Playing bottom tier teams and winning by 20 drops RPI.

Pretty sure it does, a CAA coach told me beating Hampton last year by 17 dropped their RPI. Beating Wagner will drop their RPI.

UNC is #21 in RPI right now. According to Lax Ref's tool, beating Wagner drops them to #29. Of course, that does not factor in any other results. But in a vacuum, that game by itself would drop the Heels 8 spots right now.

yeah. wagner may bagel. you said teams. it's not at all clear how the rest of their mid-major comp will do.

and you can have a #60 rpi team, that gets really killed on their opponents' opponents record, and that calculation drops off for the team playing them. plus it matters how much your own winning % is boosted. i.e. going from 12 - 0 to 15 - 0 does nothing to boost your own win %. but going from 7 - 5 to 10 - 5 does. and the goal margin doesn't matter.

As much as it pains me, I agree with Quint. This schedule makes absolutely no sense. There are probably 10 top 25 that would love the chance to bus down to Chapel Hill to play the Heels. Not sure Breschi was looking that hard to be honest.

Duffy, Petro and Wambach are really off to good starts, and I think Duffy and Petro will get even better as the season goes on, but hard for Wambach to improve:

Wambach is going to be a problem his entire career and I am so excited. Duffy has had some finishing woes but I still do not think there is a better freshman in the country. Always facing the #1 pole compared to McMillon who is most likely facing the #3. This year is going to be a struggle with a lot of growing pains but you have to be excited with the potential our attack has moving forward. Plus if you take a look at the midfield recruiting we have some serious talent on the way.

Insane game from Duffy today. Yes not the best competition but there is no denying the kid has the it factor. Haven't seen that from a UNC freshman since Billy Bitter and he's already better than Billy was at this stage. UNC just has to keep beating who they're supposed to and they're gonna have at least 1-2 big ACC wins

Agreed^

Rather play UNC early than later in the year. They need to win these games and then who knows in ACC play. They’re not a juggernaut but they’re not to be slept on if this O progresses.

Really wish there were highlights somewhere. Offense is improving every game which is all you can ask for. Very happy Owen Duffy is on my team!

The problem is the same coach is there so will be interesting to see how they do in conference. The 25 midfield verbal commits are impressive, but just that, until signed. If UNC does well, great, but everyone is/will be out to flip them, whether Breschi struggles or not.

They also have 2 five star middies coming in next year (already signed). #11 Mason Szewczyk and #17 Caden Harshbarger. Also 4star and #37 Luke Macaluso plays A/M. All 3 can instantly help next year. Only graduating 2 offensive guys this year... Tillman and McGovern.

If Breschi can figure it out this season, he has a lot to look forward to next year. And, definitely in the 2025 class. If it doesn't go well... I could see Petro going from AC to Interim to HC.

The upcoming gauntlet of Wagner, Stony Brook, and High Point will show a lot.

Please stop with the disrespectful rhetoric towards the 100's of families involved with these programs.

RPI talk  .....just WIN

or.....perhaps, since well over 50% of Tar Heels roster is within a 2 hour drive of these games.....the Nicky Galasso effect. Pretty sure THOSE families appreaciate seeing their son play close to home.

and besides.....the ACC is a bunch of indies anyway.......grow the PHup uck Atlantic Coast Conference and grow yourselves another men's team.

We would have Boston College in the n$aa FF by year 3............local league ISL sucks.....just ask in$wag lacro$$e, who's "scout" discovered it a few years ago   ....so no local talent. 8-)
ILM...Independent Lives Matter
Pronouns: "we" and "suck"

A big if..............Getting top tier talent has never been an issue at a great school like UNC. Nevertheless, in 16 years as head coach, Breschi has only 1 title and a whole lot of years without even making the tourney with loaded teams. Maybe, he finally turns it around, but his tenure has been one of mostly underperformance to the talent level.

Matt Wrede had his first career goal against Penn. Got his first career start alongside Duffy and McGovern vs Hofstra. Notched 2&1. Good for him, he only played 2 games last year.

Matan and Petro both ran from the midfield. Matan is proving himself in the line-up; 2 and 2 vs Penn and 3 G's vs Hofstra. He seems to be transitioning from attack to middie faster and more effectively than Egan is, so far. I still have high hopes for both.

According to box score, UNC's 1st Line was- Tillman, Egan, and R. Levy. Levy led the trio and also scored 2&1. Tillman had 1 assist. First Line had 4 points.

Sounds like they're mixing and matching, trying to see what fits wear.

Nobody cares about the fact that Syracuse has played 7 straight home games and then 2 neutral sight games..and then back home vs Duke. Their first road game is 3/23 at Hobart ahah. UNC schedule is fine imo
