US Lacrosse Schedule

This thread will be refreshed with new games and broadcast information all through the regular season and postseason by any and/or all of us wlax fans here on the Excellent LaxPower Back-Up Stick (read: Superior to the former LaxPower by all accounts). Apart from waiting for games to be broadcast on cable television, there are many outlets that do a decent job at streaming live games, (and replays of entire games) online throughout the season.

For instance, BTN+ and BTN2Go (paid subscription--$14.95 per month for access to all Big 10 or $9.95 per month for all games for a single team)--are excellent if one wants to follow the teams in the Big 10. (Most certainly would include TL--that most ballyhooed of Terrapins fans.) Then you have ESPN+ ($4.99 per month), another streaming service that streams a lot of ACC games, including the excellent Syracuse production team. They really know how to broadcast a lacrosse game. Also, many teams now also broadcast their own games, like High Point. They did an excellent job last year and I have to think they will only improve this year. This is by no means an exhaustive list of broadcast outlets.

In any event, and without further delay, here are the first scheduled broadcasts for Opening Day, February 7th.
(I know--it's 2 weeks away but I couldn't help myself with the anticipation.)

Gardner-Webb at Duke - ACC Network - 4pm

Detroit Mercy at Northwestern - BTN+ - 6pm

Duquesne at Ohio State - BTN+ - 7pm

Canisius at Syracuse - ACC Network - 7:30pm

All start times will endeavor to be Eastern Standard

You’re welcome, LaxDad. We’ll have some dilly’s to watch, including Maryland at North Carolina at 1pm on Saturday Feb 22nd. That will be streamed on the ACC Network.

Three of teams that I’ll be watching with great interest this season play today. It’ll be interesting to see if the Wildcats put up another 30 at Duke. Michigan visits Jacksonville for a rematch of last year’s clash in The Tournament. Good chance for the Dolphins to get some payback playing at home. Then Notre Dame. They should win handily. Interested to see how they look. Not a bad Sunday afternoon lineup.

Interesting. Both Duke and Northwestern get a tune up game on Friday, and then play their annual match Sunday. At least Dwyer will have some competition on the circle today. I'd expect NU to win this one pretty handily, but it's increasingly clear how little I know.

I think BC misses Arsenault and Miller more than any other graduate. No offense to Sam and Kent. But it dominated between the lines last year, and it appears that UMass really competed there yesterday.

I forgot that Navy is just really tough and super well coached. Duh. I thought Myers's comments were about right: UVA stole a game Navy should have won. Patriot League dogfight again, Doc?

The Florida-Colorado result leaves me still confused about how good either team is relative to the rest of the world.

I thought Maryland looked OK, but its defense needs work. Terps really miss Colson and Braig.

Can't wait for the Cuse-SBU game.

NU should win easily. I am guessing that B. Dwyer (all 5'-5" of her) beats the 6'-2" specialist for Duke.

I certainly didnt see BC dropping off that much...maybe CN isnt able to take the place of the three by herself. Supergirl trick shots not withstanding.

I dont know that UVA stole the game, Navy missed countless open shots and hit many pipes....Navy was the better team yesterday, but sometimes stuff happens. I think that Navy will be fine...what I saw in that game is that maybe, just maybe UVA is overranked, again? Mueller was not the same without Jackson and Shoemaker. As far as a DOG-fight, not sure how good the '20 Hounds are, just yet....we will see as it is a long time until they play. Might get a glimpse of the hounds level of play when they welcome Hop to Ridley on Saturday.

I think Florida isnt as good as they have been a few years ago.

MD would have scored high 20s in any other year against Mason. They are not up to the high standard they have established (rebuilding), but it is early in the year and they were playing a mid level D1. Almost like Fall Ball.

An interesting game within the game will be the strategy KAH uses against Jenner. She coached her on the U-19 team so has seen a lot of her in action on the draw. She picked her to be the center for the team so evidently she thinks a lot of her.

I have seen a lot of Maddie (big fan) over the years, starting in early high school. I think by far the best strategy is to try to direct the ball out to the circle. The opposing center’s chances of beating her one on one are not good. You will get some, but Jenner will get the majority. If you get it out to the circle, and have strong players out there, you may be able to win half the draws. Caveat: I know nothing about Dwyer so I could be all wet.

After 11 minutes in the first.....7-0 NU
after 16 minutes 10-3..

Duke has switched from zone to man....looking a little better.

The broadcast and commentary are good.

Hope they don't get to 30...this is no contest (am disappointed, thought this would be a tighter game).
I do not, do not, DO NOT understand how so many FPSs don't result in goals. Watched several missed in the Cuse game the other day, have seen a few missed in this one already. FPSs have got to be a goal 70-80% of the time. Such a huge advantage for the O player and most of the time plenty of time and space to complete that play. If I'm a coach, my girls are going to learn how to bury that FPS, you just can't leave those golden opportunities on the table.

Duke gets a few at the end, but Northwestern wins 24-19. Name of the game for the Wildcats this year..."we're gonna score a lot of goals."
They averaged 18 last year.

Personally, I'd like to see Syracuse averaging around that number this year given the offense they have (they averaged 14 last year).

Monday Night Lacrosse — Stony Brook at Syracuse

Post by wlaxnut »

5pm — Stony Brook at Syracuse — ACC Network

Very interesting matchup, although I think Syracuse will overwhelm Stony Brook in the end. The Seawolves will come out with their hair on fire I’m guessing. If they have any chance of winning they’re going to have to jump on the Orange right away. They’re going to have to be very aggressive on defense as well. A tenacious ride wouldn’t hurt either.

Looking forward to this game in a big way!

Agree this is a good matchup. Will go a long way to telling us whether SBU is Top 20 or Top 10 potential.

Good early matchup for SU. It's only the third time they've faced each other and the first time in a regular season game (last two were several years ago on opening weekend of the NCAAT). The Seawolves have a good offense coming back from last year (Kennedy, T. Ohlmiller and Rafferty), but defensively, they could be shaky. They lost much of their backline and the lack of depth could have them worn out at the end tonight, not to mention they lost a good goalie in Tesoriero to graduation. They did pick up a transfer from Rutgers (started most of the games for them last year) and she seems ok. The draw matchup should be interesting and could be a game decider. If SU wins a bunch of them, it might be hard for the Seawolves to keep up, but vice versa and the SB offense could make things interesting. If I were to hazard a guess, all things being equal, I'd go with Syracuse by 3-5 goals.
