clear/Shoot. Cotton can make a dangerous FO trio if he meets expectations. Throw in Colin McCarthy who took 2 face-offs but eh its still game experience. LSM McNulty/Johnson return as i stated before plus your new guy Peter. ALSO Matt Hughes will get an extra year with us so 3 years total. I'll add Goalies in the specialist corps but the team will have 3 goalies next year. Dont know much about the others but Shafer has been compared to Jack Runkel. Big, explosive towards the ball lefty goalie. Finally the rope unit- Benus and Higgins come back as the top two SSDMS as Juniors and Seniors. Boland is back, Razanka has a full year under his belt, so does Scott Middleton with his time on the field too.

Midfield- Lose Duffy. McGovern, Brown to graduation. Essentially 2/3 of the first line. but who can reload? Obviously Scanlan, but it looks to be Cox, Deveraux, and Wigley (he's really surprised me with how shifty he is and has a quick shot). Swindell is a big kid who clears well and is a great piece to use in quick strike transition. Maybe shift Bateman to 2nd line. Evan James is a guy coming in who i believe can contribute from day 1.

Sleepers: i'm just really excited for Corey Millhouse and Cam James. Latter came from Naps and apparently the coaching staff really likes his play but hes down in the depth chart for this year. Millhouse is an absolute speed demon, who has burners for legs and can run effortlessly when clearing the ball. I swear once toomey and the staff develop his stick skills and tweak his IQ, this guy will be VERY VERY dangerous on the wings and in clears.

Finally, i just looked at the roster and a ton of the guys on the bench this year are majority over 6 ft tall. Talk about big, imposing dudes

Almost forgot, there's thoughts of a top goalie coming out of an ACC school who could very well be looking to transfer at Loyola....

last thing i swear, but we literally got another solid midfielder recruit about 3 weeks ago. Look up Najee Taylor. This kid was projected as a top midfield recruit for Notre Dame. He just decommitted and came to us... have no idea how went NLI days are usually in november but i guess he never signed officially until now

Well that's Burkinshaw, whom I listed, but we have no idea if he will or won't. He'll be courted by every program and wherever he ends up likely there will be some hurt feelings by existing starters or backups waiting to see time. If I were he, I'd look hard at Loyola for all the reasons we know but this is huge: Stover's absence next year is our biggest hole and there is no definitive #1 replacement (+ this team will contend for as far as the eye can see; Toomey is doing a masterful job at recruiting the right kids). Burkinshaw is money. He made an honest mistake enrolling at UVA, where Rode was already starting, but Rode is a great goalie who rises in the biggest moments it seems...one of the two was bound to be disappointed. In this case it appears as if Burkinshaw is the one who got disgruntled.

I like our chances for the next few years. Plus, best lax stadium in the country!

Okay, got to focus on Lafayette...I really want Spencer to rack 'em up this weekend. He has got to do what he did in Q2 against Army and take over.

The defense is in way worse shape than anyone would have thought if they are relying on Stover this weekend. Lafayette just isn't there yet but hopefully their new coach can at least get them competitive because no one benefits from having a perennial conference whipping boy.

On Burkinshaw it is strange how they handled him especially considering Rode is good but not great. I would like to see him at Loyola but he will be the biggest name in the transfer portal most likely. I think Loyola has a Top 100 recruit coming in next year in cage so maybe they won't contact Burkinshaw because of that but to me that would be a bad decision.

I think for Burkinshaw, Loyola would be a great decision; at Loyola, the spotlight is not as intense; you can just play lax. This kid will be microscoped like Ierlan for the transfer, and what Loyola will offer a kid like Burkinshaw is a team somewhat out of the spotlight and one that will absolutely compete for the 'ship next year and the years after. It takes a little pressure off knowing the talent you have on the squad you are joining. I truly believe Bailey Savio will be an elite FOGO next year.

It's not a good decision if you are a goalie coming in as a recruit obviously, or sitting today waiting for your shot. Wherever Burkinshaw lands, he will start. I see only one other team that is a good decision for Burkinshaw and that's Duke. But Duke has two Freshmen sitting on the bench today who were legit AA's in HS and I know are itching to play. If Burkinshaw shows up in Durham, those two will blow out.

At times they have relied on Stover to bail them out. Georgetown and Boston U got any shot they wanted. They have good games too. Navy couldn't get a good look all game and same with Lehigh and Colgate. Basically I think they're inconsistent but if they can't shut down Lafayette it starts to look less like inconsistent and more like not very good.

if and when burkinshaw does transfer, he'll have plenty of coaches who will take his call. and also plenty where he could be a good fit, this before any of us would know exactly what he's looking for. which i'm guessing no one here does.

as a fan, i was expecting he'd get a longer leash after his initial game, but for whatever reason, that didn't happen. i will say --- if internet board chatter is to be believed -- he may be lacrosse's answer to scott mitchell, and parlayed that appearance into a starting job, full scholarship, and maybe a seat on his next school's board of directors.
