What about soph Julia Hoffman on attack? She was an excellent attacker at McDonogh.

Certainly another weapon. My concern is still defense and midfield. Especially in the early season. Maryland has loads of weapons but it will be a young squad.

Yep, agreed. Glaros (soph), Ahearn (fresh) and Schettig (fresh) should get a lot of minutes. I wonder if the freshman Leubecker will play some midfield; she showed a great first step and good speed in the USA and Canada games.

I have full confidence in the Maryland coaching staff. They’ve been through this before. It will be entertaining to see all this young talent develop. It is also interesting that the last #1 recruiting class before this years was the senior class of this season.

That really isn't important to me. I don't think you understand my perspective on women's lacrosse. I like many teams and many players. BC is one of the teams I like--along with Michigan, Penn St, Notre Dame, High Point, Princeton, Navy, Northwestern, Dartmouth, USC, et al. Those who are deserving are the players I would want on the list. Those who are not deserving to be labeled top 5 shouldn't--regardless of their laundry. Again--I would recommend you go back and read what I have said about BC on these boards before you label me as a BC homer. If you were kidding--fine. I just didn't get the impression from the emoji you chose that you were. Seems like a sarcastic smirk emoji. In any event, those are my thoughts.

That’s cool. But I never wrote that BC is or was my exclusive favorite team. They are one of my favorite teams. I don’t follow any sports like that, let alone women’s lacrosse. And BC being one of my favorite teams can change at any time. In one memorable conversation I had with one of my favorite customers back when I worked the counter at the supply house, he said he reserved the right to root for any team he wanted, regardless of his or the teams geographical location or cultural background. He went on to say that if he found himself so inspired, he would root for different teams during the same game, back and forth multiple times if it suited his whim. Because in the end, it's just a game. It's not life or death or fealty to king and country. I thought he expressed perfectly what I feel about sports. Now, women's lacrosse to me is a fascinating, spectacular, fireworks-display-of-a-sport, but it is, in the end, just a game.

2 - Izzy Scane and Emily Hawryschuk

I can deal with (even though two #2's is a cop out)--but I have to roll my eyes at some of these choices from the "expert".

How in the world does Charlotte North not end up on this list? I'd put her 2nd easy. 3rd at the absolute lowest. Not just because she easily has the numbers (82 goals 23 assists in only 19 games last year) but anyone watching her can see she is one of the elite scorers/attackers in div 1.

Then Kelly Larkin--how she gets left off this list is another head scratcher. Her numbers last year: 69 goals 52 assists in 21 games, and another player you watch and see pretty quickly how talented she is.

These numbers and the ol' eye test do not support inclusion from these very talented (but not top 5) attackers.
And I agree--clearly Kyla Sears as the representative from Princeton.

Kali Hartshorn 48 g 19 a in 23 games
Tess D'Orsi 64 g 16 a 20 games
Ali Baiocco 52 g 28 a 19 games

My top 6

1 - Jamie Ortega
2 - Charlotte North
3 - Izzy Scane
4 - Emily Hawryschuk
5 - Kelly Larkin
6 - Kyla Sears
Livy Rosenzweig! How did I (she) miss her? In 21 games--46 g 70 a 23 gb 13 ct 85 dc

Top 5 Middies as per Tracey Weiner
1 - SB Ally Kennedy 21 gp 84 g 16 a 47 gb 15 ct 124 dc
2 - USC Kerrigan Miller 20 gp 22 g 7 a 56 gb 41 ct 52 dc
3 - BC Cara Urbank 22 gp 50 g 19 a 14 gb 10 ct 2 dc
4 - ND Andie Aldave 19 gp 47 g 20 a 21 gb 19 ct 152 dc
5 - Penn Erin Barry 18 gp 37 g 6 a 35 gb 17 ct 36 dc

I guess Kennedy #1 but she does play in the weak sisters of the poor America East conference where she played 9 of her 21 games. Against Maryland in The Tournament she managed no goals, 1 assist. She’s talented—no doubt, and she plays like a house on fire. I’d love to see her play in the Big 10 or ACC to get an indication of how she would hold up with a tougher schedule.

Kerrigan Miller #2? She does a lot of things well, but only 22 goals? I’d put Michigan's intrepid Maggie Kane or her equally as fearless partner Molly Garrett in there just as easily. They play just as hard in a tougher conference.

I don’t think Urbank makes the grade. She had some outstanding teammates feeding her, most notably Kenzie Kent. Her overall stats aren’t as thorough as some of the others.

Aldave is a great choice. She’s a fiery force for the Irish. She might have a breakout year, which is saying a lot because her numbers are very strong now considering the conference she plays in.

Not a whole lot of standout/flashy midfielders left after so many graduated last season. Grace Griffin for Maryland has numbers just as good if not better than some of the players here. Syracuse has some good middies. We’ll see who else emerges next year…

Hello, is this Doc’s travel agent? I think he will be booking some trips very soon 😉

Any new teams on the schedule next year?

Looks like the only new team of any significance on the schedule is Penn.

Michigan Wolverines release 2020 schedule

Aside from USC, Colorado and Denver, it looks like a fairly easy schedule out of conference. In conference, I don’t see any easy games.

This quote from coach ought to have teams in the ACC taking umbrage:

"I am excited about the schedule we have put together for our 2020 campaign," said Nielsen. "Naturally, the Big Ten provides the best competition in the country, which we are always excited about.“

Michigan will struggle against the better teams. If they come out pre season ranked higher that 15 I’ll be Suprised.
