Was a little preoccupied with lacrosse yesterday, so I missed the anniversary.
54 years ago yesterday, 2 unarmed protestors and 2 unarmed bystanders minding their own business were shot and murdered at Kent State by National Guardsmen. 9 others were shot and injured.

That is why the US military should never be involved in matters of law enforcement. If you can find one military commanding officer that isn't repulsed by such a mission . Those NG troops at Kent State should NEVER have been issued live ammo. I'm not sure who gave the order to lock and load. Any time I was involved in any live fire exercise in my army career we never lock and loaded our weapons until given the order to do so. You could also look back to 9/11 and see those infrequently broadcast video of stick figures jumping out of the towers. Was that not another face of the country that was?NattyBohChamps04 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 7:44 pm Was a little preoccupied with lacrosse yesterday, so I missed the anniversary.

So it's OK if law enforcement does what the military did? Just a matter of semantics of who is doing the shooting?cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 8:19 pmThat is why the US military should never be involved in matters of law enforcement. 9/11 wasn't caused by national guardsmen or local police shooting US protestors, not sure why that's relevant to what we're talking about. School of hard knocks is hard I guess.

The military at Kent State, that being the National Guard had no business on campus that day. The National Guard does a number of good in local communities. Who in the hell feels comfortable with soldiers with M1 rifles shoulder to shoulder in a defensive line. That is not what they train to do. The analogy being used here is " the country that was" America was never the same after Kent State. America was never the same after 9/11. IMO the USA has serious issues that is rotting the nation from the inside out. How many people do you know that don't trust the government anymore? The government is rapidly losing the trust of the American people. So called patriotism has been replaced by ambivalence on a nationwide scale.NattyBohChamps04 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 10:19 pmSo it's OK if law enforcement does what the military did? I wonder what the DNC will look like this year? There is a very real possibility it will make 1968 look like a trip to Disneyland. How ironic that the convention will again be in Chicago. It could be deja vu all over again. Every mentally defective Democrat will be there in full force. Pop the corn and pour the adult refreshments. It's gonna be a hoot.

We have a current candidate vowing to deploy the military to address his many concerns on the domestic front. Cranky low-information voters whistle past the graveyard because, well, "they're just all the same!"cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 6:18 amThe military at Kent State, that being the National Guard had no business on campus that day. ....and yet, some constant garderners, or rather frequent posters, gleefully supported Nixon......even AFTER this horrible event.NattyBohChamps04 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 7:44 pm Was a little preoccupied with lacrosse yesterday, so I missed the anniversary.

Just pushing back again on your attempt to normalize the statement "How many people do you know that don't trust the government anymore?"cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 7:27 amI wasn't cranky until I read your post. Your just a born agitator aren't you?
There is ONE PARTY causing that statement to enter the discourse, and people of your ilk constantly perpetuate the notion, in some bizarre attempt to conclude that behaviors we see from the republicons are "just what we get" because of your mistaken and pernicious belief that politicians are all the same.
Since Reagan's "gubmint isn't the solution, it's the problem" meme started years ago, the republic party has been trying to turn the populace against the idea that the country CAN be governed competently...better let the private sector (read: Big Private Interests) take charge and let the benefits trickle down to the masses.

You've been lied to for years, Cranky, and now you're trying to pass along those lies in your daily posts. Stop it.

Tim Scott was asked five times on NBC yesterday if he was prepared to accept the election results if Biden won. Wouldn't answer the question. The GOP has destabilized government and elections in this country, and C&S is an example of the success of the project to do so.dislaxxic wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 9:36 amJust pushing back again on your attempt to normalize the statement "How many people do you know that don't trust the government anymore?"cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 7:27 amI wasn't cranky until I read your post. I've been lied to for years dis by people like yourself. I'm one of the fortunate ones. I know when people are blowing smoke up my butt. You forget silly boy that my FLP socialist sister and I have been butting heads for 50 plus years. She started it by defacing my Sgt. Rock comic books with her own interpretation of what I should believe. That was all she wrote there jaundice boy. I think for myself and come to my own conclusions. Many of the stupid idiots on this forum think my opinions have evolved because I'm a FOX accolyt. My beliefs were imbedded in me decades before there was a FOX News.dislaxxic wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 9:36 amJust pushing back again on your attempt to normalize the statement "How many people do you know that don't trust the government anymore?"cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 7:27 amI wasn't cranky until I read your post.
