Elon Musk (yet another authoritarian)

Post by jhu72 »

We have had a few discussions of this fellow, but it is clear he is going to be in the news for a considerable period of time. He has learned from the Trump experience and wants to play the same game, pandering to the Trumpnista (a crowded field). He clearly imagines himself as President of the US if not Master of the Universe. He has no interest in free speech. His interest is in his own speech, his own aggrandizement and financial profit.

Rather than trying to shoehorn in discussions and news stories, it makes sense to have a separate thread.

So much for free speech at Space X

Five employees canned for criticizing Musk in an open letter. This is the company some people expect to take us back to the moon?

Another rich, eccentric hypocrite acting like the thin-skinned a-hole he is at his core. .

He's a Trumpster alright: socialism for me, the vicissitudes of the free market for everyone else. Right up Pete's alley.

"So Tesla is successful currently in spite of our competitors having materially greater tax advantages, in spite of it not because of it."

"If you eliminated all EV tax credits, Tesla's position will improve immediately."

To show that he was angry at this federal tax credit that he considers unfair, Musk renewed his criticisms on the social network Twitter.

What a sad pathetic thread. Jealousy 101.

The single most successful businessman in American history, an immigrant no less, an African even, and you lightweights choose to attack him.

Gee, it doesn’t have anything to do with his constant mockery of the lunatic left, does it? Nah. Couldn’t be that!!

Helpful hint: being jealous of another human won’t get you closer to your own goals.

He IS the lunatic left, you brilliant, brilliant man. Pay attention.

Does he get fat tax breaks, while TrumpNation pays full freight?
Did he attend a "woke" school?
Does he own (i can't believe I have to point this out) a electric car company?
Does he live and work in Silicon Valley?
Does he mock and look down on those who he considers less than him?
Does he fire people who dare to speak freely about how he's running his company?

 That's a card carrying liberal, bud. It's AWESOME that you don't notice it, all because you think he's gonna "fix" twitter.

How's that going, Petey?  Any day now, twitter will allow human trafficking, death threats, and medical disinformation that kills people, just like your team wants.

That ‘card carrying liberal’ just said he’s voting for Ron Desantis.

 What part of my telling you that Ron DeSantis is a Big Government Liberal aren't you getting, Pete?

Hilariously, you think that little R means that DeSantis can't possibly be a Big Government liberal. It's spectacular.

Elon knows that if DeSantis is elected, he'll get more handouts and tax breaks for Tesla and Tesla buyers.

My lib pals are driving around in sweet Teslas, visiting their vacation homes.....all while your flyover TrumpFans can barely make rent. All DeSantis will do is cut my lib pals' taxes, let their multinational corporations tax free...all while raising the taxes of ordinary Americans.

You're doing a great job with your political choices, Pete! Keep it up, and coastal libs will own everything.

Unless they F*** with him on the environmental assessments, he is the one that will get us back to the moon at the cheapest cost. No body else is even close at this point.

Likely, but don't anyone dare argue with him about anything.
Free speech for me, but not for thee.

Also, a very bad way to run an enormously dangerous program.

I have no desire to go to the moon. Just commenting on the post. NASA and the Chinese are spending Billions on a return to the moon and future trips to Mars. Right now, SpaceX is way ahead of all other rocket development. They are doing it cheaper and faster. Why are we going back to the moon? Ask your elected officials.

We, USA, need more "Rare Earth Metals" and there are lots of them on the moon. China and Russia have sources.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rare-earth_element

When this map came out Trump pushed the Artemis project to get USA back on the Moon.

The commercial race to mine the moon is the driver for the next space race. Pity the moon...

So let me get this straight.

We send Fanlax members to the penalty box for similar personal attacks on posters but we have a myriad of threads at the Water Cooler that just spew bile and make personal attacks on public figures and politicians. Of all sides.

Hope you guys are all having a good summer. The weather is gorgeous. Get outside and do something better with your lives than spread hate.

yes, public figures and public policy.
We have a thread started by a troll specifically to promote his preferred politician, and threads to discuss others mostly started by those wishing a place to critique them in specific.

It's the Politics thread.

Musk put himself into politics.
He's gonna get praise from some (I praise his entrepreurial genius) and he's gonna get bile from those who think he's full of sh-t on "free speech" and who consider social media's viral algorithms to be a serious danger to general polity, public health, and even democracy.

This part of the forum isn't the lax part...

I had an early morning bike ride, expect to get in 9 after 5pm tonight...hope you are enjoying as well.
