Manhasset beat Roslyn 10-7? Closer than I’d have expected.

GC impressive start

Manhasset was up 10-5 going into the 4th and pulled some starters to get others playing time.

Manhasset 7 CSH 6 Final.

CSH scored with 3 seconds left to get within 1.

Manhasset has a very strong physical defense and good goalie play. Giacobbe is very capable at X. Offense has potential, still figuring out its identity. Late hit by CSH player on Giacobbe has no place in the game and was disgraceful came after the whistle. Giacobbe looked to be OK.

Thanks for the details….sounds like a few growing pains which is to be expected, but at least they took care of business against CSH who is never an easy out.

Im was outstanding.

Kip Zacharia was an up and coming underclassman. Maybe he was on the field and I missed him or changed his number (10) from last year. Any info?

Joe, I am looking at the IL high school lacrosse schedules, and see that Chaminade does not play Garden City but they do play Manhasset. Are there reasons for this? I'd think Chaminade versus Garden City would be a mandatory annual game?

Chaminade plays Manhasset in the Regs Rock game to honor Jimmy Regan. It certainly could schedule GC but it is also playing a more regional schedule now.

Chaminade and Garden City played every year save one from 1977 to 2004. They have not played since. GC is 22-5 in that span; not surprising since the GC program dates back to the 1930’s whereas the Chaminade program was in its infancy when the series started.

Thanks. I just watched this video to learn more about Jimmy Regan:

I wish that guy was around today...no telling what he'd be doing, but I am certain he'd be successful at it.

It should be, but for some reason hasn't happened in YEARS. Not sure why. And GC plays the most diverse OOC schedule of anyone even more than Manhasset. Can't answer why... Same reason I can't answer why Friars stopped playing Manhasset, every game was a 1 goal game in favor of Friars. Very close. St Anthony's seems to have stopped playing Publics hard stop. part of their evolution into a pseudo prep school....

Kismet,

Game was scheduled for 11AM today and then removed from LaxNumbers, likely cancelled. Unfortunate.

Northport-Port Washington also listed as postponed. Were there weather issues?

GC could easily go undefeated. I’d be surprised if they did not.

That’s odd. There must be a reason. They’re literally in each other’s backyards.

I somehow remember Murf saying a long time ago that it was because of so many GC kids leaving to go to Cham. They played every year for 22 years and haven't played since 2004. GC was 17-5 in those games so something definitely happened
