Some of this past weekend's game will count. (See below.) e.g. In Week 5, Denver's points will for sure count. If your team makes it to the quarterfinals, your Duke points will for sure count. If Army doesn't make it to the Patriot League Tourney, their 2/18 points will count, etc.

Then Week Two, then etc. Come Week X when Harvard doesn't have a game and Junior is in a panic because "We gotta play Sam King!", he'll (and you'll) understand what happened during the Pre-Week One games. But until then, you're both fine...
