Goal wiped off and 1 min penalty. Just a reminder to all that refs can and will check any and all sticks on the field, including those lying on the sideline. That penalty may have cost UMass the game. They will be "motivated" next weekend. I know Cuse is tomorrow, but I would like nothing better than to beat UMass. It has been way too long.
Any idea why stick was allowed back in game?

It was a 1 minute penalty. So probably too narrow a throat. Obviously I'm guessing about this . The announcers didn't say. A lot of FOGOs keep a soft ball in their sticks to prevent that.

Complete BS call by the refs taking that goal of at the end of Q1. No explanation of why? Refs are tipping their hand early.

Sounded like the goal had somehow been knocked out or off the ground or off the goal line

It didn't go in, was a mom goal. Bart playing well though, Datellas and Patterson specifically.

Bach running hard; D is rotating really well. Clearing game anything but stellar, though. Let's see if they can keep up the intensity!

THe video replay showed it in. Refs have yet to call a push from behind on Cuse # in mid Q3 in a row.

Would Bart fans have been pretty good had someone told them they'd only be down 3 going into the 4th?

Ya figure these commentators think the little mark over the E in Mule' is an apostrophe?

13-8 against a team of Syracuse‘s caliber is not an embarrassment. The team is starting to come together a bit. On to UMass.

Respectable showing. Should have been a 2-3 goal game if the officials weren’t so much in SU’s favor. Great game by Wilson in the cage. So many self inflicted wounds on offense. Honestly if the Statesmen could complete passes on O in the second half it would have been a game.

Flat out of the halftime break - must not have been a great speech by Coach Ray, but at least they didn’t fall apart like we saw against UM.

A10 play is finally here. Curious to see how this plays out.

I was at the game. Good to know the replay showed that goal was in. More importantly, Syracuse set moving picks all over the place. At least one was egregious and for a goal.
Hobart outplayed and out hustled SU in the first half. SU got a lucky goal on a broken play, and Hobart had one pulled back, otherwise the score at half would have reflected our play even better.
At the start of the second half it wasn't flatness. It was an immature attempt to make big plays rather than stick to basics as in the first half. We stopped playing team lacrosse for a few minutes. SU stepped up its faceoff play and we started giving up the ball. Increased possession by SU taxed our D and we let some dumb goals in. That was their run. They then knocked us out of rhythm, and we had trouble resetting and getting solid shots off. Their goalie played very well, and that didn't help us (though we have to get used to that for UMass).
Our D played very aggressively and it worked until the SU run. But 13 is respectable against this team. The O lost form and struggled to refind it in the second half. The cold seemed to hurt our inside game, and openings were only available for a split second.
Ellis Wilson was great. He wS a great stopper, but also ran clears and distributed very well. He's our goalie.
We could have a good A10 season if we play like 1st half and continue to improve. Another positive today was no injuries ( on our side. One SU player went out. Here's hoping he is okay). There is lots to look forward to.

I would love to have heard Raymond at half time. Everyones knows SU is going to come out the 2nd half on fire. Raymond should praise the teams play but also tell them SU is going to come and be very aggressive, so match it and play hard and tough.

Mixed feelings on this game. Happy with the first half. But some missed coverage that gave Cuse easy goals. It seems that we are down quite a few players looking at who played today. To keep the game as close as we did with not much available depth is to be commended. Wilson and the D kept Spallina relatively in check. Firth did a nice job and Brooks Rhine is developing into a solid starting defenseman. No goals and 3 assists., below his 5.9 pts and 3.5 assists per game average. Shea and Valent held their own against the third ranked face-off team. All in, a good effort with limited players. Clean up some of the Homer Simpson mistakes and the A 10 will be interesting. Keep working Statesmen.

Oh.... and the refs SUCKED!!!!

Did you think Bart got away with some warding off today?
I sure did (not complaining about it). Seems as if refs
have forgotten about that call....see Duke. Pretty hard
for me to imagine that the refs would favor Cuse up at
the Boz.
