Too bad.
Second straight end of game one goal loss.
12-11 Stony Brook.

Well, lets keep the good, maybe even great, week going.

2-1 so far, of course the Tigers, and also unfortunate, the Dutch came up just short.

I signed up for ESPN +.
$4.99 for one month and a week, seemed worth it.
UMass is on ESPN +.
Fairfield and Hofstra are on LSN.
Hens are for pay on Big East, Villanova all access.

Tigers aren’t quite the lock that I had thought for At Large NCAA bid.
But they’re pretty close.
One more win, Cornell, Duke, Denver, and that will do it.

http://laxbytes.com/2019/binmenstats/ncaapb01.php

Course, this creates an interesting dilemma.
It means that if someone can beat out the Tigers in the conference tournament, that’s two bids.

Course, who knows what will happen, but definitely a nice incentive for CAA teams.

Great day of lacrosse, some real good games.

A wipeout though for the CAA.
0 & 5, the five teams lost by a combined 28 goals.

So its Towson, and then everyone else.

Yes, Jeff Trainor almost saved the day.
But, you have to close teams out when you have the chance, a lot of high scoring, one goal games this year, so you can’t hang your hat on a one goal loss.

Regroup.
There’s next week.
Hope to see Towson atop the rankings come Monday.

Well, some good news from this weekend.

Towson number one on Monday ?
You’d think so.
UMass was the last number one, for about three weeks in 2012.

Tigers top the polls :!: :!:

A little follow up, and props actually for the UMass effort against Yale. Jeff Trainor is a 1st team All American talent. Those two goals in the final 40 seconds were top notch, only a few players are that capable. Ben Spencer has an absolute rocket, one of the hardest shots around. Both Spencer’s OT shots were cannons and both were tipped before reaching the cage.

Trainor is a horse out there. UMASS has moments of greatness, would love to see them run deep into May.

Have not seen any of the CAA teams apart from Towson ...can any one take them down, assuming injury doesn't do it to them? Buy-in and leadership is rock solid, they have been there before and want to go back.

Looking at the numbers so far this season there isn't a real pattern to suggest that the CAA isn't wide open from #2 to #4.

I think Towson will go 5-0 in the CAA and sweep the CAA playoffs en route to another Final Four appearance.

UMASS is very good. They will battle Towson for the title. After a few weeks. Towson 1 UMASS 1-A, Drexel, Delaware, Hofstra. Can anyone explain the goalie situation at Drexel? Playing two goalies. Jacksonville was hitting three’s from the baseline vs the Dragons. The Delaware Fogo injury will ding them for a while.

I think Towson will loss at least two CAA games, one in the CAA finals. Could this be the year where a deserving CAA gets two invites? Don't think that has ever happened.

Goalie situation at Drexel ?
Tough to say. They sort of got lucky last year, their goalie transferred back from Hobart and played well for maybe 8 games after coming on in relief. Maybe they’ll give one of the freshmen a shot (one is a redshirt). The two freshmen are much larger in cage than the guys that have been playing, so maybe that’s part of the problem.

Don't sleep on the Hens at 5-1, they won a classic trap game yesterday vs Mercer, while it wasn't pretty at times they got the win. They have Binghamton on Saturday and with a win could head to Hopkins at 6-1, followed by Michigan away. Two big opportunities to get quality wins. Solid D, Great Goaltending, a Productive Offense. They could surprise some people. However I feel Towson is the real deal.

Most think Delaware is on the right track. But, they went 3-27 vs Nova on face offs. That’s a concern . When they play better teams without starter at the X could cause problems. You can see they have mixed up the schedule to lay some foundation. No doubt they will win some games!

You would put an unranked, 2-3 Umass team as 1a, next to the 4-0 #1 ranked team in the nation? The season is very young, and anything can happen, but we can only go off what we've seen thus far. Try to be a little less bias, haha...

On UMass.
Here is one reason they’ve been able to turn things around following, people forget, an undefeated 2012 regular season, and the subsequent drop off.
They lost some players, Nick Mariano, and they lost a big recruit, Dylan Pallonetti, but the staff continues their good recruiting.
The Spencer brothers were big recruits to me.
Here’s another good one.
A 2020 from Seton Hall, looks like an attack middie hybrid.

It’s v early. Look who UMASS has played. UMASS goes to Towson this year.

Interesting differences in scheduling.

Nadelen of course, with the peddle to the metal always, 100%.

Cannella with the grind it out first five games, a break from top 10-20s, and then back to the grind with CAA play.

Laf has Towson #1 in his ratings.
Delaware #20, UMass #32, Hofstra #34.

Fanlax has Towson #1, Delaware #16, UMass #32.
