Cohen, Goldstein, McMahon and Fee are all guys I could see making a difference their first year. Especially the first 3. With Tommy Rogan returning... Dartmouth returns 12 of their top 12 scorers from the 2023 season. With the addition of those first years too. Good things to come.Laxxal22 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 9:54 amThey put the wrong high school for literally the first player on the roster.Dosadi wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 4:20 pm 2024 Roster is up

Agree with both posts above (St. Sebs for the Goalie, correct?) - I'm also interested to see how Andrew Klis does https://youtu.be/a4_W9XVX6A4 nice size, moves feet well, stays on hands, deals well with picks in space, and very strong at contact points. There are some good defenders that are now Sophs as well - and a 5th year defender that played quite a bit last year.

But I do know the email of the communications liaison for lax.
I'd bet that the player or his family had already gotten to them before my heads up.

The schedule is up: https://dartmouthsports.com/sports/mens ... e/schedule. 13 games vs 12 in '23. A tougher slate of opponents with Bucknell, Lehigh, G'town, UVM and Stony Brook replacing Merrimack, Hobart, UNC and Hampton. Glad to see the Catamounts back on the docket. Two games - Lehigh at Trinity College and Stony Brook at Avon Old Farms - at neutral sites in CT.
Finish Strong
Re: Dartmouth 2024
Don't like playing Lehigh the Monday after Holy Cross unless they also have a Saturday game and/or the HC game turns out similar to the '23 game.Sportin' Life wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 2:52 pm The schedule is up: https://dartmouthsports.com/sports/mens ... e/schedule. 13 games vs 12 in '23. Re: Dartmouth 2024
Why doesn't this team play UMasses and BU every year?
Bus trips to NY and PA are overrated. Especially across NH/VT. New England teams should be competing every year for best in the region. I count a total of 13 teams:
Yale
Fairfield
Sacred Heart
Bryant
Providence
Brown
Harvard
Umass Amherst
UMass Lowell
Merrimack
Boston University
Dartmouth
UVM
Split these into CT/RI and MA/NH/VT 'divisions' and squeeze in a tourney weekend between end of season and league tourneys. Less travel and more competitive lacrosse.

Re: Dartmouth 2024
Forgot Quinnipiac, which would make 7 in each “division”. A fun though unfortunately unlikely to see the light of day. It is very refreshing to see a roster of 41 and not 62 as many schools have run out the past few years. Low 40s is just the right size.

46-48. There is so much attrition that it is hard to believe. Going from 42 to 34-35 healthy kills your depth.
“You lucky I ain’t read wretched yet!”
Re: Dartmouth 2024
My bad about QU. 'Divisions' would probably need to leverage league schedules.
AmericaEast:
Bryant
Merrimack
UMass Lowell
UVM
A10:
UMass Amherst
Big East:
Providence College
CAA:
Fairfield University
Ivies:
Dartmouth
Harvard
Brown
Yale
MAAC:
Quinnipiac (Go Bobcats!)
NEC:
Sacred Heart
Patriot:
Boston University
AmericaEast and Ivies are most represented in the region so build around those schedules and set up round robin match ups to play into a weekend tournament hosted at Foxboro. Or Boston? Call it the Patriot Cup and run the tournament on Marathon weekend. There's plenty of good teams in the region. Get the top ones to play each other for maybe an extra time to build their RPI.
Specific to Dartmouth - it's garbage how much bellyaching I've read here and on the old Laxpower site about how it's too hard to win in Hanover. Dartmouth has fields plenty of very competitive teams in other sports. Including their W lax team. Why not the men? Winters are tough but Ithaca can be a lot worse and Cornell has been one of the best programs in collegiate men's lacrosse for decades.
Give all these NE kids something to compete for if/when league or NCAA dreams fall out of reach. Tournament games are more fun and help teams develop. Great examples include Boston beanpot tournaments and recent Philly 4 tournaments between UPenn, St J's, Villanova, and Drexel.
I get that this is hard but it'd worth it. In the meantime, BU and UMass Amherst are two consistently high quality teams that Dartmouth should push like hell to schedule home and home year in year out. Same as UVM.

Re: Dartmouth 2024
I beg to differ about other DC teams. Most DC teams are mediocre most of the time. Some are very uncompetitive. The College has not been willing to do what it takes. It is hard for an outsider to know what the issue is, but it is more than small student body. Based on the experience a few years ago it is obvious the faculty are not strong supporters of athletics. One key problem is that they need to hire HC with proven records of success as head coaches to turn around programs that have been weak for years. The hiring of Kirwan is a good start Hopefully the new President will increase salaries to attract the best.
