Today's Interesting HS Boys Games
Re: Today's Interesting HS Boys Games
No catholic school tournament, but they are likely to get the #1 and #2 seeds in the Non-Public A state tournament. They will most likely meet each other in the championship. Winner moves on to the TOC.
Re: Today's Interesting HS Boys Games
SHP played Delbarton on 04/11 and beat them 13-9.

Re: Today's Interesting HS Boys Games
Big win for Chaminade today....They win Regs Rock for the second straight year and the seventh time overall in the 12-year history of the event!!
In fitting fashion, it was the seniors at the forefront of the 15-7 victory over Manhasset...
Led by six strikes from Thomas Rogan and another three from Kevin Pimental (the wearer of the sacred #19 jersey), 12 of the Flyers' 15 goals came by 12th graders...Also scoring for soon to be departed cohort were Reilly Gray, James Corcoran, and Tyler Sandoval.
John Devino, James Ball, and Christopher Kavanagh accounted for the remaining three tallies!!
Liam Entenmann, who remained in cage until the waning moments, was credited with seven saves, as the Chaminade defense held Manhasset (entered averaging 13 goals per game) to their second lowest output of the season.

... and Hill crushed IMG and Haverford lost to St. Anthony's, 11 - 12 in OT.
Re: Today's Interesting HS Boys Games
Chaminade's win over Manhasset only reaffirms the fact that high school lacrosse is currently run by prep/private schools who can recruit. Manhasset may be the best Public school in the country yet got dominated by Chaminade who made the win look quite effortless.

HMMM! The best Public school in the country? Think that game says more about Chaminade than it does the general state of prep schools vs publics. After all Chaminade dispatched elite prep rival St. Anthony's with similar ease.914laxer wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 3:30 pm Chaminade's win over Manhasset only reaffirms the fact that high school lacrosse is currently run by prep/private schools who can recruit. In my eyes Chaminade is the clear #1 at this point in the season. Undefeated and largely untested in the second half of pretty much every game they've played. Best combo of goalie and FOGO play anywhere, deep and unselfish on offense, and big and athletic on deffense. Their blowouts of St. Anthony's and Manhasset are the two best wins by any team this year IMO, and the destruction of Massapequa was similarly impressive.
Re: Today's Interesting HS Boys Games
Teams still have been listed on Geico Nationals website but my understanding is that Hill, Culver, Brunswick, Lawrenceville (and more) will be playing.

They're a fraction of the total and the (vast) majority are from NY.
Re: Today's Interesting HS Boys Games
Well, they're certainly up there. None of the Suffolk A teams look like dominant teams this year.wahoomurf wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 4:10 pmHMMM! The best Public school in the country? Re: Today's Interesting HS Boys Games
Is Chaminade a private school? For some reason I thought they were public.

You learn something new every day. Thanks.

Manhasset is an excellent school. But the best? Close but no cigar.According to U.S. News and World report, Manhasset ranks behind Jericho,Great Neck South and Garden City among High Schools in Nassau County. All 4 ranked in the Top 300 of the 23,000 public schools in America. While a terrific accomplishment, not THE BEST.renault wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 7:09 pmWell, they're certainly up there. Re: Today's Interesting HS Boys Games
I'm pretty he was referring to them as the best "Public High School lax team" in the country...
I do however want to clear up any suggestions that Chaminade recruits...If you want to say there is an inherit advantage to being able to pull from all over the Island (as opposed to be restricted to local district zoning), I will grant you that...But, Chaminade does not actively recruit anyone. They don't bend the admission standards, they don't offer scholarships...
If anything, because of the tradition that Coach Moran has established, student-athletes pursue us!
Trust me, with the football season being kind of rough the past few seasons, there are times I WISH we recruited
I truly give our kids a lot of credit; A lot of them could be 3-4 year stars within their own district; meanwhile, they opt to accept less varsity field team and perhaps a smaller role because they/their families value the entire experience offered.

The added clarity and focus can help you. The "Best Public school in the country" IS NOT the Public school with the best lacrosse program. If you intended to proclaim Manhasset may have the best high school high school LACROSSE PROGRAM, that's an entirely different story.
Slainte!

murf, you've been spending too much time in the Politics Forum. Outside of the Anything But Lacrosse forums, people have one-track minds. In this forum, if you say, Build that wall!, they think you're talking about a stick's sidewall.
