Middlebury just pounding Tufts 16-9 in the Fourth.

Middlebury looks tough to beat. Offense is better than last year and defense remains tough to penetrate. Teams will need to figure out a better way to attack their zone to beat them.

Middlebury and W+L look like the top two teams. Seeding may make a difference for who makes the final four.

The Seagulls beat York in every way today. York gave away 4 or 5 first quarter turnovers and then shot over the cage when they did get it in the O zone. That led to a few goal lead that soon blossomed to a 7-2 deficit at half. York couldnt win a draw control, they got 4 YCs and gave Salisbury every break. Salisbury had a good day by the keeper with some great kick saves. Salisbury rode the clock in the second half, rarely going to cage until about 15-20 seconds left in the 90. Got a number of consecutive clocks in the 3rd that drained about 3.5 minutes.

York has a lot of work to do if they want to consistently compete at the Top 5 level...just wasnt there today. The good news for them is that they only have conference games left and no major competition.

In a perfectly balanced bracket, a top 8 team should not have to play against another top 8 team until the quarter finals. However, in the William Smith quadrant, there are three top 8 teams, so two have to play against each other in the 3rd round. Why would you have a higher ranked William Smith play against one of the top 8 teams rather than Fisher?

They did beat Sals in the reg season. But as being super familiar w D3 football (or D1 lax) travel has always been a part of it and especially at the D3 level. Used to be wondering before they went to regions whether they’d keep mt Union in the north with other top 5 teams or move to an east bracket that was generally weaker (because there’s way mor ed3 participating football programs in the NE which also hs declining populations and enrollment in a lot of areas).

Same thing different day. Fisher is a 45 min to Geneva, as someone who was salty about being on social probation and not allowed to pledge with my friends where I considered transferring (accepted as transfer to both) Wesleyan and Tufts, those trips are fairly long if witching the mileage limit).
