Aaaaaannnd, right back to the gaslighting. Awesome!!

Merriam Webster, socialism: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property. b. : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state.

Please, tell the class that you're so stupid, you don't think your College fits the above definition, and that you honestly think that Old Salt is in charge of what words mean in America, and you get to tell everyone what words mean.

Gaslighting, wasting your own time, inventing what words mean because you don't want to be a socialist.

Oh, and you also tell us that you don't think socialism is bad, after insulting me several times, calling my ideas a "socialist paradise" or some such thing.

Edit to add: I forgot your chef's kiss claim, and gaslight cherry on top, that your College.....wasn't a College at all. It's a "job".

Cool. Can you let us all know when you're gonna stop doing this? How about Summer, that seems fair.....let you get whatever problem you have sort itself out?

How many times have I told the Forum that we're paying HALF the effective income tax rate that we were under Clinton.

Which is why when I hear Republicans feign concern over the deficit I know they are LYING.

Because the FIRST step to reducing/eliminating our debt and deficit is to double our effective income tax rates, so that we pay REASONABLE tax levels that we managed to pay without the Republican falling for DECADES.

Try telling that to Republican leaders or voters. They think taxes are a communist plot, no exaggeration. Don't believe me? Ask them.

Second step is spending. Let's use Reagan as the bar, since he has been Sainted by the R party: his spending after his policies kicked it was around 22% of GDP.

Anyone know what we spent in 2023?
My taxes went up under Trump's supposed tax cuts. With the cap on the deduction of state & local taxes, it was advantageous to take the Standard Deduction rather than to itemize. That's not a complaint. I don't think SALT should be deductible at all.
Turning off the gaslighting, and sneaking in an honest opinion. More please.

If you live in NYS your taxes don't actually go up. Taxpayers get confused in this matter. What goes up steadily are government " user fees" which for some odd reason get confused with taxes. :D

Told ya why LONG ago: the Corporations operating in your State are operating without getting taxed.

Before the Dems in your State started playing this game in the 90's (and still play it) where they swear "we'll make up the tax money "somewhere else"......the MAJORITY of NYState's operating budget came from Corporate tax.

THAT is what happened. Move their taxes to where they were in the 80's and back? You could cut the firetruck out of all taxes that hit regular ol' people.

 My bad. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: your disdain for how the Dem party has run that State for 40+ years is 100% warranted. I'd be furious, too.

But....but: you've got some of the very best public schools in the Country, with a HUGE emphasis on earning college credits while in HS. And the SUNY System is worth every penny you cats spend. That, and that alone makes it a great place to raise kids.

Ahh, yes, the last 2 100 days.

Huge infrastructure investments are counting toward that. But assets are growing apace, I'd argue.

I love how everyone wants to compare the national debt with their personal household finances, but they leave off their home value from the analysis or the value of college education to earning levels, or grad eduction, or technical education...they all want to look only at short term cash flow.

The old rule of thumb for a home mortgage was 30% of income as the debt level you should aim for, though today most new homebuyers have to exceed 40% to get into a home the size that their parents had afforded at 30%. And home ownership has been a quite reliable way to accumulate value, given enough time and good upkeep.

We regularly commit capital (and taking on debt) to pay for education, as lifetime earrings are predictably higher with such education (assuming it's not squandered by laziness).

So....gaslighting. Pretty hard to be cordial when you do this over and over again, and then yell at me and others all the time for (insert reason we're posting "wrong"))

You'll have to put in a call to your former team, and tell them the big win against you-know-who this year "doesn't' count" because they're not on a intercollegiate lacrosse team. They're in a VoTech school, aren't accredited, aren't in a college sports confernence, don't offer BA's or BS's.

And when they ask "why do you think this? What the heck are you talking about?", you can tell them, with pride, " Oh, i'm trying to "win" a pointless argument on the internet that no one cares about, and waste everyone's time, especially mine."

And they'll say, "oh, that's SO cool".

...that's pretty good for a trade school. When I attended, we didn't even have majors.
You could take 1 elective/semester toward a minor. Everything else was core curriculum, including navigation, signal flags & morse code.

There is consensus that the 2/3 years of lost classroom time only exacerbated the problem. On line home schooling was ineffective at best. SUNY has some great schools. Too bad many of the incoming freshmen are not as prepared academically as they should be.

you have a cite for that?
I meant to post the link I read. I googled it and it came up on several different sites. I have no doubt that data is correct. Try and Google 1 trillion every 100 days.

Most Americans that are fiscally responsible are well aware of their personal financial situation and do their very best to live within their means. They also understand that their government could care less how they mismanage the taxpayers money. I can't recall the last politician that publicly declared we should have a balanced budget. The cost to maintain this debt is closing ever more rapidly towards a trillion dollars a year. There is a cabal of economic gurus who think our national debt is no big deal. There are also a lot of Americans who think that cavalier attitude is or will soon be disaterous. Time will tell if it is possible to spend your way out of the deep hole that has been dug.
I use to be a people person until people ruined that for me.
