Incredible amount of assumptions in that statement about how everything else plays out in other conferences. I assume the Hoyas will want to avoid your scenario. Lot of meaningful lacrosse left. We will see what happens.

The Cats run of not missing the Big East Tournament continues. Good showing in their 12-6 victory at Marquette!

Nova can improve their standing in the BE tonight at Villanova Stadium with a win over Georgetown.

The Wildcats and Hoyas have a long lacrosse history, with the teams first facing off back in 1971. Georgetown leads the overall series by one game, 21-20.

Nova won six of seven games from 2012 through 2017.

However, the Hoyas have won nine straight games since 2017.

The games have been mostly close, with the glaring exception of a Georgetown blow-out in February of 2021 by a score of 16-1.

Later that same season, in March of 2021, the Cats lost by one goal, 8-7. (Big East teams placed each other twice in the regular season in the 2021 season). In May of 2021, Villanova lost again in the BE tournament in another close game, 14-12.

In 2022, Nova lost 14-12.

In 2023, Nova lost 12-8.

Will the Hoya winning streak extend to ten games?

I think you have to throw out 12-17 as GT was trash over the period. Even Hobart beating them wasn’t the same with Urick gone.

The Big East is simply awful. That was painful to watch.

How about Merrimack looking into bringing Simon Conors famous motion offense up north, 19 years on the mainline is a long time in one place

Dude you can send your resume to Hobart and William Smith Colleges C/O AD, 144 Pulteney Street, Geneva NY 14456. We need a new coach.

Would love to see Nova surprise against Denver. All the power to them and G-Town. But it is getting a tad boring seeing those two continue to dominate the conference.

I would love to see that too. Villanova has a terrific defense and perhaps a top 3 LSM that nobody is talking about. Unfortunately, this is a team that struggles to score in double digits. I can't see it happening.

No offense at all to Villanova people on here. But a very knowledgeable Nova supporter told me he thinks that another big reason besides having more scholarships that Denver and Georgetown do so much better is because their schools and athletic departments simply care more about lacrosse than Nova does.

Nova has the same game plan every time they play Denver/GTown, and those 2 programs know what to expect with Simons high powered motion offense, 11 total shots on goal last Friday against GTown ( less then 3 shots a quarter ) maybe it is time for a different offense or offensive coordinator

Stephen Zupicich is LSM first team All-American. He had lead most of the season nationally with CTO's, can set up fast breaks with assists and goals.

Nova has certainly struggled since a Brown lacrosse player injured Nova's FOGO Justin Coppola. (Watching games and checking stats, has not played since that injury).

However, it's hard to figure what happened to an offensive unit that was productive earlier in the season:

The Cats only took 19 shots against Georgetown, with 11 on goal.

Compare these stats to a close game against Yale (11-13 loss) and easy victories against Patriot League foes Colgate (15-9) and Lehigh (14-8).

Against Yale, the Nova offense took 42 shots, with 22 on goal. Against, Colgate 38/26. Against Lehigh 39/28.

Look at what their BB programs have done the last decade…more Butler dropped lacrosse around the same time they became a beeline major in BB and Stan Ross had that program bumping around the top 20 at the time. Is this shocking that Ads prioritize sports? Honestly nova has some offensive issues once Licata is gone it seems after a really nice stretch w Khan, Campbell etx

They've had some killer talent, Keegan Khan, Connor Kirst, Matt Campbell, Chet Comizio - I think the local kid Colin Michener can be another in that line.

Maybe but they had 2,3,4 stacked in an offense and that stretch seems to have waned, it happens. Just have to rebuild via recruiting. Corrado will do it, just may be a year or two hes going to have to hope to rely on D and goalie play I think. Look out for Prov to displace them in that top 3.

There's no Big East thread.

Cats up 9-8,
4 and change left.
