He was lights out in the UA game, which in the past has SOMETIMES been a shooting gallery on the goalies and the making for highlight reel goals. Being new on campus may be a minor road block, but he has a real shot at the staring job. Will be an interesting fall in CP.terp talk wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 12:14 am This was before Logan was named the MVP of The UA Game

I think there's 11 Terps earning HS AA honors on this list (4 of which are 2020s).
Malaver (2020)
Sherrer
Sawyer
Koras (2020)
Wynne
McNaney
Calderone
Brennan
Zappitello (2020)
Goforth (2020)
Wierman

Matt's love for Maryland and lacrosse shines through whenever you talk to him. If not the Terp GOAT certainly one of the top 2 or 3.

Re: Maryland 2020
Ty Xanders has announced that the Terps have added Colin Hagstrom to their 2020 class. Hagstrom is a face-off man from Mahtomedi, Minnesota.
You can add another to UMd's HS AA list, Wheels, as Hagstrom was a HS AA for Minnesota.
Mahtomedi is considered to be a suburb of St.Paul. Mahtomedi is from Dakota for White Bear Lake.

Terp incoming freshman, Justin Sherrer, (GA) State Defensive Player of the Year, and Cherokee Tribune Lacrosse Player of the Year:

“This summer, we have our workout plan,” Sherrer said. “We’ve been doing it every day. I’ve been practicing pretty much every day to stay in shape and stay in the game. It all depends on when I get up there. I’d like to say I’ll play, but nothing is handed to you. I just want to be the best player and student I can be up there.”

Good to hear that he is taking full advantage by getting into routine early.

Re: Maryland 2020
Disastrous for at least one kid if not two, that's for sure. Drew Morris (junior) has been benching for two years, and the kid is phenomenal. McNaney (freshman) isn't sitting for anyone...I don't think he'll redshirt (he's already old for his class). And Brandau (sophomore) surely didn't transfer to sit.
So you have three great goalies with years of eligibility left.
If all three stay, I'd be shocked. Tillman must be hitting the phones all day today trying to contain this - hoping he works it out, but boy is this hard to decipher.
Re: Maryland 2020
I agree. Can’t see all three staying in CP after Fall Ball, but you never know. Tillman tends to favor upperclassmen so Brandau and McNaney may have to either sit for a while or enter the Portal. I think N Amato is the last Goalie to start as Freshman.
Re: Maryland 2020
Not the school I had expected, early on I thought Yale or Loyola, but as it dragged on it seemed like his options became more limited. He must not have liked G'town very much as he would have been able to compete for a spot coming off his end of season performances. Tough spot for goalies in D1 lacrosse as there are some many great goalies and limited playing opportunities. Isn't Brandau in the same spot or maybe in a more difficult place to get playing time. Maybe in this situation the transfer portal made it to easy to get out, where as fighting for a spot with your original team, might have been the better decision. Time will tell.
Re: Maryland 2020
Rambo ? GOAT ? Not a knock but no.
Re: Maryland 2020
Agreed. Cant afford to lose the freshman and Morris must be odds on favorite to start, That leaves Brandau odd man out.Peter Brown wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 8:07 am

Re: Maryland 2020
I tend to believe there will be a goalie competition between all 3, starting in the fall. Morris has the advantage of 2 years at UMd, while Brandau played in 9 D! games at Georgetown this past Spring.

Doubt Brandau would be ok with that after transferring in. Tillman must have some idea of how this is going to work out.Paterp wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 11:12 amAgreed.
