Do any NCAC teams do spring break in Florida? Or is it to hard to get games lined up there. Was looking to take in a game or two during my kid's team spring break, hoping it would be someplace sunny and warm, only to learn that the team's spring break will be barely south of the Mason, Dixon. May need to bring my parka!

Unfortunately that isn't common anymore....pretty sure Wittenberg is headed to LA to play Whittier and some of the women's teams are down south but that is it.

Because I'm bored at work on this Friday, I started looking through a few of the NCAC posted rosters, particularly interested in the size and quality of the recruits/freshman class. Other threads have discussions on the topic and post vids as well. I started with Oberlin's. Thought this crowd might be interested. Here are a few highlight links. Must say, impressive group, and I know Oberlin is usually at the bottom of the pack in the NCAC. Looking forward to checking out the NCAC royalty for the quality of their recruits. Sorry if I missed a few players.

Here are the links to the 2022s for Wooster. 15 in that group. I guess these numbers are about par for the course? Surprised, but I now I shouldn't be, that most of these players are from the east coast.

Trying to round out the group, I searched through the Wabash and Hiram rosters. Could not find any highlight films for the Wabash freshman players. I only searched YouTube, and I'm not exactly what I would call tech savvy, so apologies to Wabash fans out there if I missed them. Re: Hiram, I was surprised, no shocked, at how few rostered players there are, and how many apparent freshman players there are (2). I know Hiram is still a young program. But yikes.

Depauw doesn't yet its 2019 rosters up yet. Re: the "royalty", I'll leave it to someone else to post the freshmen player's highlights. Not an OWU or Denison dad, so don't want to get too depressed. LOL. Have a good one gents (or ladies?).

OWU doesn't usually post their roster until right before the first game and there isn't a really good source for who their first years and transfers are until that list is posted. They usually have 17-20 new players every year.

Here is Denison's 2019 roster; looks like 14 or 15 freshman, largely from high schools in the East.

Depauw is doing a great job getting kids out of the Chicago area. Loyola/New trier compete with the best high schools in the country every year, Depauw has been able to get kids who didnt peak in high school and are still on an upward trajectory going into college. #23 on the Depauw didnt play much until his Senior year at New Trier and tore it up and has been one of the main reasons Depauw has become a good team and they have a freshmen this year from Loyola. Other mid level NCAC teams need to try and attack the north shore of Chicago hot bed, especially now that Casey Powell is running Team One lax. peak IWU's roster, mostly Ill kids doin it up.

No surprise here, NCAC coaches vote Denison as the team to beat, followed by OWU

http://www.northcoast.org/sports/mlax/2 ... s/NCACMLAX

1. Denison (8) 80
2. Ohio Wesleyan (1) 73
3. Kenyon 58
4. Wittenberg 47
5. DePauw 46
6. Wooster 43
7. Oberlin 29
8. Hiram 17
9. Wabash 11

Thx for posting oldtime.

So how does this compare to last year - anyone moving up or down, or is this basically how it's looked the last few years?

Basically the same. Wooster's stock has dropped; DePauw might use this for motivation. Will be interesting to see if Wittenberg can bounce back from last year's disappointments.

Anyone know how preseason's have been shaping up for DU and OWU? Any newcomers standing out and stepping into bigger roles or filling voids from graduation (e.g. OWU's midfield, DU defense)? No OWU roster up yet. DU roster looks like several freshman from last year dropped off (not surprisingly) and #15 no longer listed, who was very good when healthy. Both teams jumping in next weekend with big tests right out of the box.

I understand that Denison No. 15 injured an ankle pretty badly and opted to stay with the team as a manager. Tough, because the kid had some real potential.

Witt has had a solid pair of scrimmages. They beat Albion last week (winners of the MIAA the past 4 years) and easily defeated D2 Walsh 17-5 yesterday. This is a very young team coming off of a down year, so the performance so far has been a welcomed sight. Scoring has come from a number of players. They have a veteran defensive group that play well together and goaltending duties will likely be split between two sophs who both played well last year. Coach Owen will have this group ready to compete every week. The NCAC coach's poll has them at fourth place. I think third place is possible. It's early but this is a great start. TigerUp!

Totally agree with the above. Offense is moving the ball well (a lot fewer dropped or missed passes) and scoring in different ways. Good energy on the sideline, too. Definitely a different vibe than last year, but now the real season starts with the first game against Centre.
